If you’re someone who suffers from color blindness, or Color Vision Deficiency, Modern Warfare 3 may be the game that allows you to maintain the same competitive edge as other players.
Sledgehammer Games VP and COO Michael Condrey had this to say in a blog post:
“Research suggests that as much as 6% of the general population suffers from Color Blindness, or more accurately Color Vision Deficiency. Men (9-12%) are 20x more likely to be afflicted than women (0.25-1%). Those numbers vary depending on which source you quote, but we estimate that nearly a million gamers are playing Call of Duty every day with this issue. I am happy to report that we are working on a Color Blind Assist option for Modern Warfare 3.
So start honing your MP skills, Nick. You won’t be able blame your red-green deficiency for all that friendly-fire come November 8th.
Best,
Michael”
Could this be the start of other games following suit as well?

PS3 Debug Firmware 3.66 Leaked
The debug firmware of the PS3 3.66 update has been leaked on to the net, but there is no need to get all excited or angry - this does not mean the onset of custom firmware... yet.
A hacker over at demonhades.org known as Consoledev has got their hands on the debug firmware and leaked it online, but as an associated forum member states:
No, this does not mean CFW, but this hopefully can be useful to devs in establishing the future of CFW. This firmware is only for developers, researchers and this will only work on TEST units.
So do not expect to be able to use this yourselves unless you have a test unit, but as said, this could carve the way towards future CFW (custom firmware).PS3 Debug Firmware 3.66 Leaked

"Currently, in the western countries especially, war-themed gun-shooting games, which are not well-received in Japan, are very popular", he said. "It is a reality that some of these games sell 10 million units per year in those markets, and this is one valid type of video game genre. I would personally feel sad if all video games became something like that, but on the other hand, I do not think such games should disappear."
This comment was said today at a investors Q&A in Japan. These questions often are direct and get a direct answer. Nintendo is still living in a kids world and still providing games for them but kids grow up and they seam not to. For more info like this please check out Video Game Pride
A point Nintendo president Satoru Iwata addressed during a recent investor Q&A session in Japan. While acknowledging that 80% of Nintendo's business now comes from outside Japan, he also has to acknowledge that the games people play outside Japan can be a little different."Currently, in the western countries especially, war-themed gun-shooting games,... more

Mission Against Terror Winner A year supply of Twinkies
Sounds like a bad joke but it is true!

guys at Suba Games to give away prizes for their game Mission Against Terror. After playing countless hours of the game killing flesh eating mummies and killer robots, a winner was finally crowned in our massive Twinkies giveaway. Yes, you heard that right, we gave away a year supply of Twinkies.
Congrats to Ryan! With all those hours playing games, now he has no reason to even go food shopping. Because Twinkies are filled with all the nutrients you need! There was also the extra $250 Amazon gift card he picked up in our Mission Against Terror: End of the World promotion.
If you wonder what all those Twinkies look like, here it is. He reminds of the cat magician on America’s Got Talent this past week, but that’s neither here nor there.Mission Against Terror Winner A year supply of Twinkies

Iconic synth pioneer dreams up revolutionary way to access new music
http://youtu.be/kEqJeua-_1M
Best known as the singer/synthesist behind the Top 5 smash hit “She Blinded Me With Science” and as the co-inventor of the Beatnik polyphonic ringtone engine, Thomas Dolby today announced his latest creation: The Floating City is a rich transmedia game with a living world that changes and reacts to player contributions. It uses web browsers, social networks, and even smart phones and iPads as a way for fans to access his latest musical endeavors.
The Floating City is open for registration at http://www.floatingcity.com. Players from around the world can form tribes and collaborate to earn free music downloads, merchandise and concert tickets. The leading tribe will even win the right to stage a private concert at which Thomas Dolby and his band will perform his forthcoming album in its entirety.
Completely free to the public, The Floating City is a casual game that hooks you into building a whole story world with your tribe — as deep as you want to go. It runs on a standard web browser, smartphone or iPad without additional software installation. It is targeted at players of all ages, regardless of whether they are familiar with Thomas Dolby’s catalog. But diehard fans of the five-time Grammy™-nominated songwriter will be delighted to find that The Floating City integrates characters, places, and objects named in every one of his albums going back to the beginning of his career . . . and before.
“The Floating City is set against a dystopian vision of the 1940s that might have existed had WWII turned out a lot differently,” says Dolby. A global energy experiment went haywire, the Earth’s magnetic fields have been reversed, and the planetary climate system violated. Science has betrayed us: now what must the species do to survive?
Survivors explore a fictional Google map, forming tribes and trading relics amidst a bizarre sea-going barter society. As they struggle to unravel the enigma that is The Floating City, players can haggle over merchandise and music downloads — including brand new songs from the much anticipated CD A Map of the Floating City, Dolby’s first album in 20 years, which will be released following the climax of the game.
“This is a brilliant concept,’ said writer/economist Steven Levitt. “It’s a cross between Freakonomics and Burning Man, with a back-story that would have made J.G. Ballard proud.”Iconic synth pioneer dreams up revolutionary way to access new music... more

Bungie is hiring Video game designers PlayStation 3 and mobile/server engineering positions
"Take Our Jobs...If You Dare!"
New PlayStation 3 and mobile/server engineering positions
If that sounds like you, please send a resume to careers@bungie.com and include the position for which you are applying in the subject line of the email (or you can use the job-specific email links included in the positions to the left).
Don’t forget to include samples of your work (attached files or URLs are great), which clearly demonstrate your artistic proficiency in a specific area. For example, if you’re applying for a character artist position, we’d love to see your strongest character work up front versus paging through several environment and vehicle shots before arriving at your gruesomely cool monsters. Detailing how your reel is broken down is also paramount; we want to know what you did and how you did it. Finally, please be sure to put your best, most polished and approved work forward. We look forward to checking it out!Bungie is hiring Video game designers PlayStation 3 and mobile/server engineering... more

This American life of ours has long been pro-violence and anti-sex, unless the two can be merged so that violence is the dominant theme. The U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed that historical record on Monday in declaring California’s ban on the sale of violent video games to minors unconstitutional while continuing to deny constitutional protection to purely prurient sexual material for either minors or adults.

Alleged developer says he was not credited on Team Bondi game despite 'arduous work'
A man who claims to have worked Australian studio Team Bondi for three years has said he quit because "I felt as though my sanity depended on it".
The developer, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was asked to work “10-12 hours almost every day and on weekends” to help build Rockstar’s latest game, LA Noire.
He also claims to be one of the 130-odd people not named on LA Noire’s final credits – two accusations that could cast a different light on one of the world’s most promising development studios, Team Bondi.
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, the alleged insider described working at Team Bondi as “being an inflexible and virtually praise-free environment”.
"After my wife had been pushing me to quit for more than a year, I did," he said.
Article continues below
The developer said he nevertheless deserved to be credited on the game for putting three years of work in.
"There has been a lot of press saying how incredible [LA Noire’s success] is for the Australian gaming industry, since it is the biggest and most successful game made in Australia to date," he said.
"But that has come at the price that most of the people that worked on it will never have proof of having worked there, unless they want to pull out a pay check."
Team Bondi and Rockstar have not publicly commented on the matter.
CREDIT CRUNCH
This is not the first time Team Bondi has been accused of omitting the work of numerous developers on LA Noire’s credits roll.
A new independently run website, called LA Noire Credits, was recently established to credit all people who have worked on the game.
A co-founder of the website, also speaking anonymously to the Sydney Morning Herald, clams that nearly 130 people were not credited for their work on LA Noire.
The IGDA, whose purpose is to clarify general policy on such matters, declined to clarify general policy on the matter.
Antony Reed, head of the Game Developers' Association of Australia, refused to comment.
A spokesperson for the IGDA Melbourne chapter said “it is important for individuals working in the industry to check their contracts before signing them”.
DARK PAST
This is not the first instance that a studio building a Rockstar Games product has been accused of tough employee practices.
Rockstar San Diego – creators of Red Dead Redemption – faced a staff exodus after serious accusations of unremitting crunch work.
And some 50 developers based at Rockstar Vienna had apparently been left off the credits list for Manhunt 2.Alleged developer says he was not credited on Team Bondi game despite 'arduous... more
