“Born to Die” is the new music video directed by the celebrated photographer/filmmaker Yoann Lemoine, from the chart-topping major label album debut by 25-year-old retro chanteuse Lana Del Rey. A number of malcontent bloggers have taken snarky aim at Del Rey, taking issue with the size of her fantastic pout, with the fact that she changed her name from the far less exotic Lizzy Grant, and for presenting an image they feel is just too cool to be real. Nevertheless, Del Rey comes across like a gangster Lauren Bacall, finds musical inspiration in the bright lights of Monte Carlo and can sing with enough grace and longing to break your heart after just one verse.

“Nothing Personal” is a six-minute short art film directed by the acclaimed photographer Matt Black, featuring Paz de la Huerta. We’ve been seeing a goodly generous amount of Paz de la Huerta’s sexy body and bountiful boobs these past few months on Boardwalk Empire, not to mention her awkward wardrobe malfunction outside the LA’s Chateau Marmont. Now, exceeding both of those, Paz is seen inside the Chateau Marmont getting it on with some lucky actor in this steamy cinematic adventure. The first three minutes is all about Paz grinding it up, then the next basically explain the point of the film.
And just what is the point you may ask? The difference between making love and sex, that love provides a personal fulfillment that sex can’t accomplish. Sex is a very superficial way of appreciating people. And maybe even more to the point, narcissism is a very harsh friend.

“Iris” is a short film created by fashion photographer Barnaby Roper. Many people don’t fall for these non-narrative fashion films, but Roper along with supermodel Iris Stubegger really hit it out of the ballpark with this short film. “A Gentleman’s Duel” is a hilarious, maniacal CGI animated short film created by Francisco Valasco and Sean McNally from the California visual effects studio Blur. At a wealthy Lady’s grand Manor, the elegantly dressed woman with bounteous décolletage is zealously courted by two crazed gentlemen. A genteel afternoon tea party at the Lady’s Manor quickly degenerates into a full-fledged duel between the two competing aristocrats, both of whom are outfitted with steam-driven gargantuan-sized, fully loaded armored mecha-suits. Destruction reigns supreme throughout the Manor and its gardens, as the two horny psycho-noblemen tear up the Lady’s property in their efforts to win her “boobies.” A gentleman’s lust for life is never to be questioned unless, of course, it involves fierce dueling in Goliath-sized mechanical jumpsuits in a bloodthirsty quest to win the Lady’s voluptuous boobies. Will there be a last man standing? But a much better question, what about the poor damsel?

“All the Lovers” is the Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue’s sexy new music video, an anthem for lovers directed by Joseph Kahn. “Crossbow” is a remarkable short film by the Australian director David Michôd, a meditative elegy that wrestles with the exquisite sadness of a seemingly senseless tragedy, and how it relates to sexuality and nostalgia.
The film opens to a house in a very average suburban neighborhood, focusing on the vacuous face of a teenage boy, the main character. The house is filled with the loud and exaggerated sounds of rough sex, and an unseen narrator, who turns out to be the boy’s neighbor, chronicles the boy’s predicament: he lives in a home of rough people, his mother and father think nothing of engaging in boisterous sex in his presence, nor of doing drugs and partying with other men.
“Crossbow” centers on a vacant, disaffected boy who suffers from abuse, before coming to a very violent end. The violence at the conclusion is made even more dramatic by the film’s slow unfurling, becoming all the more powerful by how clearly it is foreshadowed.
