I Otaku ; Identifying as a J-culture enthusiast
by Colette Bennett
[ When I first started watching anime, I had never heard of the word otaku. However, in 1983 Japanese author Akio Nakamori wrote a little series called "An Investigation of Otaku" in loli manga mag Manga Burikko, and the word caught on as a Japanese slang word referring to a person with an obsessive interest, specifically in manga, anime or videogames. Sound familiar?
One thing a lot of American Japanophiles may not know, however, is that otaku is often considered a disparaging term by the Japanese. ]

Hi All
This is a journal of my ideas my observations and my dreams, including the steps i am taking to achieve those dreams.
My intent is to change the world or rather to influence the future vision of the world.
This is a list of the blogs i am publishing:
#1)The list of universal human needs, i believe this list holds self evident paths to happiness, clarity and world change, our relationship with these human needs, our understanding and practice of those needs fulfills the balance each of us seeks. think of an activity and hold it up to the list of universal human needs and see how many needs are being met by that activity. Try to practice all human needs evenly for balance.
http://theideamanworldchangecomingtoyou.blogspot.com/2012/02/conversation-about-universal-human.html
#2)I am developing games to satisfy universal human needs and change the world.
My first project will be getting ''GREEN SHOOTS INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS GROUP'' off the ground. some of the ideas for green shoots are in the link below.

“Born to Die” is the new music video directed by the celebrated photographer/filmmaker Yoann Lemoine, from the chart-topping major label album debut by 25-year-old retro chanteuse Lana Del Rey. A number of malcontent bloggers have taken snarky aim at Del Rey, taking issue with the size of her fantastic pout, with the fact that she changed her name from the far less exotic Lizzy Grant, and for presenting an image they feel is just too cool to be real. Nevertheless, Del Rey comes across like a gangster Lauren Bacall, finds musical inspiration in the bright lights of Monte Carlo and can sing with enough grace and longing to break your heart after just one verse.
This piece includes color photographs and the music video.

“The First Time I Ran Away” is a beautifully animated music video for M. Ward’s new solo album, “A Wasteland Companion,” set for release on Merge April 10th. The “Him” from the indie music group She & Him is Matthew Stephen Ward, known by his stage name M. Ward, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who rose to prominence in the Portland, Oregon music scene. The delightful animated video was directed by Joel Trussell and his team of animators, who use M. Ward’s lyrics as a basis to tell the three-part story following a girl who’s run away with her pet llama and fish. The soft, pastel colors are a perfect companion to M. Ward’s soothing voice.
This piece includes colorful illustrations and the wonderful animated music video.

“The Wolf I Used To Be” is a magical animated short film, a collaborative project created by artists at London’s Nearly Normal Studios. The film is a short narrative about a wolf’s drastic life change. Everyone has their own interpretation about what “The Wolf” might mean: it can be seen as a reflection of modern life. The grass always seems to be much greener on the other side, but as is often the case in real life, it truly isn’t.
This piece includes a number of colorful illustrations and the animated short film.

Have you ever wanted to participate in a flash mob?
Well this is a flash mob of a different color.
"Viral flash mob micro trash film project"
This is how it started.I wrote the following note to family and friends on facebook;
Hi All
I am working on a documentary about micro trash.
I started by filming road side trash.First i started by shooting a "before clean up"
shot of high density road side trash and then an "after clean" shot.
Next
My next filming will be of a road side pull out with a high density of micro trash.
I will do a before clean up shot(ideally to frame the shot well i will be looking for a crescent shaped pull out.).
Next i will do a half clean up shot to give some contrast of before and after.
The last shot will be a shot with the cleanup complete.
Other planed shots
#2 shoot
Dig down one foot and examine micro trash penetration(along the road/on the beach/in a field)
as it breaks down in to the sand or soil.
#3 shoot
Taking the trash home i will lay out and sort the trash on a tarp,
a trash inventory of sorts.
Weigh of trash collected?
#4 Editing and narrating.
Micro trash is a symptom of a larger social problem.
what is it?
Between now and then
I invite you to film one or more of the same shots and share them on facebook.
THIS IS WHERE THE "VIRAL FLASH MOB MICRO TRASH FILM PROJECT" STARTS.
My intent is to raise awareness about micro trash,
whether it be on the side of the road,on ocean beaches or along rivers.
I am not judging, more than anything,
i am trying to understand the social disease that got the trash there in the first place.
Raising awareness about micro trash i believe will reduce its spread.
How you can help raise awareness;
--Share this with friends, lets get viral.( the things you share with people are a reflection of your character,
the more noble the content you share, the more you bring a environment of nobility in to being.)
--Make a comment or start a conversation.(thoughtful words have a massive positive social ripple effect.)
--chose one of the shots above, film it and share it hear.Have you ever wanted to participate in a flash mob?
Well this is a flash mob of a... more

OCCUPY GUY FAWKES
A persistent image oft seen among the Occupy milieu these days is a mask depicting a sallow, smirking, moustached alleged likeness of Guy Fawkes, a nearly legendary British failed revolutionary who plotted to blow up Parliament some four centuries ago. The mask was initially created by David Lloyd for Alan Moore’s 1982 graphic novel, V for Vendetta, whose protagonist seeks to destroy the government. Over the Guy Fawkes Day weekend — "Remember, remember, the Fifth of November: the gunpowder treason and plot" — Michael Cavna at ComicRiffs asked Lloyd for his thoughts on the mass appropriation of his mask:

“The Last Goodbye” is a powerfully emotive music video portrait of the rock duo Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince, directed by the Oscar nominated actress Samantha Morton. The Kills celebrate ten years of musical partnership with this poignant and captivating video. The melancholic song “The Last Goodbye” offsets the usually hard-edged sound that Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince are known for, with haunting vocals and a nostalgic piano loop.
Shot in monochrome on crisp, silvery 35mm film, the video reflects the beautiful simplicity of the track, while using an old-school photo-booth to provide an intimate backdrop for Mosshart’s intense and heart-warming opening performance. Her introduction is followed by a series of touching poses that casts a tender light on the musicians’ longstanding and spirited friendship, as Mosshart and Hince share memories of their first meeting and a decade of collaboration.
This piece includes black-and-white photographs and the heart-warming music video.

Many years ago, during my time as a child and through young adulthood, I was immersed in the (sometimes solitary) lavish joys of nature in rural South Carolina. The memories of the steaming, dusty red clay roads and the smells of downstate piney-woods are now fading away, replaced by years of gritty urban life in Chicago’s inner-city. However, that doesn’t mean that now I’ve become completely blind to the beauty of rural landscapes. I just have to enjoy it from the comfort of a chair, in more climate-controlled conditions. So this video is pretty perfect for me.
“Yosemite HD” is an amazing four-minute time-lapse short art film, a collaboration between Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty. They made numerous trips to Yosemite National Park, where they captured the beautiful landscape it offers for visitors every year. Set to “Outro,” from M83′s lovely and stratospheric “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming,” this might be the best music video you could ask for. So stop whatever you’re doing right now, put this video in full-screen mode and breath very deeply during the film’s duration!
This piece includes colorful high-resolution photographs, as well as the exhilarating short film.

“Arctic Story,” a full-length documentary by photographer Jenny E. Ross, documents the changing lifestyle and environment of the Inuit people of Siorapaluk, the northernmost settlement on Earth. “The sea remains unfrozen along the coast in late fall, at a time of year when it should be covered with ice,” Ross writes on the film’s Vimeo page. “Glaciers are melting, and shedding huge quantities of ice and meltwater into the ocean. The animals inhabiting the land and water are threatened by rising temperatures and loss of sea ice. Greenlanders who have survived for generations by hunting are now losing their prey and their traditional way of life."

The Disney Princesses are a controversial subject among some parents. Either they're considered iconic reminders of Disney's animated classics, or ubiquitous examples of the studio's marketing genius. Worse still, some cultural critics believe the princesses are dangerous, anti-feminist role models for young girls.
But not all princesses are alike. Disney's reigning beauties all have something to offer, even the old-school ones who are more damsels-in-distress than their contemporary counterparts. Moviefone has ranked the princesses according to the example they set for the girls who love them and want to be them.

“A Good Wife” is a brilliant five-minute animated short film by the talented Toronto-based illustrator W. Scott Forbes, featuring the artist’s signature minimalist painterly artwork. The film presents a quiet tragedy of mid-1900′s infidelity, the tale of a woman who is in utter shock over her torrid sexual affair with a man who is not her husband. Tormented by painful regret, she decides not to disclose her infidelity to her family. Thus, the family members carry on as though nothing is wrong, going about their daily lives in blissful ignorance. “A Good Wife” provides powerful imagery and music to narrate its plot, successfully leaving viewers feeling emotionally invested despite its short five-minute duration.
