Today is Flag Day, fly old glory proudly, even though the Republicans have stained it so unmercifully. This is a video of Porky Pig reciting the Pledge of Allegiance the way it was written, the way I remember being taught in grade school...
In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization, (1951 they started using those two words), added the words, 'under God,' to the Pledge. The Pledge was now both a patriotic oath and a public prayer.

A very patriotic person on Facebook probably already alerted you that it is Flag Day today. But despite the flag's long and storied history, there might be a few things you still don't know about the ol' red, white and blue.
1. Flag Day marks the day in 1777 when the Continental Congress first adopted the Stars and Stripes.
2. According to legend, George Washington commissioned Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross to create the first American flag back in 1776. Since then there have been 27 official versions of the flag.
3. The flag we know today dates back to July 4, 1960, when Hawaii was added to the flag as the 50th state.
