“Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” is a genius piece directed by Chris Milk, bringing some serious heart crooning to life in this video collaboration from Gnarles Barkely’s album “The Odd Couple.” A guy and a woman sit in a diner talking, and right away we realize it’s “that conversation.” It’s the woman leaving the guy, but he seems to be taking it well, handling it like a man.
The guy even manages to order an extra plate without betraying his aching heart. But then he cuts out his aching heart, places on the freshly arrived plate and calmly explains that this is it for him, she’s ruined any future chance of love. He has no use for his heart from now on, it’s hers. The heart agrees and sings the mournful words of Gnarls Barkley’s “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” while the staff and diners look on sympathetically.
This piece includes a number of color photographs, as well as the amazing short film/music video.
