ALL NEW!!! Very exciting time for my friend Eric Deggans, media critic of the Tampa Bay Times! His first book, Race Baiter, a very serious examination of the intersection of media and race relations, was just published. We had a really good discussion of it in today's video interview. I hope you'll watch it, share it and, of course, order his book! Thanks! http://www.mrmedia.com/2012/10/race-baiter-eric-deggans-made-you-look-bill-oreilly-2012-video-interview/#.UIALElTfK7OALL NEW!!! CNN contributor and blogger Dana Loesch said Monday at the Tea Party Tax Day rally in Chicago that women “get raped” for supporting liberals and progressives like the “Occupy Wall Street” movement.
“What did women receive for supporting the left?” she asked the crowd. “You’ve seen it here with your Occupy movement, haven’t you? They get raped.”
“This man on my shirt had a message that I think needs to be reiterated since it keeps happening,” Loesch said, wearing a shirt picturing the late Andrew Breitbart. “Stop raping people! Behave yourselves!”
At the Conservative Political Action Conference in February, Breitbart angrily confronted a group of “Occupy” protesters. He called them “freaks and animals,” and told them to “stop raping people.”
His tirade made reference to reports of crime and sexual assaults at some “Occupy” camps.
The various demonstrations across the country took place in public parks, and most of them offered free food and shelter. This attracted a number of people who were not strictly a part of the movement, including criminals and other troublemakers. In many cases, protesters were victims of sexual assault, not the assailants.
When asked about the “Occupy Wall Street” protests after her speech by independent YouTube reporter John Sheehan, Loesch said she was “fascinated” by the movement, but did not understand its purpose. After being questioned about crime at the “Occupy” protests, she said that all she knew was that the movement was about “vandalism and rape.”
“What are you about if not those things?” she said. “What are you here for? What are you involved in the Occupy movement for?”

Beyond the Grave, Breitbart's still a Hack...
Let’s hop in our time machine and head back to 1990, where a young Barack Obama was serving as the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He spoke before a group of protesters demonstrating against the school’s lack of racial and gender equality. He also spoke in support of a man named Derrick Bell...

Civility. It's a concept that conservatives seem to have trouble wrapping their heads around.
An examination of this hypothesis in action:
Liberal icon dies. Conservatives immediately take to Twitter and Facebook to slander the liberal icon's memory. While the corpse is cooling in the morgue, hilarious conservative pundits write how this particular liberal, a hero to the progressive community, had enough fat and alcohol in his body to keep an eternal flame lit for centuries. Leading the peanut gallery in much of this visceral, most-uncivil hatred is a conservative columnist -- a hack who uses the internet as if it were his personal roll of toilet paper that he smears, on a daily basis, with lies, half-truths and the most rancid kind of filth that betrays an utter disregard for decency and veracity as long as his conservative ideology is served as an end result. As the liberal icon is being mourned by liberals, independents and, yes, conservatives, this hack refers to him online as a "duplicitous bastard," a "villain," a "prick" and "a special pile of human excrement."

On March 1st I ended up in the odd position of offering confirmation of something that I’d only learned of mere moments before. Andrew Breitbart, star quarterback of the conservative movement, had passed away.
I had a hard time accepting it to be true so I had a quick text exchange with someone close enough to Andrew that I knew his answer would be the God’s honest truth, Chris Loesch. I said “Please tell me this isn’t true about Andrew.” Within seconds Chris replied, “It is true.”
I took the confirmation to twitter and within moments was being retweeted and referenced in publications as confirming the tragic news.
It was a very odd feeling. I’d met Andrew many times, we’d exchanged a few texts and emails in the past and I had the privilege of interviewing him for my podcast. We were acquaintances, but by no means could I be called a close friend or confidant of Andrew Breitbart.
Yet here I was, confirming to people who adored him and had loved and been friends with him for years, that the worst possible news was true. Their friend was gone. It was a surreal and unwelcome feeling. Almost like I had intruded on someone’s private moment.
Before I had a chance to think more about it I received a call that someone really wanted a tribute to be put together in honor of this great man and they wanted me to do it. I happily agreed and within moments knew what it would be called: Warrior.
To me, that’s what Andrew was. A warrior. A soldier. A leader. A man that was bigger than life who changed the world just by waking up in the morning.
So while others were grieving and mourning, I found myself poring over his life. Looking at every video, every sound byte, every photo. I kept reminding myself how odd it was that there would be no more. That whatever is out there in the world, is all there will ever be.
Watching the videos, I realized quickly that he fought so much harder than I did. I’ve found myself many times in the position of shouting down protestors or defying orders. But nothing like Andrew. Watching him was like watching a visual representation of passion itself. As though passion had clothed itself in the body of a man and was speaking directly to me through these archives of speeches and confrontations.
I knew that I was right to think of him as a warrior, but I didn’t realize how much more he was. He was a visionary, with a stated purpose and mission that was as brilliant as it was simplistic and focused: Destroy the mainstream media. And every day that Andrew hit the pavement, it was with that mission in mind. And he was damn effective at it as anyone reading this knows.
I knew that if I made a video about him, a tribute, that it had to be less about the personal side of Andrew, because I didn’t know that side of him. It had to be about his mission. A mission that I share. A mission that you should share too. We must defeat the narrative, the template designers, the propagandists pretending to be journalists and truth tellers. We must get the culture back and we must do it by exposing the farce of the Main Stream Media. From everything I know of the man, that’s how he would want to be remembered and that is what I hoped to relay.

I believed, and hope it is evident in this video, that he would’ve wanted his life and his death to be a rallying cry. A call to arms. As he said “We have an obligation…to fight back.”
We will. And you did Andrew. We thank you. Let us fight now. You rest at last, Warrior.

Andrew Breitbart
1969 - 2012
---
Mr. Andrew Breibart is gone but he won’t be forgotten. He
will be long remembered for his bigotry and lies; and for
his hatred towards those he deemed unfit.
I feel sorrow for his mother’s loss but also I feel anger at
how she apparently raised him. If I had
a son who displayed such disrespect for others by using
character assassination as a weapon to obliterate people
like Shirley Sherrod, and organizations’ like ACORN, while
feeling a sense of victory, upon their ruin, I would feel
DEEP SHAME.
In essence, people like Sherrod and the hard workers at
ACORN were only the tip of the iceberg of the nasty deeds
perpetrated by Breitbart upon his fellow human beings.
His legacy will exhibit a long list of vile attempts to
annihilate reputations of those who did not happen to fit
into his cold-hearted dogmatism.
I know there are some that shared his warped sense of
‘who is’ and ‘who is not’ valuable in our society and they
will miss him,
but I am not one of them.
Right now the Internet is ablaze with his death.
The right-wing is calling him an angel and a warrior and is
strongly criticizing the left for acting gleeful over his death
but I just came across something that Breitbart had written
after the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy:
{{After Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts died in
2009, Breitbart tweeted, "Rest in Chappaquiddick" and
called him "a special pile of human excrement."
When critics questioned his tone, he tweeted they "missed
my best ones!"}}
Now that's nasty but it also is typical Breitbart.

Some thoughts from David Frum at the Daily Beast. “Breitbart reinvented the culture war and made it more about personalities than issues. Along the way, he got some stories right (Anthony Weiner) and some wrong (Shirley Sherrod), but he didn't care either way. Just as all is fair in a shooting war, so manipulation and deception are legitimate tools in a culture war. Breitbart used those tools without qualm or regret, and he inspired a cohort of young conservative journalists to do likewise."
All of which leads Frum to conclude that Breitbart's legacy is a "poisonous" one. He achieved success through a "giddy disdain for truth and fairness" and his politics were "inflamed by rage and devoid of ideas." He was a public figure and should be judged by his public actions, even if "the obituary cannot be pleasant reading."

The Breitbart legacy will not be defined by his beliefs. It will be defined by the spitefulness of his tactics and by his willingness to inflict tangible, lasting damage on the lives of the innocent in his lust for influence and power. ACORN was an organization with a rich history of helping the people at the very bottom of our socio-economic food chain. These were people with no money, no resources, no influence, no power, and damned few friends. Andrew Breitbart and his henchmen kicked the chair out from under them, like so many affluent suburban punks wilding through downtown late on a Saturday night looking for a homeless drunk to beat up.The Breitbart legacy will not be defined by his beliefs. The Current community was abuzz this morning with the breaking news that controversial conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart died early Thursday at the age of 43. Reports indicate he died of natural causes.
The following statement was posted on Breitbart's website today:
"With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.
We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.
Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.
Current community member ThatCrazyLibertarian posted the news, setting off an expectedly wide range of comments. Many are not particularly sad to see Breitbart go, while others are exercising restraint and aiming to maintain perspective:

Andrew Breitbart a provocateur for right wing extremist ideals, was caught on video outside the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., during this past weekends CPAC 2012 (Conservative Political Action Conference) meeting.
Breitbart lost it on the crowd, and started screaming, “Behave yourself! Behave yourself! Behave yourself!,” over and over and over, and then, “you filthy freaks!,” and, repeatedly, “Stop raping people! Stop raping people!”
Breitbart is famous for misinforming his audience by use of editing and truncating truths and facts, then turning those facts and truths into slime and smear for his extremist audience. His targets are the President of the United States, Democrats and EVERYONE who is not a right wing fundamentalist.
This is not the first time Breitbart has been seen acting like an insane person and it surely won’t be the last. Watch the video.

Controversial right-wing blogger Andrew Breitbart lashed out at “Occupy” protesters Friday evening outside the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
According to Campus Progress, Breitbart began yelling “Behave yourself!” repeatedly to protesters, then called them “freaks and animals.” He was ushered out of the area by hotel security a few moments after, but increased in his tirade by also screaming “Stop raping people!” to protesters.
Earlier in the day, Breitbart spoke at CPAC and continued to describe President Barack Obama as having “communists” friends who plotted to obtain the presidency in the 1980′s.
