Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards’ now classic book Manifesta has been reissued ten years after its initial publication. As I mention in the video, so much has changed in the last ten years. V Day has taken the world by storm. We almost had a woman president and do have a black president. Blogs and social networking have altered feminism, and social change in general, forever.
But there is still so much to do. Sexual assault is still too common, economic equality is elusive, and gay and transgender rights are slow in coming, among so many other key issues. To get involved in the work-to-come, check out Feministing.com for analysis and action, The Third Wave Foundation (co-founded by Amy Richards!), and, of course, the ongoing advocacy work here at the Women’s Media Center.
