Walmart is ranked No. 1 on the National Retail Federation’s annual "Shoppers’ Favorite Holiday Ads" survey, displacing rival Target for the first time in three years. Target has held the top spot each year since 2006, when the survey was first created. (It is conducted by BIGresearch on behalf of the Retail Advertising Marketing Association, a division of the NRF.) The survey asked more than 9,900 consumers to name their favorite holiday TV ad.
(Wong, E., 2009, December 15, para. 1-2)
Rounding out the top 10 this year were Best Buy, Gap and Macy’s, among others. ( See the complete list here.) Hallmark made the list for the first time this year, while Toys ‘R Us completely disappeared. (The brand ranked No. 10 last year.) Gap, which was No. 4, also appeared on the list for the first time since 2006. Old Navy has been aggressive with its "Supermodelquins" holiday campaign, so it's no surprise that it climbed up to No. 6 (from No. 9 last year).

Stick thin Cintra Wilson, blogger/ "Critical Shopper" for the NY Times, was recently insulted that JC Penney opened a flagship store in the glamorous and skinny streets of New York.
On Wednesday August 12 Wilson wrote in the Times that
"It took me a long time to find a size 2 among the racks. There are, however, abundant size 10’s, 12’s and 16’s."
she continued the rant by even bashing on the mannequins.
"[I]t has the most obese mannequins I have ever seen. They probably need special insulin-based epoxy injections just to make their limbs stay on. It’s like a headless wax museum devoted entirely to the cast of “Roseanne.”
Most readers, the thin and the thick, were insulted and executive editor Bill Keller, whos mother is a frequent shopper of the store, wished the article was never published. However there was no immediate problem since the writing was considered to be her own style.Stick thin Cintra Wilson, blogger/ "Critical Shopper" for the NY Times, was... more
