As we head into 2010, most news organisations are battling declining revenues. However, a few online journalists are holding out against the downturn.
According to recent figures, Politico and the Huffington Post are both likely to end 2009 in the black. Experts estimate that The Huffington Post will make revenues of $12m to $16m, and the Washington-based Politico might have exceeded $20m for the full calendar year 2009.

Acorn a low and moderate income community organization earlier this year was found giving advice to a fake pimp and prostitute (Conservatives in disguise, fitting isn't?) which in turn caused crazy rumors to start spreading. This report adds to the mounting evidence that Acorn was framed in order to get political publicity for the ever weakening GOP. From DemocracyNow to Polticio to the New York Times all responded to this new report released on Tuesday. Just trying to help spread the word.

POLITICO has learned that Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, will announce today that he’s switching parties to become a Republican.
According to two senior GOP aides familiar with the decision, the announcement will take place this afternoon in Griffith’s district in northern Alabama.
Griffith’s party switch comes on the eve of a pivotal congressional health care vote and will send a jolt through a Democratic House Caucus that has already been unnerved by the recent retirements of a handful of members who, like Griffith, hail from districts that offer prime pickup opportunities for the GOP in 2010.
The switch represents a coup for the House Republican leadership, which had been courting Griffith since he publicly criticized the Democratic leadership in the wake of raucous town halls during the summer.
Griffith, who captured the seat in a close 2008 open seat contest, will become the first Republican to hold the historically Democratic, Huntsville-based district. A radiation oncologist who founded a cancer treatment center, Griffith plans to blast the Democratic health care bill as a prime reason for his decision to switch parties—and is expected to cite his medical background as his authority on the subject.

Once upon a time most respectable dailies would probably have fired a reporter on the spot for this kind of mistake, which is, in journalism terms, tantamount to a soldier letting an enemy take over his post for a couple of minutes while he wanders off into the bushes to relieve himself.Once upon a time most respectable dailies would probably have fired a reporter on the... more

FOX News shows own the top eleven ratings spots for cable news. Why are they so dominant? Could it be because there are more choices for lberals and democrats? They can watch MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, Headline News, etc. Fox News is the only Neo-Con Right Wing channel so they all flock to that one.FOX News shows own the top eleven ratings spots for cable news. Three years ago this week, Stephen Colbert turned Washington on its ear with his in-your-face performance at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
It may not have had a lasting impact on the nation’s capital, or even on the WHCA Dinner: After a comedic colonic with super-safe Rich Little and barely decipherable Craig Ferguson, the dinner threatens to make news again this year with Wanda Sykes, a black woman who plays blue and isn’t afraid to state her strongly held political views.
But Colbert has gone on to make his mark on Washington in another way — as the world’s only comedian to make the House of Representatives a major part of his shtick.
On Oct. 18, 2005 — the second episode of “The Colbert Report” — the host flashed a salty eye at the camera and proclaimed: “Congressional districts: You are in one right now, but what do you really know about it? Well, there are 435 of them, each exquisitely gerrymandered by a wise incumbent.”
With that, Colbert launched “Better Know a District,” a would-be 435-part series of interviews with members that has exposed the public to the sometimes-anonymous lower-chamber members.
“He’s discovered a wealth of material that most comics give up because the material isn’t as well-known as the president or some other such official,” said Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.).Three years ago this week, Stephen Colbert turned Washington on its ear with his... more

President Barack Obama can’t stand to be without his “Entourage.”
Call it a guilty pleasure, or maybe it just rings familiar to him. The HBO series about an aspiring actor features a fast-talking agent named Ari, based on the real-life brother of Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel.
For less R-rated fare, he tunes into “Hannah Montana” or “SpongeBob SquarePants” in the White House with his daughters. Aides said he would have watched Monday night’s NCAA championship on TiVo on his way home from Iraq Tuesday night.
Jon Stewart’s smackdown of CNBC’s Jim Cramer? Obama was eager to see it. But when it comes to the real news, and not the fake kind, Obama takes a pass — rarely ever tuning into 24-hour cable chatter or replays of his own performances.
“We usually tell him how we think he did,” said longtime friend Valerie Jarrett.
In some ways, it’s a TV diet that doesn’t seem so different than many American men’s, featuring a heavy dose of sports, including that staple of the channel-surfing set, ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”
But some of Obama’s choices definitely have an edgier bent — such as...
