This film is a personal story made in memory of my friend Haza who was killed while we were together.
I was filming when one single bullet hit his heart, terminating his life forever and changing the lives of all those who knew him.
I managed to capture some footage of his death and in this film I am trying to show the journey of a bullet and the effect it leaves behind. It is a film to humanize those who are being killed by bullets so they are not seen only as numbers. This film is a personal story made in memory of my friend Haza who was killed while we... more

The fact that both callers and operators can remain anonymous, and in the comfort and safety of their own homes, means that phone sex can provide a unique arena for those wishing to indulge their taboo desires.

San Francisco is experimenting with gang injunctions as a way to curb violence across the city. While gang injunctions can vary from city to city and neighborhood, they generally involve restrictive curfews for adult gang members in city-designated "safety zones". While injunctions usually result in quick drops in crime, the long-term impact is nebulous at best.
As of June 2008, San Francisco City Attorney, Dennis Herrera, has installed 3 injunctions in the neighborhoods of Bayview, Fillmore and Mission, all predominantly people of color districts.
In the Mission district, San Francisco's largest Hispanic neighborhood, ex-gang members are organizing at a grassroots level to combat the root causes of gang membership while also organizing against the injunction. They complain that the injunction criminalizes youth, legalizes racial profiling, and does little to address the root causes of gang membership. The City Attorney has remained an aloof figure to them and an easy target of their anger and disappointment with the city.San Francisco is experimenting with gang injunctions as a way to curb violence across... more

Zouheir Alnajjar, a Collective Journalism contributor who lives in Gaza, takes us through the secret tunnels that connect Gaza and Egypt - a common route for smuggling under the border.
The tunnels beneath the Egyptian border have become a common way for Palestinians to attain items that they cannot due to the Israeli restrictions on imports into the Gaza Strip. Some of these items, like medicine or cigarettes, are relatively innocuous, but weapons and rocket parts are also smuggled through the tunnels, making them a target for Israel's IDF forces.
