Americans are living longer than ever, but not as long as people in 41 other countries. The U.S. has slipped in international rankings of life expectancy as other countries improve health care, nutrition and lifestyles. A baby born in the U.S. in 2004 will live an average of 77.9 years. That life expectancy ranks 42nd – down from 11th two decades earlier. (1)
“Something’s wrong here when one of the richest countries in the world, the one that spends the most on health care, is not able to keep up with other countries,” said Dr. Christopher Murray, head of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

The best advice on ‘how to get ahead in business’ will never come from those who make their fortune selling the concept through books and seminars. It will come from a proven leader. The problem? They are too busy to share.
Now a new website will turn the old adage of “those who can, do, those who can’t teach” on its head.
‘Can-do’ leaders such as Herbert Hainer, Chairman and CEO of Adidas, Jeff Hayzlett, Kodak’s CMO and Vice President, and Esat Sezer, CIO for Coca-Cola, are amongst the hundreds of Fortune 500 CEOs and visionary entrepreneurs who share their hard-won expertise on new online business channel MeetTheBoss TV, which launched this week.
MeetTheBoss TV aims to be the executive channel – helping users to become the complete executive with exclusive video and audio lessons from the world’s most innovative and influential business leaders.
It is focused on the business challenges that matter, clearly explaining the solutions, competitive strategies, people and thinking around them.
Such thought provoking and often career changing advice from proven world business leaders has never been this accessible, this immediate, or this free.
2009 illustrated the immense power of social media. Hubs for knowledge sharing, such as Twitter and Linked-In, became essential – but key figures remained elusive.
“We hope to provide a resource for business professionals to access information from leading executives that they simply would not be able to access through conventional social media or anywhere else,” says Adam Burns, senior editor at MeetTheBoss TV.
“Programs can be watched whole, or by topic; on the desktop, laptop or smartphone. Delivering value quickly for the time-poor exec, wherever they are.”
The site boasts on-demand advice from household names such as Google, Amazon, Kellogg’s and DreamWorks and is set to revolutionise leadership learning. “Our programs are high quality, quick to load, and free to view. Companies are already integrating them into their training programs,” says Richard Stirk, vice president, MeetTheBoss TV. “One senior executive from a major global software company called our programs ‘essential viewing’.”
Exclusive insight into what makes the world’s business leaders tick should mean better business for all. And in this economy, that’s a good thing.

Kellogg is rationing its Eggo products due to flooding and equipment problems at two bakeries. The shortfall could last through mid-2010.
Better hoard your Eggos!
Grocery stores will be experiencing a shortage of the waffles until mid-2010 due to problems at two bakeries, a Kellogg's spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Flooding at an Atlanta bakery during heavy rains in October forced Kellogg, which makes Eggo products, to shut down production temporarily, said company spokesman Kris Charles. Plus, equipment at Kellogg's largest waffle facility, based in Rossville, Tenn., needs extensive repairs.

When Kellogg's dumped its endorsement of Michael Phelps after a photograph surfaced of the Olympic gold medalist using a bong, the company was stuck with thousands of boxes of cereal featuring the swimmer's image.
No problem. The company, based in Battle Creek, Michigan, made short order of the already-printed and filled boxes, donating two tons of cereal to the San Francisco Food Bank late last month. When Kellogg's dumped its endorsement of Michael Phelps after a photograph... more

Out of the 5,600 company reputations Vanno monitors, Kellogg ranked ninth before it booted Phelps. Now it's ranked 83. Not even an industry-wide peanut scare inflicted as much damage on the food company's reputation.
I never went out of my way to purchase Kelloggs products in the past, but I do go out of my way not to purchase Kelloggs products today.
I am not boycotting them, I’m just not buying them. Many Americans want cannabis hemp laws changed. There are important facts about cannabis hemp, which have been removed from public knowledge. Many people are finding out facts, which change the discussion. Cannabis hemp has history, economically, environmentally and physically.
Cannabis hemp has thousands of years of history. Good, productive history. In the 30’s that history started to disappear with the use of the term marijuana, classifying cannabis hemp as a drug only. People have been led to believe that if they supported cannabis hemp, they were soft on drugs. It’s time for that bull**it to stop. Cannabis hemp could be very beneficial for America. If you haven’t read the book “The Emperor Wears No Clothes”, you should. It’s all backed up with documentation to substantiate the facts. Facts matter! It’s time to stop spinning marijuana and talk about cannabis hemp!Out of the 5,600 company reputations Vanno monitors, Kellogg ranked ninth before it... more

Lynchburg-based Peanut Corp. of America issued the recall late Tuesday for 21 lots of peanut butter made since July 1 at its plant in Blakely, Ga., because of possible salmonella contamination.
