Hello fellow Current.com users!
I just got back from a fantastic trip to Vegas and I wanted to share the great experience I had.
If you’re up for a night of surrealism, Cirque du Soliel offers “Believe.” Illusionist Criss Angel works with the experts at Cirque du Soleil to shock and awe audiences with unbelievable magic and impressive acrobatic feats. After the show, we continued on a "mysterious" sort of theme with a trip to Twist by Pierre Gagnaire at the Mandarin Oriental. Talk about explosive flavors!
Criss Angel has recently added 30 new illusions to the ongoing show at the Luxor and The Mandarin Oriental afterwards continued the sort of ambience and cuisine that highlighted the surrealist tones of "Believe." The show was unbelievable and the food consisted of combinations of the highest quality ingredients. In a lot of ways dinner was just as delightful as the Cirque show, courtesy of star chef Pierre Gagnaire.

Cynthia McKinney ..... Thanks to all who have come out and participated in the Truth Tour. I have almost come to its end. Last night in Detroit, several of the women were moved to tears as I explained the situation in Libya right now as I know it to be. Every venue has had every seat occupied or was filled to capacity with standing room only. Detroit's young singer and band, Sister Ziyah and Black Rain were phenomenal and their music set the tone for the event: first song, Kickstart the Revolution; second song, Good Morning, America; third song, Today, I'm a Better Me. This Truth Tour has been unique because the true peace people in this country have revealed themselves by their willingness to step forward and be counted against this war in the very midst of the worst deceit and demonization ever. NATO war crimes are being excused, discounted, or covered up by those who posed as supporters of justice and peace. It is never OK to bomb people. And it is never OK to ask the peace-loving people of this country to sacrifice Social Security and Medicare and education and housing--and I could go on and on--so that war profiteers can fatten their ill-gotten coffers. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/recent-news/43002-libya-truth-tourCynthia McKinney ..... The Prince Philip Movement is a cargo cult of the Yaohnanen tribe on the southern island of Tanna in Vanuatu. The Yaohnanen believe that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the consort to Queen Elizabeth II, is a divine being, the pale-skinned son of a mountain spirit and brother of John Frum. According to ancient tales the son travelled over the seas to a distant land, married a powerful lady and would in time return. The villagers had observed the respect accorded to Queen Elizabeth II by colonial officials and came to the conclusion that her husband, Prince Philip, must be the son from their legends. When the cult formed is unclear, but it is likely that it was sometime in the 1950s or 1960s. Their beliefs were strengthened by the royal couple’s official visit to Vanuatu in 1974 when a few villagers had the opportunity to observe the prince from afar. Prince Philip was made aware of the religion and has exchanged gifts with its leaders and even visited them.... http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/bizzareweird/42988-the-prince-philip-movementThe Prince Philip Movement is a cargo cult of the Yaohnanen tribe on the southern... more

The date May 21, 2011 has passed, and as it turns out, the Second Coming of Christ will be delayed another few months. Harold Camping's latest erroneous doomsday prediction brings his record to 0-2 -- he previously prophesied the world would end in 1994, and as far as we know, it didn't.

Listen to your heart & believe,Understand the metaphor's of life & maybe you'll succeed, presented in plain sight they are shown,so just keep your focus & you might see,what once was hard to grasp now is easy for me to achieve, all you gotta do is listen to your heart & believe,Just believe & never give up on yourself,because sometimes your hope's & your dream's are all you have...If you nurish & keep hold on to what you believe & visualize it accurately,then it will grow like a tree planted by the river's of water that will bear fruit of faith for you to eat & if you decide to share some fruit be selective,& like all tree's,care & nurishment is is needed,so stay with a good heart, stay as truthful & loyal to those you care for as long as they show the same in return,but even if they don't show respect to them or to yourself...Staying cool,calm & collective is always a must,when around unfamiliar people,whenever you feel strained with anxiety smoke some marijuana & relax or go somewhere of comfort...Where you can be alone...once your at the location find a place to sit or stand....clear your mind...picture an empty canvas...Slowly raise both arms with your fingertips extended as well,& stretch,then breath in slowly & exhale fully & lower your arms why'll doing this keep your eye's closed with the empty canvas in thought & paint that canvas anyway you want let your thoughts just flow onto the canvas visualize until the anxiety is breaking down with every bit of thought,that is added to the canvas & after you paint your picture then raise your arms slowly eye's still closed...Why'll raising arms...extend fingers count to 10 during this process when arms are fully raised finger's extend then lower them & exhale fully as you do this that canvas you pictured mentally throw it, visualize it going,going,going,until it simply disappears then slowly open your eyes & now your more focused to think clearly...Believe with your heart,& the mind follows positively...But truly believe...fully with your Heart.. In his brief article "Is Atheism Logical?", Hank Hanegraaff, , better known to most as "The Bible Answer Man." tries to show that atheism is not rationally justifiable. Although Hanegraaff's argument may have a superficial plausibility for some believers, it contains numerous errors.. First of all, Hanegraaff seems to believe that atheists must be able to be certain that there is no God in order for atheism to be rationally justifiable. This is not at all true. Although I am not certain that the sun will rise tomorrow (for all I know, a great cosmic catastrophe, perhaps the decay of the vacuum state of our universe, will annihilate the sun before it can rise tomorrow) I am certainly rationally justified in believing that it will. ......... http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/recent-news/367-atheism-In his brief article "Is Atheism Logical?", Hank Hanegraaff, , better known... more

There is really only one way to stop the collateral murder by our military: stop the wars and bring our troops home.
April 7, 2010 |
“Let us not become the evil we deplore”, warned Cong. Barbara Lee when she cast the lone vote against going to war in Afghanistan in September 2001. Well, it’s time to look in the mirror—and it’s not a pretty picture.
Just contemplate these two incidents, one that took place in Iraq in 2007 and has now gone viral on the internet, the other that took place in Gardaz, Afghanistan in February 2010.
Baghdad: U.S. aerial shooters chuckle as they let loose a torrent of bullets, killing over a dozen people, including two Reuters staff. Then they unleash another round on an Iraqi who—passing by in his van—tries to help the wounded. When the American soldiers discover they have hit two children in the van, they can be heard snorting, “It's their fault for bringing their kids into a battle.”
No one—from those who pulled the triggers to those who gave the okay—has been punished for the murder of these innocents. That’s because this blatant disregard for human life falls within the rules of engagement. And the only reason the incident came to light is thanks to Reuters for its persistence and to Wikileaks for procuring the footage and putting on their site.
Gardez, Afghanistan: US Special Operations forces surround a home where a party is taking place for the birth of a grandson. Two men come out to see why they are being surrounded. They are shot dead. The US soldiers later report they found three women inside the house, gagged and murdered by their own relatives.
The Times of London later reports that the women were killed by the American soldiers. Not only that. To hide the murder, the soldiers dug bullets out of the women’s bodies and washed the wounds with alcohol to hide the evidence. One of the women was a pregnant mother of 10; another was a pregnant mother of six; the third was a teenage girl.
No one has been punished in this incident either. General McChrystal was briefed on the case in March but said nothing about it. The murders only came to light because the Times reporter Jerome Starkey visited the family and talked to Afghan investigators.
While McChrystal issued a new directive in July 2009 restricting activities likely to result in civilian casualties and urged troops to act with greater sensitivity to Afghan cultural and religious concerns, the killing of innocents continues. According to the UN, at least 98 Afghan civilians were killed in night raids in 2009.
The same is true at checkpoints. In a rare moment of honesty, while addressing a virtual townhall with troops in Afghanistan, General McChrystal admitted, "We really ask a lot of our young service people out on the checkpoints because there's danger, they're asked to make very rapid decisions in often very unclear situations. However, to my knowledge, in the nine-plus months I've been here, not a single case where we have engaged in an escalation of force incident and hurt someone has it turned out that the vehicle had a suicide bomb or weapons in it and, in many cases, had families in it…We've shot an amazing number of people and killed a number and, to my knowledge, none has proven to have been a real threat to the force."
Our killing of civilians has spread to Pakistan, where the most deadly attacks come from unmanned drones. A report by the New America Foundation speculates that U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan have killed somewhere around 700 to 1,000 people, one-third of them civilians.
As Americans on conscience, we can’t stand by and allow these killings to continue. Here are some actions we should we be calling for:
* stop the air wars, including the deadly drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan;
* stop the night raids that sow terror and abuse;
* hold the soldiers and higher ups accountable for their actions, including General McChrystal;
* pressure Congress to hold hearings on these atrocities;
* organize teach-ins that educate the public and help build the anti-war movement.
These are all critical actions to engage in. But there is really only one way to stop the collateral murder by our military: stop the wars and bring our troops home. The Obama administration is now asking Congress for another $33 billion of our tax dollars for war. Enough is enough. These are wars we can’t afford, we can’t win, and we can’t condone on moral grounds. Call your representatives—202-224-3121—and tell them “No more money for war.” It’s time we stop being and funding the evil we deplore.
Do not stay silent and complacent to collateral murder. Sign-on to CODEPINK's condemnation of the cover-ups and demand accountability for past and present war crimes.There is really only one way to stop the collateral murder by our military: stop the... more

Muslims believe in the One, Unique, Incomparable, Merciful God - the Sole Creator, Sustainer and Cherisher of the Universe; in the Angels created by Him; in the prophets through whom His revelations were brought to humankind; in the Day of Judgment, and in individual accountability for actions; in God's complete authority over destiny, be it good or bad and in life after death.
Muslims believe that God sent His messengers and prophets to all people. Biblical prophets mentioned in the Qur'an include: Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Lot, Ishmael, Isaac, Job, Ezekiel, Jacob, Joseph, Jonah, Jethro, Moses, Aaron, Elijah, Elisha, David, Solomon, Zechariah, John the Baptist, and Jesus; peace be upon them all.
God's final message to humanity was revealed to the last prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him), through the Archangel Gabriel. It confirmed and finalized all previous revelations that were sent to humankind through God's messengers.
One becomes a Muslim by believing and proclaiming that, "There is no deity except God, and that Muhammad is the messenger of God." By this declaration the believer announces his or her faith in all of God's messengers, and in the scriptures revealed to them.

Clean their mind, their heart and their soul real good.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Islam concerns the name “Allah.” Some people believe that Muslims worship a different God than Christians, Jews and others, and some missionary organizations distribute literature in English in which they say such things as: “Allah is the God of the Muslims” and ” Muhammad told people to believe in the God, Allah.” They thus imply and reinforce the idea that “Allah” is some sort of false deity ... more

LAGOS, Nigeria – One of Nigeria's biggest daily newspapers reported that police implicated a goat in an attempted automobile theft. In a front-page article on Friday, the Vanguard newspaper said that two men tried to steal a Mazda car two days earlier in Kwara State, with one suspect transforming himself into a goat as vigilantes cornered him.
The paper quoted police spokesman Tunde Mohammed as saying that while one suspect escaped, the other transformed into a goat as he was about to be apprehended.
The newspaper reported that police paraded the goat before journalists, and published a picture of the animal.
Police in the state couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

NEW YORK – Jose Canseco might want to dust off that muscled-up "Bash Brother" moniker one more time. He needs a colorful nickname for his introduction as he enters the boxing ring Saturday night for a celebrity match against child star-turned-radio host Danny Bonaduce. Before Canseco pummels a Partridge, he wants a flashy name that fits the oversized personality of the former steroid-fueled slugger.
"Hercules," chirps his girlfriend, Heidi Northcott.
"The Destroyer," Canseco offers.
Certainly, he means by knockout punches, not destroyer of reputations.
The former major leaguers named in Canseco's 2005 book on steroid use in professional baseball might suggest far less heroic names for the 1988 AL MVP. But just as he's set to show in his three-round fight with Bonaduce, Canseco is ready to take his punches.
"I'm the bad guy no matter where I go," he said.
Former Oakland A's teammate Ricky Henderson is going into the Hall of Fame this summer and fellow Bash Brother Mark McGwire has withdrawn from public life. The 44-year-old Canseco still seeks the spotlight, a puffed-up sideshow on the same road other fallen celebrities have traveled in last-gasp bids to cash in on their notoriety. The man who was once the most feared power hitter in baseball finds himself training to drill a D-list celebrity in suburban Philadelphia.
He's written two books, starred in a pair of reality shows, and is taking his second swing at celebrity boxing. By his acknowledgment, he needs the money. So he'll let shock jock Howard Stern needle him about what steroids did to his sex drive as long as he can tout his upcoming match.NEW YORK – Jose Canseco might want to dust off that muscled-up "Bash... more

Los Angeles (E! Online) – When it comes to putting up with rumors of a feud, the female half of ABBA has been nothing but super troupers.
Until, that is, last night, when Swedish songbirds Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad—perhaps better known these days as the ones who sang the songs before Meryl Streep—denied they have or ever had bad blood while picking up a Lifetime Achievement award in Stockholm.
"I would like to put the record straight on one thing," Lyngstad (the brunette one) told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. "A lot has been written about how Agnetha and I fought and quarreled with each other.
"There is absolutely no truth in that. Of course, we competed...but to good effect."
Fältskog (the blonde) echoed her onetime bandmate. "We didn't fight. But we have to live a whole lot of such misinterpretations."
As for whether the group is willing to take a chance on a reunion in the wake of their box office-assisted resurgence...
"Promotion and traveling—you don't want to do that anymore," Lyngstad said, while Fältskog got a little bit more to the point...and possibly shed light on how those feud rumors got started in the first place.
"You're just too old."
