SEGA producer Keith Dwyer explains PlatinumGames vision behind Vanquish and how the game is unlike other shooters out on the market currently in his interview with the Universal Gaming Database.
UGDB: Many are saying that Vanquish is like a Japanese Halo. Others talked about how the game is focused to fill the gap between the Eastern and Western markets, but still it has the specific Japanese art style. So, what is your truth?
Keith Dwyer: I’ve heard just about every comparison you can think of (personally I found “Gears of War meets Virtual On” entertaining). Vanquish’s spot and role within the East/West framework of the game industry depends upon who you ask, I suppose. Certainly everyone involved wants the game to be commercially successful worldwide and the game has the potential to fill the gap between East and West in terms of gamer satisfaction.SEGA producer Keith Dwyer explains PlatinumGames vision behind Vanquish and how the... more

It’s been a long time coming, having first been teased for a North American release back in 2008, but Sega is finally thawing Infinite Space from cryosleep and preparing it for launch on March 16th.
Developed by Platinum Games and Nude Maker (oh, Japan! You and your names…), Infinite Space looks like every sci-fi anime nerd’s wet dream come true. You get to design your own fleet of ships from over 100 different types, customize them with weapons and other modules, crew them with another 100+ characters, explore two different galaxies, and engage in ship-to-ship combat.
More through the link.

CFD!'s Rob Rich subjected himself to Bayonetta and made it out the other side alive. But what's his opinion now that the ride is over?
"Action games have come and gone, but over the years some very specific titles have become the best (i.e. most well known) embodiments of the genre. A trio of very well-loved characters have been the shining stars of a category that – let’s be honest – doesn’t really get all that many newcomers. When I mention this trio, I’m of course referring to The Big Three: Dante, Kratos and Ryu Hayabusa.
As I said, this power team hasn’t really had much competition (aside from each other) for a while now. Oh sure, a few games have tried to get close to them, but none have really managed to reach that same level of Awesome. Now it’s Bayonetta’s turn to make a grab for that ring. But just how well will the witch with the magic hair and foot guns fare in what has been (up until now) an elite boys club? Something tells me you’ll find out after the jump."

Bayonetta, the highly anticipated action game from Platinum Games, will release in western markets next January for the PlayStation 3. The game centers on its title character of the same name, and is set in a fictional European city. Bayonetta is directed by Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe series creator, as well as Okami mastermind, Hideki Kamiya in cooperation with publisher Sega. PlayStation LifeStyle managed to interview none other than Kamiya himself over the game, DLC, Bayonetta’s sexuality and much, much more.Bayonetta, the highly anticipated action game from Platinum Games, will release in... more

Kotaku is reporting that, upon speaking with some Sega of Europe representatives, that Bayonetta will be region locked. This isn’t a big surprise for the Xbox 360 version, since most games on that platform are region locked, but it’s something new for the normally region-free PlayStation 3.
