Oil pushed above $117 yesterday after rebels in the Niger Delta attacked two major pipelines. Shell confirmed the attacks and an expected output loss of 169,000 barrels of oil per day. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, or MEND, claimed credit and in an email to reporters said it was a message to the United States to stop supporting "injustice" in the region.

There are 12 million people living unlawfully in the United States. In this episode of Vanguard," correspondent Mariana van Zeller explores the lives of two of them: a senior at UCLA named Ilse who crossed the border from Mexico in the trunk of a car at age 3 and a strawberry picker named Filemon who lives in an Oxnard flophouse with 19 other people so that he can send money back to his family in Oaxaca. In their stories, van Zeller finds testament to both the power of the American Dream and the absolute failure of American border policies.

Regina's Picks of the Week
Anthony Weiner's Leaked X-Rated Photo Adds Pressure for Resignation added by letsliveinpeace
The Anthony Weiner scandal has been hard on everyone. ...pun intended... From his leaked photos to the report that his wife is pregnant, it doesn't seem like he's going to find a way out of this mess. The whole situation has become sad and embarrassing for the randy Congressman. Some of you believe he should retain his office since he technically didn't have an affair, while others can't believe he didn't resign immediately. We'll have to wait and see what kind of news pops up. ;)
X Men: First Class Reviewed by Rotten Tomatoes
Summer has arrived, which means sequels, sequels, and more sequels!! Last weekend, I checked out my first summer blockbuster of the season: 'X Men: First Class'. I was delightfully surprised with the action, humor and sheer excitement! Check out Brett and Ellen's review of 'X Men: First Class' and don't miss out on the best origin movie of the year!
Robyn's Pick of the Week
Modern Lady: Toppling Pregnant in Heels
I loved this Modern Lady sketch on 'Mommy Concierges'. It's especially clear how far apart the line between rich and poor is now, when you compare the ridiculous outlay of money here the next story, in which people are struggling to keep a roof over their heads.
Homecoming Without A Home added by KB723
This story of a returning soldier who'll get to join the hordes of people now dealing with a foreclosure really broke my heart. But, you have to give some sort of props to Chase for making banks look even sleasier than usual.
No wrap up would be complete without adding a huge congrats to the team behind Rape on the Reservation for their recent win of the 2010 Livingston Award for young journalists. If you haven't seen it yet, it's very powerful. For a limited time you can view the full episode here.
