“We’ve All Been There” is an acclaimed, inspiring short film directed by Australian filmmaker Nicholas Clifford, which just won top honors at Tropfest Australia 2013, the world’s biggest short-film festival. In the film, a struggling young waitress has to come up with $800 immediately or lose her house, while a flat tire leaves an older woman stranded in the middle of a desert. At the same time, an unemployed man desperately needs a job. All these stories are brought together as what goes around comes around and they impact each other in a way the three people could never have imagined.
This piece includes color photographs and the award-winning short film.

Not every fan has good intentions as sweet as American Pie.
Actress Alyson Hannigan has gotten a restraining order against an obsessed fan who has threatened to rape and kill her.
The troubled man, John Hobbs was said to be “mentally unstable and was recently discharged from a mental hospital” and had posted on Alyson’s site, Facebook and MySpace pages all the ways he would attack her if he had the chance.
“Lets see How can I get myself in troble today [sic]. If I go with what I’ve been acussed of Most of my Life, I suppose I should start with being a rapist, so any nice girls out there want to get raped [sic]?”
The request was granted in L.A. County Superior Court and also stretches out to husband, actor Alexis Denisof and their two children.
She’s due back in court on March 6th to make the order permanent.

Well, the man ain’t quitting his day job anytime soon, but this isn’t super horrible.
For his legion of male and female fans on Valentine’s Day, actor Vin Diesel decided to share something more than his heart: his singing ability.
Check out this interesting video of the Fast and The Furious star singing along to Rihanna’s current single, “Stay”.
Now yeah, there are some — let’s say “pitchy” notes all over the place, but in his lower register, it’s not too bad.
OK, it’s not too good, either. But it’s definitely interesting.
Head on after the jump to check it out.

“I know exactly what films I’ve done that f*ck*ng suck donkey. And I know the ones that are good, that people like. And I know it not because of the box office, because the box office is not going to tell you the truth. I know it because I have friends that don’t hold back. They don’t depend on me for money or employment. They’re just friends. Friends tell the truth.”
- Ashton Kutcher, realizing that Dude, Where’s My Car? probably won’t be remembered as a defining moment in (his) cinema history

Something tells me her mother may have helped this one along.
Angelina Jolie’s 4-year-old daughter, Vivienne (one of her biological children with Brad) is on her way to becoming a certified movie star in her own right. She’ll be appearing with her mommy in Disney’s latest take on the Snow White story called Maleficent — told from the perspective of the wicked witch (which Jolie will be playing).
But not only is she starring in a blockbuster with one of the world’s biggest stars, the little one is bringing in a lot of bank: about $3,000 a week! Not to mention a per diem of $60 a day, which could easily fill up her little piggy bank.
Vivienne is set to star as little Aurora (that would be Snow White) in the flick. Sometimes, it’s good to be famous — even by association.

The full teaser trailer for the One Direction movie (currently known as 1D3D) was released over the weekend, two days following the snippet on UK morning show, Daybreak and if the preview proves one thing (yes, I did that purposefully), this film is going to be massive.
Director Morgan Spurlock (Super-Size Me) followed the reigning princes of pop and shows the members — Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson — goofing around before their big upcoming tour coming later this year (the first date is in about two weeks) and showing the serious side of fame — especially when Zayn is seen speaking to his mother on the phone and tells her not to cry.
The feels, y’all.
The sweetest moment, however, must go to Liam, who warmly expresses his feelings regarding his fellow bandmates.
“I always wanted a younger brother”, he says, “and now, I’ve got four of them.”
The movie is set for release on August 30th. Check out the full teaser after the jump.

“The Eagleman Stag” is an award-winning, stunning monochrome stop-motion animated short film by Michael Please, which was awarded Best Short Animation at the 2011 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). The film has received universal acclaim playing at high-profile film festivals including Sundance and SXSW, winning awards at Annecy and Clermont-Ferrand, in addition to BAFTA. The film was named one of 10 finalists competing for the 2013 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. “The Eagleman Stag” has just been honored as winner of the 2013 SOTW Best Short Animation Award.
Told in a distinctive, contemporary film-noir style, “The Eagleman Stag” is a story of life and fear, a darkly comic take on one man’s obsession with the quickening perception of time that faces all of us as we age, and his attempts to counter this effect. As Peter Eagleman nears the end of his days, his obsessive attempts to define the world, and his haunting perception of time within it, leads to progressively extreme measures to control and counter time’s increasing pace.

If you heard any random screams from young girls yesterday, no worries: they were probably just excited about this.
The first teaser of the One Direction movie (tentatively titled 1D3D) was released on the UK morning show Daybreak yesterday morning (or late Thursday evening for us).
There’s nothing much to take a high notice of in the short 30-second preview, but it’s sure to make their legion of Directioners very excited.
OK, I was too!

“Adam and Dog” is a stunning hand-drawn, 15-minute animated short film by writer-director Minkyu Lee. This 2013 Oscar-Nominated Animated Short, and winner of last year’s Annie Award, has been one of the most celebrated independent short animations from the past year. Minkyu Lee is a visual development artist for Disney’s feature animation department, but “Adam and Dog” was created as a completely independent film without any major studio involvement.
The film’s story is a parable for the journey of Adam and Eve, with references and symbolism to being cast out of some form of paradise into the vast unknown. The tale about man and dog in the Garden of Eden focuses on the theme of the joy of discovering a friend, and how despite the plight of his human friend, the dog’s selfless loyalty never falters.
This piece includes colorful illustrations and the acclaimed, beautifully animated short film.
