While Jean-Luc Godard’s life and work has received a plethora of critical attention, a relatively uncharted episode occurred in 1977–1978, when, at the behest of the Samora Machel government, the filmmaker worked in Mozambique to assist in the establishment of the country’s first television station. Having newly acquired its independence from Portugal, the avowedly Marxist government of Machel embarked on a cultural policy emphasizing the country’s autonomy and intending to avoid simply replicating the media landscape of First World countries. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/section-blog/16527-birth-of-the-image-of-a-nation-jean-luc-godard-in-mozambiqueWhile Jean-Luc Godard’s life and work has received a plethora of critical... more

It may have only been a pilot episode, but AMC’s new series The Walking Dead has already got me hooked, and with good reason too. Zombies. Who doesn’t like zombies? And who doesn’t like a TV series dedicated to them with production values as high as this one? Really. This new show is looking to become one you can’t afford to miss.
The show focuses around a man who wakes up after a coma only to find the city and probably the world infested with zombies called ‘walkers’. In traditional zombie fashion, they tear people apart, bite into them, and are dangerous. But the show keeps with common clichés — one shot to the head and they’re down for the count. Sound familiar?

“The Walking Dead” is new television series that begins on AMC Sunday night, and it promises to be one of the most vivid examples of the revival of gruesome zombie movies. The series is based on Robert Kirkman’s popular graphic novels, and the television adaptation is surprisingly frightening and remarkably good. It visually echoes the stylized comic-book aesthetic of the original and combines elegant suspense with gratifyingly crude and slasher-film gore. “The Walking Dead” is teeming with carnage and oozing close-ups of cannibalism, so it’s obviously not for everyone. But it’s very well made, a hard-core zombie story that even vampire lovers can watch.
This piece includes a number of photographs, “The Walking Dead” 2010 extended season trailer and AMC's animated short comic of “The Walking Dead.”

Dominic Monaghan came to spotlight after appearing on the most famous Television series Lost as Charlie Pace.
Recently Dominic Monaghan played the role of Megan Fox’s lover in the promo of Eminem’s music video “Love the Way You Lie”. The video is about the domestic violence. In spite of the fact that most men would enjoy the chance to lock lips with one of the most beautiful and sexy actress Megan Fox, Dominic Monaghan was not that eager to do so.Dominic Monaghan came to spotlight after appearing on the most famous Television... more

...It took 5 full minutes of watching NBC’s sitcom, 100 Questions, before my friend and I realized it was an actual sitcom and not a commercial shtick making fun of terrible sitcoms. Once that realization set in, I didn’t know whether to feel insulted as a thinking primate that NBC would slap together such crap and serve it up in its Thursday night line-up to the same audience that has grown accustomed to the comedic talents of Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Joel McHale and Amy Poehler, or whether I should feel concerned for the state of American audiences if viewers actually enjoy this program (which cannot be the case … it just can’t).
While it’s difficult to criticize the actors of 100 Questions because the script is so bad, one thing is for sure–the laugh track editing is ludicrous. Although this chimp gives 100 Questions a poo sling, I encourage you to watch the show, if only once for a few minutes, to witness the world’s worst use of the laugh track, which is louder than the actual actors and is edited-in precisely at the moment an actor delivers his/her lines, thus creating the illusion of a room full of insane audience members who laugh unnaturally early and inappropriately loud. It’s so weird, it’s surreal...

'Caprica,' a prequel to 'Battlestar Galactica,' is a family drama that deals with the ethical issues of artificial intelligence
Science fiction's foundations are built on the premise of noble scientists creating fabulous technologies for the betterment of mankind.
"Caprica," the new science-fiction drama from the creators of "Battlestar Galactica," differs from that idea.
"It's about how groundbreaking technology often has an engine -- personal motive -- that's built on not so high-minded principles, like greed and envy," said "Caprica" executive producer David Eick, from Los Angeles.
The series kicks off at 9 p.m. Friday on SyFy.
Eick described "Caprica" as a science-fiction drama and family saga that explores the morality of artificial intelligence. The show is from the same creative team that was behind "Battlestar Galactica," which critics hailed as one of the best science-fiction series television has ever offered. "Battlestar" ended its run on SyFy last year.
The new series takes place 58 years before the robotic Cylon race's attack on the Twelve Colonies in an attempt to exterminate its humans creators. The saga of a ragtag fleet of human survivors fleeing the Cylons and searching for a haven was at the center of "Battlestar

In news that seems like a rewind from April, HBO is developing a half-hour comedy about an older woman who's a former feminist icon. This one comes from Buffy The Vampire Slayer scribe Marti Noxon and will star Diane Keaton.
Back in April, word was that the network was working on a show called Women's Studies, about a "former feminist It girl" (consider the question: does feminism have It girls?) who's now a women's studies professor. This new one is about a "feminist icon" who decides to "reignite the movement by starting a sexually explicit magazine for women." The other show was to come from Daily Show/Colbert Report producer Ben Karlin and star Julie White.
It's hard to imagine HBO going forward with both of these shows given their similarities, but interesting to see them working on two projects about aging feminists in a period of a little over three months. (One would hope the Noxon/Keaton show will be a little fresher than some of the comments from Noxon about the role of leg hair in feminist theory and how women have become "more sexual" since the Kinsey report in 1953; it's much too early for genuine concern.)
HBO may have believed it was winding up behind the curve of female-led comedy, given that it doesn't really have anything right now that would compete with, say, Weeds on Showtime. But either way, chalk up another film actress finding her way to a regular job heading up a TV show.In news that seems like a rewind from April, HBO is developing a half-hour comedy... more
