"Why do they laugh at my mighty sword?"
In the sixteenth episode of Cinefantastique's weekly Horror, Fantasy & Science Fiction Podcast, Dan Persons, Lawrence French, and Steve Biodrowski sift through the Sands of Time as they search PRINCE OF PERSIA for hidden political metaphors and/or weapons of mass destruction. The big screen film version of the popular video game stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina, and Gemma Arterton - but, strangely enough, no Persians. Also in this episode: a fond farewell to Dennis Hopper; a preview of the WOLF MAN unrated director's cut DVD; and the usual news and previews.

Ah, parody truly is amazing, especially as sequels for Bad Boys and Rambo are being announced in development. And since they are the exact same movie.

BIG FAT REPEAT: Vardalos & Co. Prep For My Big Fat Greek Wedding Remake
In what appears to be an industry first, the entire cast and crew behind the 2002 indie breakout phenomenon My Big Fat Greek Wedding, from writer/star Nia Vardalos to director Joel Zwick to co-star John Corbett to cinematographer Jeffrey Jur to assistant head carpenter Tim Ovans to boom operator Thomas Hayek to production assistant David Zikovitz, has signed on to remake the exact same film.
Wedding is one of the decade’s most lucrative success stories. Budgeted at five million dollars, the movie went on to rake in almost 350 million at the worldwide box office. However, since that time, Vardalos hasn’t been able to recapture the same magic that made her such an unexpected household face. Though her directorial debut I Hate Valentine’s Day has reportedly done well through the IFC’s OnDemand service, it barely made a dent at the box office, earning only $10,000 in its first two weeks of release. When asked to provide statistical evidence of the film’s small screen success, IFC Films VP of Marketing & PR Ryan Werner replied, “We don’t do that. But trust me, it did, like, amazing.”Ah, parody truly is amazing, especially as sequels for Bad Boys and Rambo are being... more

At the Comic-Con, ComingSoon.net interviewed Head of Production at Disney Oren Aviv about future Disney projecs. One these projects that's still at the top of everyone list is the fourth installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean." Jerry Bruckheimer the producer of the the last 3 films. Stated that a script is still in the works to ComingSoon.net weeks ago. However Aviv and Disney are definitely a ready to begin rolling film on the movie as early as next year.
"We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year," Aviv stated to ComingSoon.net. "We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan." He said that this time they would only be doing one movie this time that would "hopefully be the first of another trilogy."
"It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger," Aviv also admitted. "The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." He agreed that there is a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow's back story that we haven't seen yet without confirming or denying that we might see some of that in the fourth movie. At the Comic-Con, ComingSoon.net interviewed Head of Production at Disney Oren Aviv... more
