“The End.” It’s a title card that’s not used nearly as often in film anymore. Depending on the film, those two little words can illicit feelings of disappointment, confusion, laughter, sadness, satisfaction and, if it’s a truly terrible movie, relief.
A group on Flickr has gone through and made a collection of the many ways “The End” appears at the end of films and TV series. The images span decades and are really quite amusing.“The End.” It’s a title card that’s not used nearly as often... more

Here’s a luggage set that’ll raise eyes at the airport. Designed by French artist PinkWolf, these attractive, satirical carrying cases feature molded gun, knife and axe designs on their exterior. You can get a better look of the cases by visiting the artist’s website. The site’s in French, so if you speak the language you’re in luck. But if you’re like me and speak only two languages – English and bad English – there are plenty of pretty-shiny designs and pictures to look at.Here’s a luggage set that’ll raise eyes at the airport. Inspired by Picasso’s Portrait of Dora Maar, Poole, Dorset, England, auto mechanic Andy Saunders spent six months transforming an old Citroen 2CV car into a work of cubist art. Publicly unveiled at 2007’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Citroen blurs the line between art and traditional car design. The cubist car can still reach up to 65 miles-per-hour and with its misplaced headlights is legal to drive, but only during the day when signals can be made using hand indicators.Inspired by Picasso’s Portrait of Dora Maar, Poole, Dorset, England, auto... more

Here’s one guitar that may not be a whole lot of fun to smash on stage after a killer set.
Artist Brian Chivers owns BC Glass Studio and has been involved with glass art for over 20 years. During this time the artist/musician began making glass guitar replicas, models for display purposes only. But it was an encounter with the legendary Les Paul that inspired Chivers to take his glass guitar model one step further – to create one that can be played. Here’s one guitar that may not be a whole lot of fun to smash on stage after a... more

Most people take crosswalks for granted, some ignore their presence altogether and walk when they want and where they want. Maybe that’s why 25% of all automobile accidents involve pedestrians. Perhaps spicing up the rather boring design of crosswalks will help reduce accident statistics. These artistically designed crosswalks are certainly eye-catching and hard to ignore. Most people take crosswalks for granted, some ignore their presence altogether and... more

Essentially concept art for the future, NASA’s vision of space exploration was truly epic and as of 2009, sadly unrealized. Turkish artists Filiz Ates and Christiane Alaettinoglu comb the beaches of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast in search of yalos, a term meaning “coastline”. Since there’s not a word in the Turkish language for “driftwood”, “yalos” has been adopted in its stead. Once collected, the artists don’t alter the beached yalos in any way, there’s absolutely zero carving or cutting involved. According to the artists “…the artistic work has already been done. Our job is only to put together and to bring out the beauty perfectly created by nature…what you see is what we found on the beaches of Alanya.”
The artists craft sculptures and decorations from the wood in the form of various animals and figures, as well as create jewelry.Turkish artists Filiz Ates and Christiane Alaettinoglu comb the beaches of... more
