David "Snarkasaur" Stewart takes a look at the current plethora of gaming tie-ins, from movies, to books, to comics and more.
He writes: "Lately we have seen a renaissance of gaming tie-ins. Tie-ins can include movies, comic books, novels, and even television series. Big publishers like wringing every cent they can from a popular IP, and thankfully this will often bring fans some extra material about the universes that we've fallen in love with. They aren't always done well, but I would argue that there is an increasing movement towards hiring quality writers and artists for these projects, and it has made for some fantastic tie-ins. This will be but a brief overview of a few of the better ones from recent games, with possibly more to come in the future as I expand my own collection. Dragon Age: Origins is an action RPG by BioWare slated for release next month. Only a couple months ago, the PlayStation 3 version of the title was delayed to later November, while the PC and Xbox 360 counterparts are still aimed for an early November release. At any rate, there’s no telling which version might be favored, so until then consumers will have to wait a few extra weeks to cop the PlayStation 3 version of the title. However, there might be a bonus for those patiently awaiting the PlayStation 3 release of the title.Dragon Age: Origins is an action RPG by BioWare slated for release next month. Only a... more

BioWare has talked a good game about Dragon Age: Origins so far, extolling the virtues of the story and setting, but I had yet to be truly sold on how a standard sword & sorcery fantasy setting was supposed to exciting and engaging. In short, I wasn’t feeling gripped by the proverbial nads, as it were.
Today they released this trailer, entitled “Sacred Ashes”.
