The Year of Yin Earth Ox 己丑 begins January 26th. The first day of the Chinese New Year falls on the second New Moon after the winter solstice. The forthcoming year is formally called Ji Chou.
In the 'Stem-Branch' system, the years are counted in 60-year character cycles.
