The numbers are in, and according to a story over at Siliconera, Atlus has a lot to smile about.
Many knew that Demon’s Souls was ridiculously awesome. Many also knew it was doing pretty well in the US. In fact, most of us probably guessed it had done better than pretty much anyone had expected. However, it may come as a bit of a surprise just how much better the arguably legendary “Hand-You-Your-Ass-On-A-Platter-While-You-Accept-It-With-A-Smile-And-Ask-For-Seconds” Action/RPG had done.

Microsoft reported sales of 90 million copies of Windows 7 at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on Tuesday.
The 90-million sales figure, announced by Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Peter Klein at the San Francisco-based event, represented a significant increase over a previous report. In late January, Microsoft indicated that 60 million Windows 7 licenses had been sold through the end of its fiscal second quarter.
Klein said that there was a continuing momentum for Windows 7, which he called the "fastest selling operating system in history." He made similar comments during Microsoft's 2Q announcement.
Current Windows 7 sales figures are largely from retail and consumer purchases, but Klein said that he expects enterprise purchases to surge as IT spending improves and refresh cycles take place. Consumer sales of Windows 7 were launched in October 2009.
For FY10 H1, Microsoft had overall revenues of $31.9 billion (+1 percent year over year) and operating income of $13 billion (+9 percent year over year).

It is However truly GREAT, MOVING,and CLASSIC nudity!
( though admittedly, a bit "commercial" )
----WATCH THIS VIDEO-----
Perhaps you missed this commercial while watching the superbowl. Enjoy.
Fleggaard is the equivalent discount store to our COSTCO stores here in the USA.
Fleggaard Holding is based in Krusaa, Denmark. Just across Germany's northern-most border with Denmark you’ll find an incredible superstore called Fleggaard. There, you can buy everything you need - tubs of gummy bears, cases of wine, industrial strength dishwashing soap at prices 30% cheaper than you’ll find in Germany. It is Denmark's Costco, packaged as a German loophole.
The 100+ women do stunts in the air while free-falling, holding hands to spell out Half-off on Dishwasher soap at Fleggaard. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a man in Denmark who hasn’t seen and fallen in love with that commercial.
It was geared strictly to men. The ad is real!
Here is a link to simply the best advertisement ever made. Honestly. It's awesome.

MOST people think of the grand challenges in computing as big science projects, like simulating nuclear explosions or protein folding. But with the holiday shopping season just ended, consider another: retail marketing.
Retailing is emerging as a real-world incubator for testing how computer firepower and smart software can be applied to social science — in this case, how variables like household economics and human behavior affect shopping.
To be sure, major retailers like Wal-Mart Stores have long been sifting through in-store sales and demographic information to aim goods at different stores and to tightly manage supplies.
But what is changing, experts say, is the rapid surge in the amount and types of digital data that retailers can now tap, and the improved computing tools to try to make sense of it. The data explosion spans internal sources including point-of-sale and shipment-tracking information, as well as census data and syndicated services. Companies also track online visitors to Web commerce sites, members of social networks like Facebook and browsers using smartphones.
The better tools, they say, are ever cheaper and faster computers and so-called business intelligence or analytic software for finding useful information and patterns in that data.
Retailers are increasingly mining vast troves of digital information to improve the decisions they make about pricing, shelf-stocking and product offerings. “This huge and growing ecosystem of data is an asset that some retailers are really beginning to exploit for competitive advantage,” said Thomas H. Davenport, a professor of information technology and management at Babson College. “It brings more science into the business. Relying on gut feel is yesterday’s strategy in retailing.”

Well, now that the rest of the October NPD Top 20 list is out, we can see why Brütal Legend didn’t make it into the top 10 – Eddie Riggs was seemingly unable to fight his way past the equally brutal Demon’s Souls on PlayStation 3. It all makes perfect sense now.

Well, we made it. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launch has come and gone and society still seems to be more or less intact. And not surprisingly a whole lot of you went out and bought it.
As predicted by, well, everyone, Modern Warfare 2 has demolished the first day sales records both in North America and across the pond in the UK. People were even lining up for the game in Japan, where hardcore Western developed shooters can be a really tough sell.

Despite tough talk from Activision, it seemed that nothing could save Guitar Hero 5; not commercials with a plethora of pantomiming Playmates, not the fact that it was released on more platforms, not even the time-traveling son of Eddie Van Halen himself could prevent a loss to the Lads from Liverpool.

Yeah, we just couldn’t really be bothered to try and dredge up something “witty” to go in the headline. Suffice it to say, it must be a slow season in Azeroth, as NC Soft’s Korean MMO import, Aion: The Tower of Eternity, ended up in the number one spot on September’s PC NPD retail charts.

As the industry posted its sixth month of year-over-year losses, there were some interesting battles in the software side of things. You gotta give Bats credit – it took the entire combined NFL (and three quarters of a million Wii Sports Resort fans) to keep him out of the top three. However, you also must factor in the fact that Batman: Arkham Asylum was only on sale for one week of the month and still managed to rake in over half a million copies sold. Madden NFL 10, which had ten more days on store shelves, shifted almost a million units on Xbox 360 alone and over 600k on PlayStation 3. Will either of them have the legs to still be around next month when they have competition like Halo 3: ODST, Guitar Hero 5 and The Beatles: Rock Band to face? That remains to be seen.

Who says that gamers have grown sick and tired of World War II-based shooters? Certainly not the numbers, that’s for sure. EA and DICE announced today that Battlefield 1943 has carpet bombed its way to a new speed record for first day and first week sales for a downloadable game. More than 600,000 copies of the game sold over PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, despite the game’s rough launch.
DICE’s first download-only effort seems to have been a pretty impressive initial success, showing that console fans apparently think the $15 price point is more than agreeable.
“We are honored by the reception that the game has received so far,” said producer Gordon Van Dyke of DICE. “Watching and participating in this non-stop multiplayer action has been a real treat for us and we can’t believe how fast our fans reached 43 million kills.”Who says that gamers have grown sick and tired of World War II-based shooters?... more
