The brutal rape in Delhi and the courageous mass protests across India against it have revealed a seismic fault line that exists not only in India, but throughout the entire world: The oppression of women that concentrates one of the most basic social divisions in a world dominated by the system of capitalism-imperialism.The brutal rape in Delhi and the courageous mass protests across India against it have... more

Guns are only up for debate on corporate owned news shows when used by the 0.00001% of Americans that turn out to be deranged killers on cocktails of anti-depressants.
That’s why you won’t be seeing any reports on an incident that occurred in Atlanta Friday when a mother of two fended off an intruder with a handgun, successfully protecting her kids and her home.
Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman told wsbtv news that the woman spotted a man attempting to get into her property with a crowbar. The sheriff said that she ushered her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace and prepared to defend herself with the weapon.
When the intruder gained access to the property, he was in for an unpleasant surprise.
“The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver,” Chapman told reporters.
The woman opened fire and delivered five rounds to the intruder.
“She’s standing over him, and she realizes she’s fired all six rounds. And the guy’s telling her to quit shooting,” Chapman said.
The woman then ran with the children to a neighbor's house and waited for police to arrive. The shooter fled but was found a short time later in his car by police. He was badly injured with gunshot wounds to his face and neck, but survived.
The woman’s husband, Donnie Herman said ”My wife is a hero. She protected her kids. She did what she was supposed to do as responsible, prepared gun owner.”

If we follow the logic of Congress and use FBI statistics, the government should outlaw hammers and clubs.
According to the FBI’s annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outpaces the number of murders committed with a rifle.
Awr Hawkins, writing for Breitbart, cites the government figures: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618, Hawkins writes.
Moreover, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by rifles.
But you won’t hear Obama, Dianne Feinstein, Chuck Schumer and the gun-grabbers in Congress calling for outlawing and “grandfathering” hands.
The FBI stats underscore the fact that for Feinstein and crew job one is outlawing the possession of modern firearms. Preventing the murder of children comes in a distant second.
A government that kills thousands of innocents in Pakistan and Yemen and has slaughtered millions since the Vietnam War – including more than 500,000 children through disease, starvation and malnutrition in Iraq – doesn’t give a whit about the murder of school kids in Connecticut.
Feinstein’s jihad against the Second Amendment is about disarming the American people. It is about making sure the government maintains a monopoly on power. If we follow the logic of Congress and use FBI statistics, the government should... more

America has the most incarcerated citizens of any country in the world. But our recidivism rates prove that our system punishes criminals without rehabilitating them or addressing any of the problems that lead them to commit a crime in the first place.
(Watch: Tune in to 'Vanguard: Prison Gangs' Sunday morning at 9E/6P to learn more about how prisoners live in maximum-security facilities)
Some say the punishment fits the crime: people who break the law don't deserve to have tax dollars spent on them beyond feeding and housing them. Others say we need to address the roots of these crimes and treat prisoners humanely in order to prevent the cycle from repeating itself.
How could we reform America's prison system?

I don't really care for Ann Coultier But she makes a good observation about states or cities that concealed weapons laws having fewer muggings, and killings.
If the deterrent effect of concealed-carry laws seems surprising to you, that’s because the media hide stories of armed citizens stopping mass shooters. At the Portland shooting, for example, no explanation was given for the amazing fact that the assailant managed to kill only two people in the mall during the busy Christmas season.
It turns out, concealed-carry-holder Nick Meli hadn’t noticed that the mall was a gun-free zone. He pointed his (otherwise legal) gun at the shooter as he paused to reload, and the next shot was the attempted mass murderer killing himself. (Meli aimed, but didn’t shoot, because there were bystanders behind the shooter.)http://dailycaller.com/2012/12/19/we-know-how-to-stop-school-shootings

Paragould, Arkansas Mayor Mike Gaskill and Police Chief Todd Stovall announced at a December 14 Town Hall meeting that beginning in 2013 the streets of their city were going to be patrolled by police officers bearing SWAT gear and AR-15s. “If you’re out walking, we’re going to stop you, ask why you’re out walking, and check for your ID.”
The move comes in response to a recent increase in violent crime. In a city with a population of only 26,113, Paragould had 86 rapes, robberies and assaults in 2010 and those numbers are expected to nearly double for 2012. Paragould currently has a City-Data crime index rating of 465.0, well above the national average of 309.3.
Property crime statistics in Paragould are even more alarming. While the national average for burglary, theft and auto theft is at 7 for every 1,000 people, the Paragould average is 20.14.
Police Chief Stovall told citizens attending the Town Hall meeting that he did not consult an attorney before making plans to institute what he considers martial law. He also announced that task force members could stop anyone they wanted to and didn’t even need to be looking for a specific suspect on the streets.
According to Stovall, any individual who does not produce identification could be charged with obstructing a governmental operation.

Meanwhile, a madman ran amok in a school in Henan province, China today, as well.
A knife-wielding man injured 22 children and one adult outside a primary school in central China as students were arriving for classes Friday, police said, the latest in a series of periodic rampage attacks at Chinese schools and kindergartens.

Were a group of Southwestern University graduates living in Missouri part of an innocent prayer group or a bizarre religious sex cult? After the murder of one of the members, the portrait of the group that is emerging points towards the latter.
Bethany Leidlein Deaton, a 27-year-old nurse originally from Arlington, was found dead in a van near a lake in Kansas City on October 30 with a white trash bag over her head. A purported suicide note was placed beside her body that said the following:
My name is Bethany Deaton. I chose this evil thing. I did it because I wouldn’t be a real person and what is the point of living if it is too late for that? I wish I had chosen differently a long time ago. I knew it all and refused to listen. Maybe Jesus will still save me.
While her death was made to look like a suicide, authorities now believe her husband urged another man in his prayer group—23-year-old Micah Moore—to murder his wife in order to prevent Bethany from telling others that she had been forced to engage in communal sex, Joe Robertson and Donald Bradley reported in the Kansas City Star.
Bethany Deaton and her husband Tyler Deaton, 26, met at Southwestern University in Georgetown, where they were both students. Tyler Deaton, a 2005 graduate of Corpus Christi’s Calallen High School, had emerged as a religious leader at Southwestern, forming his own prayer group after not liking the established ones at the school. His group, according to the Star, “prayed longer. Sang stronger. And held its members to stricter interpretations of the Bible.” Tyler Deaton’s prayer group condemned homosexuality, something that the leader himself had struggled with and had overcome, his friends at Southwestern told the Star.
