I'm sorry to the heart of America, it's a cold thing. China is full of stories like this, look 'em up. This one should be discussed, and people who aren't aware should be. I'm sure it was perfectly legal for Apple to send these jobs to China, and they should have them - but not now. Maybe if their workers didn't think death was preferable to a 12hr/seven day work week.
The articles are all over, but not on television. Why? It's just embarrassing! Oh, I have an I-phone, and I think they're great. I have an HD, and I got so cheap! Look at my new car, it has three screens to watch DVD movies on! Yippie!
Those people are suffering, things haven't changed, and they absolutely won't, will they? This is like our addiction to cocaine, others suffer. If we don't see it, it's okay :).
The picture I made into a composite is from a painting of a Chinese news report. It shows one of 14 suicide deaths - at the same time. They felt it was better than never seeing FREEDOM. This is how important freedom is, and if nothing changes, their deaths are VERY meaningless.
What don't we see? Well, the list very long. Here's a bit...

Before the Deepwater Horizon disaster Transocean carried out a survey of the rig workers to gather feedback. However, it is revealed by the New York Times, many of the workers were worried about the safety and risky work practises.
"Some workers thought that poor equipment reliability was "a result of drilling priorities taking precedence over planned maintenance"."-Guardian
It is reported the study also found some of the components were in 'poor or bad condition' with the blow out preventer and fail safe valves left not being fully inspected since 2000 "even though guidelines call for an inspection every three to five years."-Guardian.Before the Deepwater Horizon disaster Transocean carried out a survey of the rig... more

SAN FRANCISCO -- Vilma Serralta, a 71-year-old U.S. citizen born in El Salvador, recently settled a lawsuit against her employers for labor abuses, strengthening a growing movement of domestic workers.
During her four years of employment, Serralta alleges that her employers, Sakhawat and Roomy Khan of Atherton, paid her between $3 and $4 an hour to work 14-hour days, six days a week, without breaks, overtime pay or vacation time. Serralta also routinely endured verbal abuse and other indignities that made for a hostile work environment.
“My job was very hard,” Serralta said. “It was a really big house, I would do all the housework and they would really exploit me… one time they called me stupid, and they would yell at me.”
When Serralta was fired by the Khans in 2006...

The number of U.S. Hispanic workers who die on the job has risen by 76 percent since 1992, even as the nation's total number of on-the-job deaths is on the decline, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor
Statistics.
The number of Hispanic worker deaths increased from 533 in 1992 to a record 990 deaths in 2006, according to a report by USA Today. The problem has been especially pronounced in Texas, according to the report. Only part of the spike can be explained by the rising number of Hispanics in the American workforce, which increased from 10.4 percent in 1998 to 14 percent in 2007, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
