Coordinated teams of hacktivists will wage war on Sony on Monday to punish the company for supporting the controversial US Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). The Anonymous collective plans to hack Sony.com and load the homepage with BitTorrent files that allow users to download copyright-protected music and movies -- the very action SOPA is designed to prevent. Hackers also plan to strike Sony Music's online store, reducing the cost of songs to zero. http://www.freeturbine.com/index.php/news/concerts-news/item/anonymous-to-hack-sony-on-mondayCoordinated teams of hacktivists will wage war on Sony on Monday to punish the company... more

We’ve just completed a major revamp of our site and wanted to let you know what we’ve been up to. Over the past several months, we’ve set out to improve upon the features that we know you love and also to introduce you to some of our amazing content that was previously hard to find – we think you’ll love it too.
To accomplish this, we've made some pretty significant changes, added new functionality, and even brought some old friends back to the party. Without further ado, here are some of the major changes:Simplified LayoutWe’ve made it easier to navigate your way to your favorite places on the site. Are you looking to catch up on infoMania? Maybe you’re curious about what our Vanguard correspondents are up to? Each show has its own page, and all the show pages are easy to find from anywhere on the site – just roll over the TV SHOWS tab and you’ll see them all. If you’re interested in the popular news stories submitted to Current TV by members of our community, roll your mouse over the NEWS tab, and select the category that catches your fancy. Some people prefer to just kick back and watch a good session of original video from Current TV. If that sounds like your cup of tea, click on the VIDEO tab, choose a TV show or channel, and soak in a feed of your favorite videos from Current TV.As on the old site, you can still click on the SCHEDULE tab to see what’s airing on Current TV in your time zone, and take a look at what is coming up a full week in advance.A new addition to our site is the Participate section, which will always have the latest opportunities to submit content to Current TV for use online and on air. Whether you want to participate in the latest BFD (Big Featured Discussion), upload your entry for the latest VCAM (Viewer Created Ad Message) assignment, submit webcams in response to a recent Current TV show, or submit news stories to discuss with your fellow community members, the PARTICIPATE tab is the one to click to get involved with all things Current TV.Home Page MarqueeThe new home page marquee has a more cinematic feel – now we’re using the full width of the site to present top-shelf content: not-to-be-missed broadcasts, great web extras from our TV shows, and must-read popular news stories. Find Us on Your TVNow it’s easier than ever to find Current TV in your living room. We’re often asked, “Hey Current TV person, where can I find your shows on my TV?” So now our most common channels and our handy channel finder are front and center on the home page.Popular StoriesWe heard your feedback loud and clear, so we've re-introduced the popular feed to the home page! The Popular Stories area lists stories posted to Current.com by you, in order of popularity as determined by our community. It's powered by an all-new scoring system that takes your votes, views and comments into account when programming items into the feed. What are you waiting for? Participate in making a story popular enough to hit our home page and rise through the ranks to number one!Big Featured Discussions (BFD)This is a brand new way to participate on Current TV, and we’re excited to see what you think of it. Big Featured Discussions are, as the title implies, interesting topics we’re serving up for the community to tackle on a daily basis. Discussions could come from a hot topic in the news, a TV show host with a bone to pick, or from who knows where – your guess is as good as ours to see where this ends up! To make things more interesting, you can vote each response posted on a BFD into popularity, and we will feature the best-of-the-best on our home page. We have a lot of ideas for this new addition to the site, so we hope you’ll dive into our BFDs, participate, and vote, vote, vote!Popular CommentsOur new home page now features popular comments from all the discussions around the Current TV site based on votes from our community. Help others discover the best conversations brewing on the site by voting up comments to surface on our home page.Your FeedbackWe always love hearing from you, so please take some time to share your thoughts, suggestions or questions on our new feedback page. The work around here never stops – tomorrow it’s onto more improvements, so let us know what you like, what you don’t like, and what you’d like to see next! Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you enjoy the new experience waiting for you at Current.com.We’ve just completed a major revamp of our site and wanted to let you know what... more

There are plenty of misconceptions regarding the use of nuclear energy. The American public’s opinion has been swayed over the years from events like the disaster at Chernobyl to Homer Simpson’s two decades of employment at the Springfield Power Plant. Years of concern over the misuse of nuclear power have overshadowed the potential of nuclear energy as an alternative to our reliance on carbon-producing coal and natural gas energy. Nuclear energy is not renewable like other alternative sources, but it is cleaner than coal. In fact, nuclear power plants actually produce less radiation than coal-powered plants. Here are the pros and cons of nuclear power:

Causecast Music interviewed The David Crowder Band, an award-winning six-piece electronic rock and worship band from Waco Texas, to discuss the mechanics of social change, Mission Waco, and Twitter.
"We, in fact, saw that on the last tour we did, each night, I would do research for each city that we’re going to – me and some folks that are surrounding and helping us do what we’re doing. We would look and see what’s going on in each city, socially speaking – organizations that were really having an impact, that were making a difference. Pulling people up out of where they were and helping them have some forward sight, you know? And then I’d write out this big sheet of paper that we’d hand everybody and say, ‘Look, these are the things that are going on right among you; we have a responsibility."http://www.causecast.org/news_items/9437-the-david-crowderband-on-the-mechanics-of-chan... more

Organic Bikes is a line of green bicycles created by the Wisconsin bike retailer Wheels and Sprocket. The company’s eco-friendly bikes are made of bamboo. For someone who makes a habit of testing the limits of gravity, this sounds a little bit like an accident waiting to happen, but these bike are just as solid as their aluminum counterparts. Bamboo bikes are strong and lightweight, the perfect combo!
In addition to the bamboo, Organic Bikes are crafted from a small amount of recycled aluminum alloy – the same stuff soda cans are made out of. The recycled aluminum only requires five-percent of the energy it takes to create new aluminum making it ultra-eco friendly. Organic bikes use far less aluminum alloy than a regular bicycle and substitute bamboo for the majority of the tubing on the bike’s frame. Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource, so its environmental impact is low compared to metals, slow growing woods or other materials. Plus, bamboo materials are bio-degradable, so if you’re like me and break things that should be indestructible, you won’t be clogging a landfill like old metal bikes do.Organic Bikes is a line of green bicycles created by the Wisconsin bike retailer... more

So you have kids. We all want our children to grow up to be healthy, happy adults, but sometimes navigating the minefield of information out there exhorting us to “do this” and “be that” is mind numbing, to say the least. President Barack Obama made a surprise visit to the White House press corps Thursday night, but got agitated when he was faced with a substantive question.
Asked how he could reconcile a strict ban on lobbyists in his administration with a deputy defense secretary nominee who lobbied for Raytheon, Obama interrupted with a knowing smile on his face.
"Ahh, see," he said, "I came down here to visit. See this is what happens. I can't end up visiting with you guys and shaking hands if I'm going to get grilled every time I come down here."
Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, William J. Lynn III, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter's shoulder and staring him in the eye.
"Alright, come on" he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. "We will be having a press conference at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys - that's all I was trying to do."
The president was quickly saved by a cameraman in the room who called out: “I’d like to say
it one more time: ‘Mr. President.’ ”

So am I.
Please don't initially place this story at #278 on page 14.
Current has a lot of good things going for it, but here is some feedback that I think should be considered.
Please create a "newest story" list on the homepage. Allow users to access the freshest stories coming into the site as they are contributed.
I'm so tired of submitting stuff that never starts within the first 15 pages. And yes I've looked. and yes these stories never have more than 2 views, both mine, after 5 days.
To be honest, after the homepage, who has time to search through the next 20 pages of content that is so jumbled?
Also, it would be nice to see the current ranking of the story on the actual story page, so you don't have to search through 15 pages to see where it started.
What do others think? If you would like to have an "up to the minute recently added stories list" on the homepage vote this up. If not, well, do what you always do...suppress me with mob rule!So am I.
