Venus is often referred to as Earth's twin, as the two planets share a similar size. But perhaps the similarities don't end there. A new infrared map from Venus Express hints that our neighboring world may once have been more Earth-like, with a plate tectonics system and an ocean of water. While previous radar images have given us a glimpse of Venus' cloud-shrouded surface, this is the first map that hints at the chemical composition of the rocks. The new data are consistent with suspicions that the highland plateaus of Venus are ancient continents, once surrounded by ocean and produced by past volcanic activity.Venus is often referred to as Earth's twin, as the two planets share a similar... more

In an interview to GQ magazine, film-maker Quentine Tarantino says that he'll quit the movie industry when he turns 60 and already working on the prequel to the forthcoming film 'Inglourious B******s'.
Tarantino says "Directors don't get better, they get worse. When you gotta go out and make a movie to pay for the kids' private school and for the three ex-wives, don't talk to me about your artistry... It's their job. I don't want to have to watch the movie I made to pay for my pool."In an interview to GQ magazine, film-maker Quentine Tarantino says that he'll... more

The Green Hornet maybe finally be on the way to being produced but it has a small problem it needs a Kato.
Stephen Chow was to star and play Kato which would have being a perfect choice, but the is proving to be the biggest complication for Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet. Chow decided to give up the director’s chair due to “creative differences”, but luckily Michel Gondry has stepped in. Now according to JoBlo.com there maybe an open casting call looking for actors to play Kato.
The press release calls for “ALL ASIAN ETHNICITIES, Male, 20's - early 40's. The Green Hornets alter ego Brit Reid's manservant/chauffeur by day and Green Hornet's martial arts-skilled sidekick by night. Actor doesn't have to have Martial Arts experience.”
The filmmakers are getting desperate, with such a huge talent base of rarely notice Asian actors looking to get work in a big movie like this, you’d think that Michel Gondry and Rogen would have no problem finding a replacement. Instead, they’re asking the public for new talent. The Green Hornet maybe finally be on the way to being produced but it has a small... more

A deleted scene from the movie Watchmen has popped up online. It shows us the death of Hollis Mason, the original Night Owl.
Usually deleted scenes are dropped for a good reason, either they’re dull, they slow the pace of a film or aren’t really relevant so I thought this was just going to be a bit pointless but it looks really good. It’s come about to promote the directors cut of the movie, if it’s going to be full of extra bits like this it really could be a much better version of the movie.A deleted scene from the movie Watchmen has popped up online. To gain a "15" rating in the UK, Universal is taking out a minute and fifty seconds from Sacha Baron Cohen's latest.
Oddly, the three scenes in question are blurred in the R-rated U.S. version and no mention is made of removing a 10-second montage featuring a certain male organ and it's own "dialog."
I know we have more than a few UK users, so what say you? Sad you're missing out on 1:50 worth of gag material? Don't care?
But clearly, the cuts are coming as Universal wants more money from a younger audience instead of losing out on it.To gain a "15" rating in the UK, Universal is taking out a minute and fifty... more

Sony is preparing to introduce a new game development pipeline in hopes of producing a stream of low-priced downloadable games and applications for PSP, says a new report.
Develop said Tuesday that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe had exclusively revealed to the website at an E3 meeting last month that the PlayStation maker would be making a wide variety of changes to the way it does business with game creators. Sony’s process of “concept approval”, in which the hardware maker reserves the right to reject or modify software based on its gameplay content, will be “abandoned” for this new line of downloadable PSP games, read the report.
The quality-assurance procedures for these smaller applications, said Develop, will be shorter. These smaller apps would be placed in a separate area on the online PlayStation Store, it said. Combined with Sony’s announcement at E3 that it would lower the price of PSP development kits, all of these measures seem poised to foster an environment that, while not quite as wide-open as the iPhone App Store, could bring much more digital content to the platform.
With Sony introducing a digital-only version of the PSP, something needs to be done to open up the floodgates and encourage developers to create as wide a variety of games and other applications as possible, in terms of both content and price. If PSP Go could only download the relatively small selection of titles currently available, it would be a rather unappealing platform.
Wired.com has asked SCEA for clarification on this story.Sony is preparing to introduce a new game development pipeline in hopes of producing a... more
