Kiruna is a small mining town in the north of Sweden. Recently the mining company, LKAB, discovered that the deformations zones created by the mining eventually will reach the town center.
To stop mining was just not an option since it is the livelyhood for a big part of the people living in Kiruna. Instead - during 2007 it was decided that the town would have to move.
In the effected area are some very important buildings like the church, the town hall and old historical houses with a big cultural value.
This film is about how Kiruna will go about moving the town and how the people are coping with it.

When America invaded Iraq in 2003, residents of border countries like Iran wondered what would happen to them if the US ever invaded. Some attribute the growing nuclear threat from Iran as a response to fears of a US lead invasion. In response to Iran's uranium enrichment program, the UN has imposed various economic sanctions. What does this all mean for residents living under these tense conditions?
Golboo Fiuzi, a young resident of Tehran, Iran, sounds off about her experiences living in constant fear, and what life is like now. She also talks to fellow Iranian citizens about why they think the US hasn't attached yet, their political views, opinions about globalization and their lives under UN imposed sanctions.

Turkey, with 70 million people, the majority of them being Muslim, has long been seen as a leading example of western values co-existing with Islam. To achieve that, Turkey has enforced an extreme separation of religion and government, even to the point of banning the wearing of the traditional Muslim headscarf by government employees and university students. But Turkey's new ruling party is headed by men whose wives wear headscarves and who are trying to roll back the ban on headscarves. Although they aren't proposing any other changes to Turkey's enforced secularism, the issue of the scarf has touched off a cultural war inside Turkey, one that could have a larger impact on how Islam and the West co-exist.Turkey, with 70 million people, the majority of them being Muslim, has long been seen... more

Each year, French film director Luc Besson organizes an open air film festival in several Parisian suburbs, places which are generally considered no-go areas, where cars are set on fire and ambulances get attacked... Last year Luc Besson convinced directors at the Cannes Festival to send him a copy of their brand new movies to screen them in the suburbs. Tarantino, Brad Pitt and others agreed. The people from the suburbs were incredibly happy to have those movies screened for free on the same day as the premiere in Cannes.
Journalists covering this festival were not allowed to collect pictures of burning cars, but had to ask people about the newest cinema releases... the event was a surprisingly strong political stament comming from a commercial movie producer as well as a huge success with over 60.000 spectators.
This year, the festival is held again in a slightly modified version and it's supposed to be even bigger...VC2 producer Philip Mayrhoffer will talk to Luc Besson and spectators to cover the event. Each year, French film director Luc Besson organizes an open air film festival in... more

Négritude is an ideology of black pride conceived in Paris during the 1920s and 30s. There is a resurgence of this philosophy and a new black consciousness in France, sparked by Barack Obama's nomination as the Democratic candidate for president of the United States. Race is still a taboo topic in France. So while Obama's nomination seems to transcend race, and AMerica is talking about a post-race society, the French are looking to open up conversation and policies that highlight racial differences.
We will take an in depth look at this new emerging culture and philosophy, and the debate between those who argue for an equal society and those who want to promote the communautaristique ideal to locate ethnic groups with specific needs and problems.Négritude is an ideology of black pride conceived in Paris during the 1920s and... more
