The truth is that political parties don't run this country, money does. Our entire political system is based on wealth. This has been true in some degree since the day we gained our independence, but it has never been as apparent as it is now.

When the committee was informed by Director Panetta, everyone was stunned across the board, Republicans and Democrats. As well as we should be in terms of having something absolutely concealed from all members of Congress. The top leadership of the Congress didn't know. So this is serious.

I am typing up the contents of pafes 111, 112, qnd 113 from this great book. You will be stunned to hear the truth from this great writer (John Pilger) whom the Guardian has said that "the truth in his hands is a weapon, to be picked up and brandished nd used in the struggle aainst evil and injstice.'
IJohn Pilger challenges us in the West to 'look in the mirror' at the actions of 'or' governments for the true source of much of the world's fear and insecurity - and terrorism.
John Pilger's vivid eyewittness reporting, backed by meticulous research, blows away the secrets and lies of our rulers and turns a searchlight on events consigned to shadows and an unrecognised yet virulent censorship.
World–renowned journalist John Pilger looks at five nations (Palestine, Diego Garcia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and South Africa) that have undergone long and painful struggles for freedom, yet are still waiting for its realizationI am typing up the contents of pafes 111, 112, qnd 113 from this great book. We also are working on the footage of the actual boarding that one of the passengers recorded and brought out. Mostly, it appears as though the ten men who came on board were completely masked, carrying an inordinate number of weapons, and spent their time raising their masks and throwing up overboard, when they weren't ordering the passengers around.
Huwaida was also handcuffed, as well as four men who had their cameras on when the Israeli commando/terrorists boarded our small ferry carrying 21 unarmed passengers. We also are working on the footage of the actual boarding that one of the passengers... more

Israel's illegal wall traps Palestinians, how would you like it if you had to live like this.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has called on Israel to comply with an international court ruling and dismantle its separation barrier through occupied Palestinian land.
Five years ago, the International Court of Justice ruled that the barrier was illegal and should be taken down, but Israel continues to ignore international demands.

[RAMALLAH, 9 July 2009] - Today is the 5th anniversary of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Advisory Opinion regarding the construction of the Wall in the West Bank, which found that the Wall, permit systems, and land confiscation in the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) violate international law. Despite this finding Israel is continuing to build the Wall illegally. Since the Advisory Opinion of the ICJ in 2004 Israel has added an additional 200km to the Wall. Israel’s repeatedly claims that its conduct is justified by “security needs.” However, the ICJ stated that the international law violations stemming from the route of the Wall cannot be justified by military requirements or protecting public welfare.
The security needs of Israel and self-defence remain the main justification fo

Robert Fisk, my number one favourite award winning journalist and author tells us :
But up come the spoilsports, namely the Canadian "Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid", to suggest that the scrolls, originally in the hands of the Jordanian Department of Antiquities and the Ecole Biblique Française, were "confiscated and illegally removed by Israel" in 1967. The Royal Ontario Museum, the protesters say, is showing "looted" property which it has no right to exhibit. The Palestinian Authority itself has intervened, arguing that the museum is "displaying artefacts removed from the Palestinian territories".
The story of the discovery of the scrolls is, of course, well known. An Arab Bedouin boy, Mohamed el-Dib, found them at Khirbet Qumran in a cave in what is now the occupied West Bank of Palestine in 1947, and handed them over to a cobbler turned antiquities dealer called Khalil Eskander Shahin in Jerusalem; they eventually ended up in the hands of scholars – mostly American – in the Jordanian side of Jerusalem. Then came the 1967 war and the arrival of the Israeli army in East Jerusalem and... well, you can imagine the rest.
So cautious are the dear old Canadians – who should by now have learned that concealing unhappy truths will only create fire and pain – that they do not even mention that "Kando", the first recipient of the scrolls, was Armenian. Of course not. Because then they would have to explain why an Armenian was in Jerusalem, not in western Turkey. Which would mean that they would have to mention the Armenian Holocaust of 1915 (one and a half million Armenian civilians murdered by Ottoman Turks).Robert Fisk, my number one favourite award winning journalist and author tells us :... more

Obama neglected to mention that his vice president openly calls himself a “Zionist.” After all, the daddy of his very own Chief of Staff was one, too. And furthermore, was part of a terrorist group–one that killed a lot of Brits and Arabs at a funny little place called the King David Hotel in Jerusalem . That happened in 1946, which was too long ago for most Americans, but not for people with long memories like Middle Easterners.
Anyway, if it’s Americans or Israelis that kill, THEY can’t be “terrorists,” can they?Obama neglected to mention that his vice president openly calls himself a... more

Really, it‘s no secret that America is heartily disliked in that part of the world–one reason he picks where he‘s going to show up there pretty carefully, I‘m sure. (It helps that Egypt gets more foreign aid than anybody else in the region, except, of course, for one itty-bitty place with a really bad rep in the hood.)
On the contrary, he tried to sound upbeat as he talked about how wonderful Islam has been for centuries.
And well he might.
After all, there are hundreds of millions of Muslims in the world. And oddly enough, most of them just don’t fancy hearing that their fellow Muslims are getting tortured and raped and killed by some Western country, no matter how hot its promises of freedom and democracy are.
So, he tried to sound a cheery note. The new sound of American “soft power.”he DIDN'T say that Israel has been committing war crimes in Palestine since... more

.It was essentially this adventurism, including the 1953 coup against Prime Minister Mossadeq, which justifiably distanced the CIA from genuine popular movements in the Middle East and beyond. Like most of these movements, ...
Unlike popular American media pundits who often thrive on one-sided descriptions of current events, simple “yes” or “no” explanations are rarely uttered at the Central Intelligence Agency’s analytical desk. Opinions on world affairs at the CIA’s Directorate of Intelligence (DI) tend to rely less on clear-cut absolutes and more on the fuzziness of frequency and statistical probability..It was essentially this adventurism, including the 1953 coup against Prime Minister... more

How long we live may not be determined by what we eat so much as how much we eat. Of all the potential antiaging approaches, none have so far shown the promise of caloric restriction. Over the past 75 years, many studies have shown that caloric restriction extends life span in a wide variety of species, from invertebrates to rodents, to mammals.
We knew it all the time, but now they tell us that a Twenty year study finds calorie restriction works in primates My collie dog could have told them that and saved them a lot of research expense.
The study divided 76 macaques aged 7 to 14 to receive diets that allowed them to consume as much food as they wanted, or diets which contained 30 percent fewer calories than the unrestricted diets. Thirty of the animals began the diets in 1989 and 46 in 1994.
As of this year, 80 percent of the animals given restricted diets are alive, compared to half of the unrestricted animals. Cancer and cardiovascular disease incidence is over 50 percent lower in the calorie restricted animals, and impaired glucose regulation has not been observed. "So far, we've seen the complete prevention of diabetes," Dr Weindruch stated.

Why is there so much liquidity in real estate and stocks? Or when it moves outside, why is it invested in those same sectors? One glaring example is the SR14 billion that recently left the Kingdom for the Dubai money market. Saudi investors are second in the Dubai money market as far as Gulf investment in the UAE is concerned. Saudi investments there are in addition to those in other Arab countries such as Egypt where Saudis are the leading investors.
Investing abroad is certainly not something bad or forbidden. We are proud that the government does not impose restrictions on citizens investing abroad — but we have to ask why Saudi money is leaving the country.

The decision taken by Jack Straw to change the law to now be able to prosecute those living in the UK and suspected of committing war crimes and acts of genocide as far back as 1991, has caused quite a stir in British media.
As Kate Allen explains in her piece on Independent Minds the expected change in law would apply only to those who are actually legally resident in the UK. That excludes anyone living here on spousal or student visas, work permits, or who are simply visiting. This is a major gap in the newly proposed changes and a loophole which possibly dozens of suspects can easily fall into. The decision taken by Jack Straw to change the law to now be able to prosecute those... more
