Final Fantasy XIII is the 13th installment in the long line of Final Fantasy games. It continues a lot of the original themes, such as summoned monsters, Chocobos, and what would Final Fantasy be without Airships. But it also includes some new mechanics such as, a new abilities system called Crystarium that manages characters development of abilities, as well as a new system called Paradigm which gives players control over which abilities characters will then use. Final Fantasy XIII was developed by Square Enix and released on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 9, 2010. Hey again, everybody. Sorry for the absence of the new release lists for the last couple of weeks. To make up for it, we’ve highlighted some of the bigger games for the last two weeks in the New/Recent Releases Amazon sidebar on the site (just in case you wanted to pick some of them up, y’know? Hint, hint?).
As for this week’s titles, there’s really one title that stands head and shoulders above the rest – I honestly shouldn’t have to even tell you which one it is. But here’s a hint: it starts with and “F”, ends with an “inal Fantasy” and has had 12 other entries before it (well, more than that if you count spinoffs).
Beyond the long-awaited RPG, there are a few other releases that may be on your radar: Calling or Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for two different flavors of tension, Mega Man 10 on PSN for retro-style action, Assassin’s Creed II on PC for the perpetually late-to-the-party, or Yakuza 3 on PS3 for your niche import goodness.
Regardless of which way your tastes run, hit the jump for a full list.

Following the successful launch of the first series of Final Fantasy XIII Play Arts -Kai- figures back in February, it has today been revealed that the second series will hit European retail this coming May. Final Fantasy XIII is set to launch this coming Tuesday, March 9th 2010, on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases of this console generation.
Square Enix's Play Arts -Kai- figures are an improved version of their popular Play Arts action figure series. Featuring a larger scale, greater attention to detail, more articulation points and additional parts, the Play Arts -Kai- series are their finest action figures yet. Based on the forthcoming Final Fantasy XIII, the highly-anticipated Role-Playing Game (RPG) coming to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 next week, series two features figures of Fang, Hope, and Sazh, based on detailed sculpts taken directly from Square Enix's CGI designs.
