At the beginning of October 2009, I began reporting on the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda's struggle for inclusion in Rwanda's 2010 presidential election. The story grew to be the story of all three of the major Rwandan opposition parties' struggle to be included in the 2010 presidential election.
I have reported on this for KPFA and KMEC Radio and have each time posted the news report with a video elaboration. This is the first of four videos on the subject---not only the Rwanda Greens, but Rwanda and the struggle for democracy in Rwanda. Grenades exploded at a bus station, a restaurant, and a commercial building site in Kigali, Rwanda, in the increasingly tense run up to Rwanda's 2010 presidential election on August 9th. Leading FDU-Inkingi candidate Victoire Ingabiré Umuhoza anticipated her arrest.
Since this news report, Ingabiré hss requested temporary refugee status at the UK Embassy in Kigali, which has not yet responded.
