Taking Flight with Italy's Holiday Witch
A strange post-Christmas pilgrimage takes place each year in the hills of northeastern Italy's Le Marche, when thousands of kids flock to a small medieval town called Urbania to sit on the lap of an ugly old witch. On the eve of Jan. 6, La Befana flies down chimneys or through keyholes throughout Italy to have her say over who's been naughty or nice. But that's about all she has in common with Old Saint Nick.

In Babbo Natale, Italy has its own Father Christmas.
But it's La Befana, the ugly, broom-flying and present-wielding witch who keeps children on their toes in many parts of the country. Like St. Nick, Befana knows who's been naughty and nice.

Worst Corporation report for 2008.
The Multinational Monitor releases an annual list of the 10 worst corporations of the year and in this year's report there are some familiar faces:
AIG,
Cargill,
Chevron,
Constellation Energy,
Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC),
Dole,
General Electric (GE),
Imperial Sugar,
Phillip Morris International,
and Roche.
There are common themes that tie together many of the unethical and harmful activities these corporations have committed, and in many cases, gotten away with. Cheif among these themes is improper political influence.

Senator Carol Mosley Braun, who lives in the same neighborhood, was mugged
"When are we going to get concealed carry for the citizens of Illinois?"
As most of you know, Chicago and Cook County are very corrupt entities as proven by Federal investigations and criminal trials there.
The big question now is whether President Obama will keep U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald who has systematically hunted down those responsible for corruption in Chicago. Obama, who owes the Chicago big city political machine big time, could have his new U.S. Justice Department head appointee promote Fitzgerald and send him to another area far from Chicago or simply transfer him out. The problem with this is it would cause a strong public outcry. Another way would be to underfund or limit manpower for Fitzgerald's Chicago operation. This would take the heat off those who are under investigation or already indicted for corruption. And then it would be back to business as usual. The Chicago way as they say.
Last year former Senator Carol Mosley Braun, who lives in the same neighborhood, was mugged there also. If these high profile people can't be protected, where does that leave the rest of us ordinary people?
Big city Chicago Democratic machine politicians are the main obstacle to getting concealed carry in Illinois. These same politicians have made a mess of Chicago by levying higher taxes for its citizens, waste, and widespread corruption. Politicians responsible for this mess should be voted out of office and those caught with their hands in the cookie jar, imprisoned.

Unfortunately, head injuries are very common with children, accounting for approximately one hundred thousand hospitalizations annually.
Modes of injury include motor vehicle accidents, bicycle accidents, falls, sporting injuries, and child abuse. Certain aspects of brain injury are unique to children.
For example, it is more difficult to determine the measure the loss of brain function in a child. In adults there are prior academic records, I.Q. scores, and job histories to rely on.
At one time it was assumed that children were more resistant to brain trauma than adults because their developing brains could rewire over time. However, mounting evidence seems to suggest otherwise. In fact, it may be that children are more susceptible than adults to permanent brain damage even when the forces involved are equivalent.
