On the radio this morning I heard a broadcast by the government, it contained voice samples of a fertiliser salesman, a confused neighbour and various other individuals. the voices commented on slightly peculiar behaviour such as having blacked out windows on a normal terrace house and the purchase of a large amount of feritiliser. After the people have spoken a man's voice tells us that "all of these things may sound normal on their own but join them together and it all adds up,", then we're told that we should report anything remotely suspicious and a number to call is even given.
This to me seems especially wrong, first of all it is attempting to strengthen the belief that for Britain to be safe we must become undercover spies in our own homes, I can't help but see symmetry with the way the Nazi's developed their world of control for the peoples safety. Secondly it acts to increase the effect of terror by provoking a belief that we are at some great risk, rather than ensuring people remain strong in the face of such terror.
I hope that the people of Britain do not descend in to mindless accusations against people who do anything remotely peculiar, and that this nation does not become more and more like the police state which should be feared by all people who have any remote level of intelligence. So let us remove the ever tightening grip of totalitarianism in the UK, and hence save ourselves before it's too late.
Thankyou,

In a number of recent cases, scammers have taken information from real estate ads placed in local newspapers -- and also scanned photos of the houses for sale -- and posted classified ads on Craigslist.com that have convinced potential renters that THEY (the scammers) were renting these houses.

This statement, "Let not the hatred of a people toward you move you to commit injustice," is perhaps one of the most profound statements in the Qur'an.
I am constantly reminded by Muslims about all the sins committed by the "West" toward the Muslim World for the past 200 years. The "West," they tell me, has colonized Muslim land, stolen Muslim resources, divided Muslim societies, and despite having physically left the land, continues to control the Muslims through its support of brutal, puppet dictatorships. Yes, individual Western governments - called the "West" by my Muslim detractors - have committed terrible crimes on Muslim soil. This cannot be denied. It also cannot be denied, however, that individual Muslims have also committed terrible crimes on Western soil.
"Believers, stand out firmly for God, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others toward you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear God. For God is well-acquainted with all that you do." (Qur'an 5:8)
"...let not the hatred of some people in (once) shutting you out of the Sacred Mosque lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear God, for God is strict in punishment." (Qur'an 5:2)
This statement, "Let not the hatred of a people toward you move you to commit injustice," is perhaps one of the most - if not the most - profound statement in the Qur'an. No matter what has been done to you, God says, you are not allowed to commit injustice.

Restricting language is only possible in a totalitarian atmosphere. It was possible in Germany, in Bulgaria, in Cuba. It is possible where only one mode of communication dominates. So, no, you can’t sing an off-color song in Bulgaria. But even without such songs, they have drunkenness, adultery and suicide – but not on the radio.
Apparently the Jamaican Broadcast Commission wants a world that is uncomplicated, without pain for their children, not obscene, not profane. But it is a great mistake to blame songwriters, musical performers and broadcasters for the coarsening of the culture which is occurring worldwide.
John Updike writes that “popular” composers, from generation to generation, “if they do not teach us how to love, do lend our romances a certain accent and give our courting rites and their milieu … a background of communal experience.”
It should never be left to government to decide what is “worthy” or meritorious, even one as wise and prescient as the one presided over by Prime Minister Golding who, after only one year, seems so well begun in the hearts of his countrymen and in the eyes of the world. Nor should it be the province of a regulatory authority to decide what isnot.
Let the people of Jamaica exercise the only permissible form of censorship – by tuning out offensive material.
Jamaica should get out of the business of censorship and stick to the vital business of hospitality and tourism for which it is so justly renown.

We haven't wanted to start locking the doors but it is getting more dangerous. We had a man come in recently saying that he needed money and didn't want to hurt anyone. The minister got the nasty job of handling that situation.
The biggest problem we have had recently is that a young black man started attending several months ago. He was welcomed with open arms. I mention that he is black, only because we have a nearly all white congregation.
We have several families that are biracial. When he attended everyone was warm and accepting of him. He told many of us that he had been in prison for 27 years. It was a little intimidating but we all wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I told him that I had a son in prison and that I understood how hard it was to become integrated back into society.
