So who's your daddy?! I think the baby looks like David…but then I might be wrong, most babies look the same to me. According to OK! magazine, who today published the first ever photos of Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, both Elton and David donated sperm and left the rest up to chance. Elton, 63, has revealed he was present at the birth and watched the baby "shoot out" on Christmas Day. Speaking at his Los Angeles home, he told OK!: "He shot out like a rocket. There just aren't proper words to describe that feeling. It's indescribable. It was just, 'We have a son'!"Zachary was mothered by a surrogate, but Elton and 48-year-old David are the youngster's legal parents. It is believed a financial settlement was reached with the mother, and that she will have no part in raising little Zachary.Elton and David got hitched in 2005 after 12 years together and set their hearts on becoming fathers after a trip to a Ukraine orphanage. They have made it clear that they would not give up on 26-month-old Ukrainian orphan Lev and his HIV-positive brother Artyom, four, whom they attempted to adopt. The country does not recognise same-sex marriages and its laws deem Elton too old to legally care for the child. But he has vowed to at least help the youngsters financially - and has not given up on finding them a loving home.

The news that Elton John and his husband David Furnish had become the proud new parents to a baby boy was treated quite straightforwardly by almost every news outlet in the UK. By that I mean that the coverage was not knee-deep in homophobia, a nice touch for once. However, the same open-mindedness were not present in many of the comments posted by the readers. To jog your memory of the story: The 63-year-old singer and his partner, David Furnish, who is 48, have become parents after using a surrogate mother in the US. Their son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, was born in California on Christmas Day, weighing 7lb 15oz.Most of the UK's newspapers ran fairly empathetic headlines, none showing obvious signs of homophobia nor ageism. Sir Elton is dad at 63 as surrogacy heralds change in his circle of life (The Times); Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, hello nappies and sleepless nights (Daily Telegraph); You can tell everybody, this is our son: Elton John becomes a father at 63 (The Guardian); The Independent only did the story as a picture caption.Sir Elton John becomes a dad to baby boy born on Christmas Day (Daily Mirror); Sir Elton & Furnish welcome baby boy (Daily Express); Elton John has baby (Daily Star). The Sun asked Who's the daddy? But it wasn't really meant in a malicious way more in a funny-sort-of-The Sun-way, and there was a wholly supportive sidebar by the paper's agony aunt, Deidre Sanders. The Daily Mail, was as always, less gay-friendly in its approach; Two fathers, two mothers - the unorthodox parentage of 63-year-old Elton John's baby is revealed. And it has run several comment pieces that question the couple's decision to become parents. Bel Mooney said in Accessory children and the question: Who is my mummy? that she had nothing against gay couples raising children, but objected to "the modern phenomenon of babies as a celebrity accessory."And today the Daily Mail's Andrew Pierce (who the paper is quick to flag up as both adopted and gay, like that is an excuse for ignorance) said: Why I'm repelled by Elton and his partner's grotesque selfishness. But never mind what the hacks think - what do you think? It seems many readers of the liberal press were less than liberal about the John-Furnish baby than their newspaper of choice. But it was the first comment under the Indy's online version that caught my eye and prompted me to study threads on the other papers' sites. The Independent's first comment said: "An abomination of nature. Totally, and overwhelmingly, disgusting. The descent into the abyss has now passed the tipping point" - EpiphronThe Daily Mail have lots of references to "that poor baby" and claims that it was a "disgraceful" and "decadent" act by the singer and his partner. "Nice new toy, Elton", wrote Steve, Kingsbury.Among The Sun's 130 commenters, there were many who were supportive of the couple, with several offering their congratulations. Some worried over John's age rather than his sexual proclivity. But the majority, by a slim margin, were opposed to the move, such as Kindu5: "whoever allowed this to happen should hang their head in shame!" Many agreed with him: "I am sure that all right-minded readers will be as appalled at this news as I am myself! It is madness - sheer madness - to allow this 'odd' couple to be given custody of a child" - Calhoon "I shudder at the idea of two old men raising a baby" - 2010Catweasel "SOOOOOO WRONG" - PayMeAtHalftime "Absolutely disgusting - there should be a law against anybody over 45 having a new born" - herreuSo what do you Current.com users think? Are you happy for Elton and David and their son or not?

Who does not love Betty White? She attended last night’s Time’s 100 Most Influential People Gala in New York where she happens to be in town for her Saturday Night Live hosting duties which we will get to see on Saturday!
Will you be watching? Something tells me their ratings are going to go through the roof. I hope she is her naughty self on the show SNL’s Adam Samberg, who was also at the event told ET that working with Betty this week was:http://www.ineedmyfix.com/2010/05/05/betty-white-times-100-most-influential-people-gala... more
