Three Libertarian candidates for the North Dakota Legislature plan to sue to get on the November ballot.
Libertarian Party Chairman Richard Ames of Wahpeton says the lawsuit should be filed this week in federal court in Fargo.
Ames was a Libertarian candidate for the North Dakota Senate in last month’s primary election. Libertarians Thommy Passa (PAY’-suh) and Anthony Stewart of Grand Forks also filed to run for the North Dakota House.
Under state law the candidates needed a minimum number of votes to qualify for the general election, and none of them got the votes they needed.
The lawsuit says North Dakota’s minimum-vote requirement in primary elections is unconstitutional, and that it’s an unfair barrier to third-party candidates.

A wannabe UK arsonist has been intercepted and arrested by police after he was caught bragging about his intended actions on gaming portal Newgrounds. The 16-year-old moron was spotted by a Montreal man who took the threat seriously enough to alert British authorities.
"I saw this thread started by this guy," explains the 21-year-old student, who saw this thread started by this guy. "It didn't seem serious at first. It said that today at 11:30 a.m. GMT I will commit violence and other forms of arson against my school [in Norfolk]. He had posted a picture of a gas can."
Although the police had no address and only a forum thread to go on, they were able to track down the teen within an hour thanks to help from the Newgrounds community. He was found with a knife, matches and a canister of flammable liquid, looking like he meant serious business.
The worst part of this story is that it's happened before, which makes the apprahended firestarter look even more stupid. Last year, a GameFAQs poster burned down a church and then boasted about it on the message board, an act which led to his arrest. If you can't learn from people's mistakes, then you really shouldn't be allowed out of your house.A wannabe UK arsonist has been intercepted and arrested by police after he was caught... more

Labour MP Keith "Vadge" Vaz has been obsessed with violent videogames ever since he wrongly attributed the murder of Stephen Pakeerah to Manhunt, a theory which the police have since debunked, but that Vaz still maintains as truth. Speaking at Prime Minister's Questions yesterday, Vadge has continued to cast truth to the wind, as he demanded tougher ratings for videogames.
"In a survey published last week, 74 percent of parents said that they were very concerned about the increasing level of violence in video games," said Vaz, lying that the survey said violence was increasing. "Given the fact that there is increasing availability of these games on the internet exhibiting scenes of graphic and gratuitous violence, when is the government proposing to implement the Bryon Report in full?"
If you want some sort of clue as to just how little knowledge Vaz has on the subject, he once fully admitted that he had no idea what a PlayStation was, and yet still decided to claim that the PSP has videogames that allow you to rape women.

Did you know that playing World of Warcraft is addictive to its players on par with cocaine? It's true!* Too bad you don't get the by-product of a slimmer physique and coke-fueled sex benders...
But after a boy in Laholm, Sweden was hospitalized following a 20-hour-plus World of Warcraft bender, the results were clear: WoW is dangerous, WoW is wack.
This has since lead Sweden's Youth Care Foundation to brand the massively multiplayer online role-playing game as "the cocaine of the computer games world" and send Daily Mail editors into a tizzy.
That accusation of World of Warcraft's addictive properties was levied author Sven Rollenhagen, who said: "There is not a single case of game addiction that we have worked with in which World of Warcraft has not played a part." Scary!
It's all very alarming though. So if you like being alarmed, we'd suggest clicking over to the Daily Mail.
* Probably not actually true, except on Bizarro World.

They say that Christmas is all about the giving.
But a man in Portsmouth, New Hampshire apparently missed the memo.
The Associated Press reports that Heath Blom, 26, and his girlfriend Randi Young, 24, were arrested after an argument over Christmas gifts turned into a brawl.
From the AP:
According to Portsmouth police, Blom was disappointed when he did not receive the $1,000 airplane he had asked for from his grandparents, and was underwhelmed by the gift he received from Young: a Nintendo Wii video game console...
An argument ensued, and Young allegedly hid the gift and began packing her bags. Insults flew, and a fist fight between the two allegedly ended in a two-story tumble down the stairs.
“He dragged me down two flights of stairs, by the hair,” Young claimed on Friday... "This was the worst Christmas ever."They say that Christmas is all about the giving.
