Birds Eye View Film Festival runs from the 5-13th March at various venues around the country and is showcasing some amazing films by women filmmakers from across the globe. It really is a stellar line up with a retrospective on cinema's earliest sex symbols including Greta Garbo and Louise Brooks and feature film highlights from Sundance, Cannes and the Oscars. There's also a bunch of interesting masterclasses and sessions for budding filmmakers.
True to form I'll be checking out the documentaries, in particular Nanette Burnstein's American Teen which won Best Feature Doc at Sundance and Franny Armstrong's The Age of Stupid which features a futuristic Pete Postlethwaite commenting on the stupidity of our current generation's reaction to climate change.
