I have posted about this topic before and how it will be a trasnsformational technology in the area of manufacturing. The likely result is that the shift from local to foriegn manufacturing will shift back to local and then to personal as each home has a 3-D printer to manufacture most basic meterial needs. Read the attached article, and then lets discuss how you think this technology will impact our economy, and how you think society will change when the cost of something is reduced to the cost to obtain the raw resources to produce it.

yes for those of you that don't know, the famous Mandelbrot fractal set is now available for your viewing pleasure in 3D!

Benoit Mandelbrot - the man who discovered the mathematical equasion these fractals are based on was a Jewish genius who fled the Nazis - how many times will the technological history of our age include that phrase?
He didn't discover the basic maths of fractals, but he took an obscure, unfashionable concept, that you can explore the space between two dimensions and three dimensions, and showed its fundamental role in the fabric of the world.

Chris Dorosz, a Canadian artist, uses a grid of acrylic rods and paint to create some very interesting sculptures. To achieve this, Dorosz covers the rods in tiny paint drops and puts them together to form three dimensional creations.
