Expecting a new baby can change a lot of things, including your adult dog’s behavior. His position in your family will change and you don’t want him to blame the baby. Make as many changes in your home environment and your dog’s routine as early as you can.
If certain areas of your home will be off limits, like the nursery, establish that now. It’s also a good idea to teach your dog the difference between his toys and the baby’s. For dogs that have trouble differentiating between certain toys, use scent recognition to teach them the difference – put a dab of Listerine on the baby’s toys, truss the scented baby toy and a dog toy then play the game “which one is yours?” Playing this game once a week, most dogs learn the difference within a month.
The sound of a crying baby also upsets a lot of adult dogs, so it’s a good idea to desensitize your dog to the sounds before the baby arrives. Use a tape of a baby crying, put it in the crib, turn it on and see how your dog reacts.

After Lao Pan passed away this month at 68, his dog disappeared from his home in Panjiatun, a village in eastern China.
Residents of the village later found the dog sitting by his former owner’s grave site, where he remained for seven days, unmoved by the villagers efforts to coax him away with food.
When the villagers tried to forcibly remove him and gave him some sweet buns to eat, he merely took the buns and brought them back to the grave. They eventually relented and brought the food to him.
Sky News reports that there a plans to build a kennel for the dog inside the graveyard, so that he can always be near his best friend.

A dog allegedly was spotted driving a mobile home down the street in Darwin, Australia, after learning how to drive by observing his owner, observers claim.
Woodley, a 2-year-old German Koolie, allegedly took the mobile home for a spin while his owner, Richard McCormack was in a store, The Sun reported.
"I came out and saw the bus going down the road. I couldn't believe it," McCormack said.
This isn't the first time Woodley has tried to take the wheel, his owner explained.
"He sits next to me when I'm driving and in the driver's seat when I'm not. The handbrake is on the dashboard and he's seen me release it many times. He was just copying me. He's tried it on before," said McCormack.
The vehicle was eventually brought to a stop when bystander Phil Newton, 30, jumped in an open window and put the handbrake back on after seeing that a dog was navigating the mobile home.
"This was weird, even for the Northern Territory," he said.

You might remember Polo, the husky fitted with a prosthetic paw after being hit by a car, or Midnite, the miniature horse who took off running when first fitted with a prosthetic leg, but this red heeler pup takes being a bionic animal to a whole new level.
Naki'o is the world's first dog to be fitted with a complete set of four prosthetic paws, according to incrediblefeatures.com. Naki'o was barely 5 weeks old when he and his brothers and sisters were abandoned by a family fleeing their foreclosed home. Having barely survived the Nebraskan winter, all four of the dog's paws were deformed into rounded stumps after being stuck in an icy puddle.
Incrediblefeatures.com reports that Veterinary technician Christie Tomlinson "organized a fundraiser to pay for Naki’o to have his two back legs fitted with prosthetics."
From the site:
He took to these so enthusiastically, that Orthopets decided to complete the process free of charge. It was the first time they’d fitted an animal with a complete set of new legs.
Now, Naki'o is able to run, jump and play just like other dogs, thanks to the second chance his new set of legs have given him.
