A cat descended a 30- to 40-foot Saguaro cactus in Arizona after being stuck on top of it for three days.
The cat, black with white markings, apparently became stuck on top of the cactus in a desert area near Saguaro Lake, KNVX-TV, Phoenix, reported Friday.
A witness said he first saw the cat there three days before it came down.
Slowly but surely, the cat started to climb down Friday, starting face-first before turning around and backing its way down. Near the bottom, it leaped off the cactus, making a safe landing.
The feline was seen wandering in the area after news crews left the scene.

Memes are often seen as the lowest form of culture for a good reason but now academics, advertisers and media people have started to seriously examine lolcats, Fails and the like—and they're making tons of money doing it.The Independent has done a brilliant profile of clever LolCat fan Kate Miltner, a 29-year-old digital-strategist-turned-graduate-student at the London School of Economics. She's working on a masters degree studying internet memes, using focus groups to figure out why lolcats are so obnoxiously compelling.
"The 29-year-old has just handed in her dissertation to complete the requirements for her MSc from the university's Department of Media and Communications. The focus of her study? Internet memes, ie, often trite, viral images and films. More specifically, her favourite furry ones."
The article frames her story as a struggle by poor meme aficionados for legitimacy, and Miltner is happy to play along. "People think 'silly cat picture,'" Miltner told the paper. But the idea that no one takes memes seriously is seriously outdated, if it was ever true. Memes make tons of money. As Gawker points out the most well-worn example of this is the Cheezburger empire, which was built on aggregating lolcats and pictures of "Fail"; it spawned a bunch of popular books and raised $30 million in start-up funding in January. More recently, 4chan founder Christopher Poole raised more than $3 million for his new start-up, Canvas, an imageboard which lets people create and share dumb memes more easily than ever.
For more info on the story check out The Independent article and the Gawker report.

Smokey, a British house cat, has roared, or rather purred, her way into the Guinness Book of World Records. The New York Daily News reports that Smokey, a white tabby, can purr like a "lawnmower" at levels up to 73 decibels, 16 times louder than the average feline though a bit "softer" than blue whales, which are the loudest animals on earth with a low-frequency pulse of 188 decibels.
Sounds like this cat's purr is a lot bigger than, um, her paw?
The New York Daily News says that Smokey actually sounds more like a "cooing dove." As owner Ruth Adams writes on www.smokeythepurringcat.com, a website devoted to the "outspoken" feline:
Smokey is quite possibly the worlds loudest purring cat and is louder than a boeing 737 coming into land!
The only time purr-producing Smokey is quiet is when she is asleep. “She even manages to purr while she eats” comments owner Ruth.
It was back in February that Smokey first attracted notice after she won a local competition for "most powerful purr." A local community college submitted the results to Guinness and the rest is, yes, history. Smokey is now in the Guinness Book of World Records for having achieved the "loudest purr by a domestic cat at 67.7 dB (LA peak)."
