Geoff Luck of University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, who led the study, was quoted by ‘The Daily Telegraph’ as saying, “Music is known to evoke strong emotions in people and emotions can be expressed through bodily movement.
“People use body motions as reliable indicators of others’ personality types, and even the movements of robots have been shown to elicit attributes of ‘personality’ by observers.”

Motion-capture technology allows an objective analysis of which dance moves are most attractive
They recruited 19 men between the ages of 18 and 35 to bob to a German dance track while reflectors attached to the men’s clothing recorded their moves. The psychologists then used the motions logged by the reflectors to craft avatars – the same method the makers of Lord of the Rings employed to create the character Gollum, if you’re wondering – and then asked several dozen heterosexual women to rate the avatars. By having women watch 15-second snippets of faceless white creatures rather than actual men, the reasoning goes, the psychologists weeded out possible prejudices that might creep in because of physical attractiveness. (Because women are never prejudiced by looks in real life.)
The results, which appear in the online edition of the Royal Society’s Biology Letters, aren’t what you’d guess. The pelvis gets surprisingly short shrift. Instead, the researchers say, the difference between a bad dancer and good dancer comes down to the neck, torso, and right knee. Women tend to be drawn to men who move their upper bodies, use a lot of space, and vary their movements.Motion-capture technology allows an objective analysis of which dance moves are most... more

Psychologists claimed they've determined the killer moves that make men irresistible to women on the dancefloor. The good news is they're fairly simple to replicate and don't involve any backflips. The bad news is they're ridiculously camp and pulling them off definitely involves dying inside.
Researchers at Northumbria University worked out the differences between 'good' and 'bad' male dancers based on the response they got from women. And they've done their homework. Rather than vaguely suggesting you throw in a couple of caterpillars, the researchers' surprisingly detailed advice notes that the speed of the right knee is crucial, as is the size and variability of movement of the neck, left shoulder and wrist.
Luckily, the team have created two videos - one of a good dancer strutting his stuff, one of a bad dancer (who pulls of much more bearable moves, to be honest) showing while he'll be going home alone.
Bad dancer:If you dance like this, science says you'll die alone.
Good dancer:If your pride can take it, bust these moves and your chances of impressing the ladies are greatly improved. Apparently...
Remind anyone else of this?
How the researchers decided on what makes a good or bad dancer
The Northumbria Uni team recruited 19 men between 18 and 35 and asked them to dance to a simple beat in from of a video camera for 30 seconds with 38 infra-red reflectors attached to their clothing. These allowed every limb's movement to be tracked and studied in detail.
Using software, the researchers generated avatars that performed each man's dance routine to ensure the dancers were rated on moves alone and not their height, looks or other physical features.
37 straight women, aged 18 to 35, then watched each dancer perform for 15 seconds and ranked them on a scale of 1 to 7, with 1 equalling very bad dancing.

The simple bump-n-grind gets a little too extreme and a tad bit out of control when the guy gets waaaayy overzealous with his patented dance moves. I'd give the pair a whopping "10" on my scorecard for the technicality and the perfect execution of flight. Namean? LOL!
