Do you fancy a jelly baby made from human DNA?
We may not have the appetite for human-derived gelatin but it has its health benefits, says Andrew Marszal.
Reports last week that researchers could be just six months away from producing the world’s first artificial meat, using thousands of stem cells bred in a laboratory, sent a wave of fascination around the world. Yet there is an even more ghoulish prospect ahead: the idea of eating artificial food made from humans.
This may sound like science fiction, yet a new technique for making gelatin from human DNA is attracting “increasing interest from research and industrial circles”, according to a new study by scientists from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The paper, published recently in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, revealed that successful experiments had been carried out in which human genes were inserted into a strain of yeast to “grow” large amounts of recombinant (genetically engineered) human gelatin.
Gelatin has a long history of use as a gelling agent by the food industry – and, according to the journal’s publisher, the American Chemical Society, human-derived gelatin “could become a substitute for some of the 300,000 tons of animal-based gelatin produced annually for desserts, marshmallows, candy and innumerable other products”.
There would be safety issues to consider. When an ice-cream parlour in London began selling flavours derived from human breast milk earlier this year, it was soon withdrawn for hygiene reasons. The Food Standards Agency said: “There would be a restriction on the sale or import of this type of product, because it would require a pre-market safety assessment.”
However, scientists do not believe that the new gelatin product would pose any risk. “There’s a very high degree of similarity between gelatin that comes from a cow, a pig, and a human,” explains Dr David Olsen, senior scientist at FibroGen, which specialises in recombinant gelatins. “So due to their similarities, I can’t see why there would be a health risk to it. It’s a very similar protein to what people have been ingesting for many years.”
In fact, human-derived gelatin is already in use by the pharmaceutical industry in the manufacture of certain pills and vaccines. The highly controlled production techniques of the laboratory offer a more consistent product than “traditional” gelatin, which is made from the bones and skin of pigs and cows. More broadly, human genes are used by pharmaceutical firms in the production of insulin for diabetics, human growth hormone, and erythropoietin, which is used to treat anaemia.
In fact, the Beijing University scientists believe their method offers many health advantages over animal-derived gelatin. Researchers from the Sapporo Medical University of Japan have reported an increase in allergic reactions to animal-derived gelatin in vaccines, but such a response to human material is less likely. Moreover, the risk of gelatin transmitting animal-borne diseases such as BSE would be eliminated.
It remains to be seen, however, whether there is an appetite for human protein among the wider public. Dr Gregory Kaebnick, of the US-based Hastings Center for bioethics and public policy, says the idea of human-derived gelatin “appears to raise the question of cannibalism”, even though such concerns may be misplaced. “The gelatin is not derived from human tissue in the same way that animal gelatin is,” he says. “It’s really derived from yeast – yeast that have been modified with genetic sequences found in human beings.”
This difference may help remove the taboo borne by human-derived food products. “You really wouldn’t see it or recognise it,” says Dr Olsen. “It would almost be part of whatever the food is, and you wouldn’t notice the difference.”
Either way, it won’t appear in the organic aisle any time soon.

Does Quantum Physics Prove God?
This conversation sheds clarity on a very confused notion in the area of spirituality today—namely, the “tao of physics” and all its variations, as exemplified by the recent film What the Bleep. So what relationship, if any, does God actually have with quantum physics?

John Hagelin, Ph.D on Consciousness
John Hagelin, Ph.D., is a world-renowned quantum physicist, educator, public policy expert, and leading proponent of peace.
Dr. Hagelin received his A.B. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University, and conducted pioneering research at CERN (the European Center for Particle Physics) and SLAC (the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center). His scientific contributions in the fields of electroweak unification, grand unification, super-symmetry and cosmology include some of the most cited references in the physical sciences. He is also responsible for the development of a highly successful Grand Unified Field Theory based on the Superstring. Dr. Hagelin is therefore at the pinnacle of achievement among the elite cadre of physicists who have fulfilled Einstein’s dream of a “theory of everything” through their mathematical formulation of the Unified Field—the most advanced scientific knowledge of our time.
But Dr. Hagelin is unique among scientists in being the first to apply this most advanced knowledge for the practical benefit of humankind. He has pioneered the use of Unified Field-based technologies proven to reduce crime, violence, terrorism, and war and to promote peace throughout society—technologies derived from the ancient Vedic science of consciousness. He has published groundbreaking research establishing the existence of long-range “field effects” of consciousness generated through collective meditation, and has shown that large meditating groups can effectively defuse acute societal stress—thereby preventing violence and social conflict, and providing a practical foundation for permanent world peace.
For the last quarter century, Dr. Hagelin has led an international investigation into the nature and origin of consciousness, including higher states of human consciousness. In his seminal book, Manual for a Perfect Government, Dr. Hagelin shows how, through educational programs that develop human consciousness, and through policies and programs that effectively harness the laws of nature, it is possible to solve and to prevent acute social problems, and to profoundly enhance governmental achievements.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Hagelin was named winner of the prestigious Kilby Award, which recognizes scientists who have made “major contributions to society through their applied research in the fields of science and technology.” The award recognized Dr. Hagelin as “a scientist in the tradition of Einstein, Jeans, Bohr and Eddington.”John Hagelin, Ph.D., is a world-renowned quantum physicist, educator, public policy... more-

The Cosmos + Sacred Geometry
We could be living in a small Universe where space is curved in on itself, rather like a football, say researchers in this week's Nature journal.
Leonardo da Vinci had the right idea
More precisely, we may inhabit a dodecahedral cosmos. It is, according to the scientists, the best way to account for the latest satellite observations.
Dodecahedrons, and similar shapes, have long fascinated mankind. Plato believed that the Universe was made up of them.
Leonardo da Vinci also studied them, as did the great astronomer Kepler, who thought the structure of the Solar System was based on geometrical shapes.
Further observations, especially from space probes yet to be launched, may settle the matter, and may at last reveal the hidden geometry of the Universe.
Ripples in the sky
The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation, the "echo" of the Big Bang, contains a wealth of data about the early history of the Universe, as well as its large-scale structure.
If only we had precise enough observations of it to discriminate between competing ideas of what the Universe is like.
The scientists were writing in Nature magazine
Will it expand forever? Is space infinite? Such profound questions may have their answers in the CMB.
Specifically, the answers may be found in the ripples in the CMB - miniscule, regular, fluctuations in its strength over the sky.
Data from the US space agency's Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), which maps the CMB, suggests that at the very largest scales its temperature fluctuations seen across the sky are smaller than would be produced by an infinite Universe.
It seems the WMAP data shows the Universe is too small for large fluctuations to be seen in the microwave background radiation.
Positively curved space sections
Astronomers from the US and France suggest that space itself is not big enough to support such waves. A small, cosmologically speaking, finite Universe, however, made of curved pentagons joined together into a sphere, would fit the observations.
The answer could be in the CMB
Writing a commentary in Nature, George Ellis of the University of Cape Town, says we live in a Universe "with positively curved space sections and a non-standard topology".
Indeed, a dodecahedral Universe, were you able to traverse it, would have some interesting properties. If you went out to the edge of the dodecahedron, you would come back in through the opposite face.
More precise observations made by WMAP and by its successor, the Planck satellite, to be launched in 2007, will tell scientists if the cosmos does have such a shape, or if it is even stranger.

Telepathy & the Gifts of the Spirit
Professor Sidney B. Lang, of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, and Drs. Simon Baconnier and Rene de Seze of the National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks in France, have recently discovered the presence of new micro-Crystals that are forming in our pineal gland. This is a process mainstream science is calling biomineralization.
These scientists have docu-mented that the micro-Crystals have piezo-electric properties with excitability in the frequency range of mobile telecommunications.
They theorize that the interaction of these Crystals with Global System for Mobile Telecommunications (GSM) waves could con-stitute a new mechanism of transduction on the pineal membrane. GSM is a digital technology that enables up to eight telephone conver sations to be held on the same channel, simultaneously.[i]
Modern science has labeled the cerebrum of our brain ‘the sleeping giant’. But the cerebrum is actually the centre of electro-magnetic resonating power. It is through this centre that all spiritual awareness occurs.
Furthermore, as the master control center in the brain, the pituitary gland is our negative contact point. It acts as a receiver, which enables information to be placed in the cerebrum. The pineal gland is our positive contact point. It acts as a neuro-endocrine transducer, which transmits infor mation as signals that direct the pituitary gland by way of the hypothalamus gland.[ii]
The cerebral cortex gathers information for our various levels of communication. Within it are cells with the ability to convert electro-magnetic frequencies into electrical currents. In other words, they function as liquid Crystals. As a result, if we ‘still’ the cerebral cortex, we can use telepathy to connect with the higher dimensions of consciousness.
"The human body is literally a gigantic liquid Crystal." Dr. Robert O. Becker, MD
In Hindu traditions, the pineal gland is associated with our extra-sensory third ‘eye’ through which per-ception of the world is not limited to the physical senses.
The activation of these Crystals in our pineal gland is advancing us toward ourmulti-dimensional aware-ness and telepathic abilities. It is the next step in our evolution.
"A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them." Matthew 7:18-20
When God’s cosmic energy collides with the current Earth grid, it is absorbed by our pineal gland in such a way as to create the illusion of linear Time and Space – a 3D reality. But the new Earth grid, which will be activated in 2012, will allow our brains to absorb at least two more octaves of these Light waves through our pineal gland. A new receptor will then grow in order to accommodate for the added Light waves. This will produce an additional dimensional experience and dramatically transform our reality.[iii]
"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them." 1 Corinthians 2:14

Mind over matter: Human aura proved by Russian Scientists
A Russian scientist is trying to convince people they can change the world simply by using their own energy. He claims that thinking in a certain way can have a positive or negative effect on the surrounding environment. "We are developing the idea that our consciousness is part of the material world and that with our consciousness we can directly influence our world," said Dr. Konstantin Korotkov, a professor of physics at St. Petersburg State Technical University.

Humans can Back Up their Brains by year 2030!
Imagine being able to backup all your memories, images you have seen, sounds you had heard – all to a Blu-Ray disc and storing them for eternity? Well a researcher claims that this will be possible in the next 20 years! The Daily Mail reported that Raymond Kurzweil who is known for a lot of work with voice recognition technology told guests at a ”future talk” even in Vienna that human brain back was technically possible and that we already possess the technology to make that a possibility.
Not just that, Kurzweil also said that by the next twenty years, thousands of nanobot computers will be in our blood healing our bodies and improving our performance. These same machines will also be able to collect and backup all content in our brains!

Cosmic energy and Healing
In the year 1930, an English Physician named Dr. Edward Bach, gave up his lucrative medical practice in London to devote the rest of his life to finding what he believed to be a system of ‘energy medicine’.
Dr. Bach’s research eventu-ally led him to develop a process with which he could extract the electro-magnetic pattern of a flower while it was in bloom. He discovered that, like the plant from which they spring forth, flowers have a vibrational component. But, because the flower is a plant’s crowning achievement, its essence carries its highest vibrational frequency.
Unlike homeopathic medicine, which works directly on the physical body, the electro-magnetic frequency patterns of Energy Medicine work on consciousness. Our consciousness uses these properties to stimulate our physical body. And the higher our consciousness is raised, the purer our mind, body and Spirit become.
Dr. Barbara Brennan, Ph.D, is a Physicist with a Masters Degree in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a former Research Scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. In 1970, she began researching and working with the human energy body, the aura.
Twelve years later, Dr. Brennan established a school of healing, which draws on both scientific and metaphysical sources to combine the aspects of the human experience that explain the process of healing. Her school is licensed by the Florida Department of Education to grant Bachelor of Science degrees in holistic healthcare. She also operates schools in Austria and Japan, both of which are specialized institutes for personal transformation.[ii]
Five hundred years before Christ some physicians of ancient India… advanced the art of healing to so perfect a state that they were able to abolish surgery. Dr. Edward Bach, MD
Dr. Alberto Villoldo,Ph.D, is Psychologist and Medical Anthropologist who founded the Biological Self-Regulation Laboratory at San Francisco State University, where he studied mind-body medicine and the neuro-physiology of healing.
He left his practice long ago and spent twenty-five years in the Amazon and in the Andes Mountains, in training as a shaman – a medicine man. He is the first anthro pologist in America to make contact with the religious leaders of the Inca tribes who live in the Andes at elevations of over 5000 meters. In his book Mending the Past and Healing the Future, Dr. Villoldo writes that the traditions of the Earth peoples in the Americas, Tibet, Australia and in sub-saharan Africa understand the ways of Energy Medicine. He describes how the Inca shamans use a five-thousand year old spiritual form of this medicine to work with the human energy body.If you cut your thumb, cell division is accelerated at 1000 times its normal rate and continues until your skin grows back to exactly the same level at which it was originally. It is the blueprint of the energy body that ensures that the regrowth does not change or alter your thumb print.[iii]
The most beautiful and most profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the Mystical. It is the sower of all true Science. Albert Einstein
The energy body that surrounds the physical body has many layers, the first of which is the etheric layer. This subtle layer of energy connects the physical body to the higher dimensional outer layers by way of tubes called nadis.
These nadis correspond with the nerves in the physical body. Wherever two or more nadis intersect, there exists an energy center, or Chakra. There are three main nadis in the etheric layer. One of these corresponds with the spine and relates to the energy of the kundalini.
Our energy bodies receive God’s cosmic energy when our brain is in a state of deep sleep or meditation.

3 step to a Smater, Healthier You
Yoga + Exercise + Nature = Smarter, Healthier You
For the past year yoga has revolutionized my life and my body. It has helped me overcome stress, find inner peace, and focus on what is important in my life. Yoga is about respecting, honoring, and understanding the balance between your mind, your body, and your soul. I know I don’t do any exercise in the morning, I won’t be productive during the day. And I know if I don’t exercise during the day I will find it harder to fall asleep at night. Another part of my happiness comes from the outdoors. I can’t be inside for too long. It drains me of Prana which is the sanskrit word for vital life energy. I have to exercise and do yoga outside to reap the true benefits. The reason is because the energy of life given off by the earth, the trees, the air, and the sun is more prominent outside. If you have consistently practiced yoga outside, I know you can feel the difference. A building made of stone does not carry much energy within because it is mainly dead. Interestingly enough, Science is catching up to the wisdom of the Eastern Yogi’s as the art of yoga/exercise experience a renaissance.
There are three steps.
One: do Yoga
Recent research suggests that twenty-minute workout sessions that combine yoga and tai chi can increase your heart rate, reduce your anxiety, and sharpen your math skills. Such were the findings of a 2010 study in which 38 adults participated in a twenty-minute workout session that include ten minutes of tai chi movement and ten minutes of sitting, standing, and lying down yoga poses. The researchers measured the heart rate, brain wave activity, self-reported anxiety index, and math computation skills of each participant before and after the workout session. The results showed that the participants experienced a moderate increase in their heart rates and the theta activity in their brains. Furthermore, the participants reported reduced anxiety and solved basic math problems with increased speed and accuracy after the workout.
Two: Exercise Outside
Just five minutes of exercise in a “green space” such as a park can boost mental health. There is growing evidence that combining activities such as walking or cycling with nature boosts well-being. In the latest analysis, UK researchers looked at evidence from 1,250 people in 10 studies and found fast improvements in mood and self-esteem. The study in the Environmental Science and Technology journal suggested the strongest impact was on young people.
Three: Meditate
New research shows that even a small amount of meditation can help grow important brain fibers. An international research team from China and the University of Oregon found that only 11 hours of a specific type of meditation, integrative body-mind training (IBMT), increases brain tracts connecting the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) to other brain structures.
The ACC is part of the “emotional brain” that detects conflicting messages and then connects areas in the brain to suggest the next appropriate action. Increased connectivity of this problem-solving area to other brain regions helps regulate emotions and behavior. Growing more fibers is a good thing, because the more connections the ACC has, the more possible solutions and responses can be made. An inactive ACC with less connections has been associated with attention deficit disorder, tobacco addiction, depression, dementia, and other mental health disorders. For these reasons, increasing the activity and connectivity of the ACC may be a useful mental health treatment.
Proving the Point
Meditation and yoga really do provide therapeutic benefits by making physical and conscious changes in our brain and bodies. Meditation helps the different parts of our brain to work together to problem solve in difficult situations. Even small amounts of meditation and exercise can provide beneficial brain growth. Meditation and yoga is not just about stress reduction anymore, but about how can our brains respond better emotionally and behaviorally.Yoga + Exercise + Nature = Smarter, Healthier You For the past year yoga has... more-

How to save the World
When trying to save the world, it helps to put things into a larger perspective by thinking about civilizations that may have already confronted these problems. In particular, astrophysicists, when we try to find evidence for life in outer space, rank possible civilizations that are more advanced than ours according to their energy consumption:
A. A Type I civilization is truly planetary, using up all the energy from their sun which lands on their planet. They might, for example, be able to control all forms of planetary energy, such as controlling the weather and the power of hurricanes and volcanoes.
B. A Type II civilization has mastered stellar power, using up all the energy released from their mother star. They use up 10 billion times more energy than a Type I civilization. A typical example might be the Federation of Planets in Star Trek, which has harnessed the energy from only a tiny sliver of the stars in the Milky Way galaxy.
C. A Type III civilization is galactic, harnessing 10 billions more energy than a Type II civilization. They roam freely across the galactic space lanes. A typical example might be the Borg on Star Trek, or the Empire of the Star Wars series, or the Empire of Asimov’s Foundation Series.
By comparison, what are we? Do we control the weather, play with stars, or harness the power of an entire galaxy? We are, sadly, a Type 0 civilization. We don’t even appear on the radar screen. We get our energy from dead plants, oil and coal.
But we can calculate how long it will take to slowly work our way up this energy scale. Assume that the world’s energy consumption grows at roughly 3% per year. At this rate, we are about 100 years from attaining Type I status, about several thousand years from attaining Type II status, and perhaps 100,000 years or so from attaining Type III status.
For example, I see evidence of this in every newspaper I read. To me, every headline points to the birth pangs of the emerging Type I planetary civilization:
The language of this future Type I planetary civilization will be English, which is already the language of the elites around the world.
The EU, NAFTA, and global trade blocks represent the seeds of a Type I economy.
The internet is the beginning of a Type I telephone system.
Rock music, youth culture, high fashion, the movies, etc. all represent the beginning of a Type I culture.
But some people instinctively hate this emerging Type I civilization, because it will be multi-cultural, progressive, and scientific. These are the terrorists.
How stable are these civilizations? By the time a civilization reaches Type II status, they are immortal. Nothing known to science can destroy these civilizations. Ice ages can be controlled, meteor or comets can be deflected, and they can even survive the death of their mother star by moving their planet or re-igniting their star.
But of all these transitions, the most dangerous of all is the transition between Type 0 and Type I. We still have all the savagery, sectarianism, racism, fundamentalist, etc. that typified our rise from the swamp. So it is not clear at all whether we will rise to a Type I civilization. I think it’s a race against time. On one hand, we have the march towards a planetary civilization, perhaps the greatest transition in human history. On the other hand, we have urgent problems like nuclear proliferation, global warming, designer germ warfare, pollution, over population, etc. that threatened the very survival of the planet.
It’s not clear which trend will win. But there is a lesson here. By rights, our galaxy should be teeming with intelligent life forms, yet we see no evidence of any so far, perhaps because they never successfully made the transition to Type I. One day, perhaps if ever visit these planets, we might find dead civilizations with an atmosphere too hot to bear life, or an atmosphere too radioactive for life.
But one thing is certain. The generation now alive is the most important generation that has ever walked the earth. This is because we will decide whether we will truly become a Type I civilization, or will descend into chaos and disorder. There have been about 5,000 generations of humans since we emerged from Africa about 100,000 years ago, and the most important generation is the one now alive, since we hold the destiny of civilization in our hands.
Dr. Kaku is the creator of String Theory and has amazing vision and understanding of this world and what is to come. When trying to save the world, it helps to put things into a larger perspective by... more-

How 2 Grow Architecture
Is it possible to create live architecture capable of regenerating itself just like live organisms do? That was the question I had to ask myself one morning after I awoke from the most amazing dream. I dreamed that I planted a seed. And this seed proceeded to grow into a house. I lived in a tree house. Literally. I never thought in my wildest dreams that the idea could come to fruition so quickly.
Thanks to her studies, vision, and ambition, Rachel Armstrong has made this idea more realistic. In fact, by using architecture that grows itself, Armstrong believes that we will be able to save Venice, Italy from sinking.
Rachel Armstrong has devised a way to bring architecture and biology together. She believes that it is possible to create chemically engineered building materials that can grow, self-repair, and respond to changes. These materials, Armstrong believes, could even be used to save Venice, Italy, one of humanity’s most beautiful cities which is slowing sinking in the ocean.
Armstrong refers to the current method of architecture as “old” and “Victorian”; inert objects such as concrete are used to construct our buildings and homes. While this may not seem problematic to most people, Armstrong does not consider this method sustainable. Instead, architecture should be connected to the natural world, and communicate with living matter. Since these materials do not naturally exist in nature, Armstrong is working to generate them from scratch. She researches “metabolic materials”, which are construction materials that possess some of the properties of living systems, and can be manipulated to “grow” architecture. These materials would be able to respond to changes in the environment and adapt accordingly.
Protocells, which are basically fatty bags containing no DNA and run by a chemical battery, are able to conduct themselves in a way that can only be described as living. They are able to move around their environments, undergo complex reactions, and follow chemical gradients. Using the protocell technology, Armstrong hopes to create sustainable, metabolic materials. Although this technology will take years to create and perfect, hopefully these materials will be used to save dying cities.
Venice, Italy is built upon wooden piles that have eroded over many years. As the beautiful city continues to sink, Armstrong hopes that the protocell technology will be able to reclaim the city by growing a limestone reef around the piles. These cells would be used for reinforcement purposes instead of just creating a reef in the canals.
Not only does this technology seem plausible, it would be a great innovation for architecture. Now more than ever we stress the idea of being as eco-friendly and “green” as possible; what better way to connect with nature than with this technology? It is our duty to try to salvage historical cities, and metabolic materials may very well be the answer to our problems. Furthermore, as our world becomes more technologically and scientifically advanced, it should seem reasonable to update some of our older practices as well.

Trending this week: Capitalism is a joke.
A leading economist has likened the nation’s acceptance of free-market capitalism to that of the brainwashed characters in the film The Matrix, unwitting pawns in a fake reality. In a controversial new book, the Cambridge economist Ha-Joon Chang debunks received wisdom on everything from the importance of the internet to the idea that people in the United States enjoy the highest standard of living in the world; an iconoclastic attitude that has won him fans such as Bob Geldof and Noam Chomsky.
Dr Chang’s 23 Things They Don’t Tell You About Capitalism is one of a spate of tomes published in recent weeks that question the future of the current system, including Capitalism 4.0 by Anatole Kaletsky, and Ian Bremmer’s The End of the Free Market. Economists are keen to tap into the market for popular books on seemingly impenetrable subjects – highlighted by the runaway success of Freakonomics, which has sold more than four million copies since it was published in 2005 and is about to be made into a film.
South-Korean born Dr Chang aims to disprove what he sees as economic myths, including the idea that people are paid what they are worth, that the “trickle down” effect of increasing wealth among the rich helps the poor, and that education makes countries more prosperous.
One of the modern idols Dr Chang seeks to bring down is the internet. He claims that we overestimate the importance of new technologies compared to older inventions – such as the washing machine – and criticises the way in which internet access has been seen as key to countries’ development.
“If you had everything, then I’m in favour of it. But when children don’t have safe drinking water and free school meals, is it really important?” he said. “We have a fascination with the new, and we have to be careful not to project our own vision on to other people’s lives.”

Star Trek coming to your everyday life VERY soon!
SCIENTISTS TELEPORT INFO 10 MILES
A new report by Chinese scientists shows that it is possible to transmit information over long distances using quantum entanglement. The research, published in the current issue of the journal Nature Photonics, could lead to faster and smaller quantum-based computers and unbreakable, encrypted communication across the world.
The team reported they were able to “teleport” information 16 kilometers, or 9.9 miles.
“This is the longest reported distance over which photonic teleportation has been achieved to date, more than 20 times longer than the previous implementation,” said Cheng-Zhi Peng, one of the co-authors of the study and a scientist at University of Science and Technology of China and Tsinghua University in Beijing.
In science fiction, teleportation usually describes the transfer of matter from one point to another, more or less instantaneously. In real physics, it’s considered part of the “spookier” aspects of quantum mechanics (as Einstein famously derided the nascent field), that describes the behavior of the atoms and their constituent particles.
According to the theory, bits of light and matter can become entangled with one another and anything that happens to one particle will happen to the other, regardless of the distance or intervening matter. What the Chinese scientists managed to do was transmit change-of-state information from photon to photon over a distance of 16 kilometers.
IS STAR TREK’S TRACTOR BEAM POSSIBLE?
Building a tractor beam in the lab may sound a little far-fetched, but physicists at the Australian National University have announced that they’ve built a device capable of transporting small glass particles — one hundred times the size of a bacterium — one and a half meters across a laboratory desk without touching them (pictured top). This is a huge advance considering existing “optical tweezers” can only push particles the size of a bacterium few millimeters in liquid.
How is this achieved?
In the Star Trek universe, spaceships use a “graviton beam emitter” to create a graviton interference pattern that can be manipulated to grab onto other sub-warp-speed space objects (I’ll get onto warp speed later). Alas, gravitons are hypothetical quantum particles in ouruniverse, and the Australian researchers certainly can’t use them in their lab experiment.
Instead, they’ve built a “hollow laser” that can trap small objects inside and manipulate them.
This 21st technology creates a very thin tube of laser light with a dark core. When the glass particles are placed inside the cool core, they are kept there by the laser-heated air. Should the particles drift in any direction, they are pushed back to the center by the hot cushioning air molecules.
Energy from Solar Wind
Never mind using the solar wind to power spacecraft — that’s old hat. Scientists at Washington State University want to use solar wind to power the entire world. A humongous solar sail could be used to harvest the power of solar winds, generating 1 billion billion gigawatts of electricity. The problem is figuring out how to get the power back to Earth.
A solar wind power satellite, or a Dyson-Harrop satellite, after the scientists who invented it, would provide 100 billion times as much power as the Earth currently uses, as Discovery News points out. Researchers from Washington State University published a paper describing the system in the International Journal of Astrobiology.
It involves a .4-inch-wide copper wire pointed at the sun, and attached to a solar sail. The wire — which can range in length from 980 feet to more than half a mile — would generate a magnetic field that would capture electrons from the solar wind. The particles would be funneled into a spherical receiver, which produces a current.
Disc-Shaped Balloon could transport whole buildings to remote areas
Australian aeronautical firm Skylifter has come up with a better way to transport heavy equipment to remote areas that are beyond the reach of railways, roads and runways – a flying saucer.
This 150 meter-wide disc shaped balloon would be capable of carrying 150 tons, an increase of 700 percent from the maximum 20 tons able to be lifted by existing heavy transport helicopters. Its design provides for more stability – with its flatter profile, it acts less like a sail, making it less susceptible to winds during flights of up to 1240 miles. The disc also behaves as a parachute during descent, ensuring a gentle landing, while the low-hanging control pod keeps it from being too top-heavy.

Evolve
as featured on mattovermatter.com
EVOLVE
Evolution is a term to define only one organism and that’s the self. The self is the universe, the self is the alpha and omega, god, and infinity, and that’s the only thing that evolves because we are all part of the self. Nothing goes through an evolutionary process alone or without direct benefit to the whole. So when you begin to think that there’s this controlling elite, this controlling hand behind the curtains leading the planet to destruction….when you think the end is near, the apocalypse, Armageddon, and when you think we as a species are doomed, it is not they, it is you that brought this about, and for very good reason. You are evolving. Stop blaming everybody and everything else. Quit panicking about global tyranny and natural disaster and pay attention, because the world is telling you something: it’s telling you what is wrong with you and how to fit it. All is one::One is All.
HOMO EMPATHICUS
Humanity is entering into a new stage of evolution -A stage where we recognize the world as one organism, one being. Or a stage where we choose madness and destruction. I like the positive view. Here is a video by Jeremy Rifkin wherein he describes the evolutionary changes we must make as humankind to choose the path of life, enlightenment, and revolution:

Do you think we’re evolving? Do you think we need to evolve? Let me know.
Curious? about mirror neurons. Here’s a another source:

the Renaissance of medicine
the Lord created medicines out of the earth and a wise man will not abhor them ~Ecclesiastes
Street drugs are revolutionizing the way science looks at disease. As we speak studies are underway across the globe to understand the amazing powers of these drugs hold. And while mainstream society terms them drugs, I believe the correct terms are medicinal herbs or healing plants. These are medicines that come from the divine. They grow under the ground on which we walk. For example, marijuana come from the Cannabis plant. LSD is created from the LSD-60 compound found in the morning glory flower. Magic mushrooms grow naturally in nature. Ibogaine is derived from Iboga, a rainforest shrub. These medicines are sacred and help us heal.
Army Veterans are taking Ecstasy to treat their PTSD
In a study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology the drug MDMA commonly known as Ecstasy has shown that the drug when combined with Psychotherapy can cure, can CURE post-traumatic stress disorder in army veterans returning from war. An excerpt from Medicinenet.com is as follows:
“PTSD treatment involves revisiting the trauma in a therapeutic setting, but many patients become overwhelmed by anxiety or numb themselves emotionally, and so they can’t really successfully engage,” said study lead researcher Dr. Michael Mithoefer, a psychiatrist in private practice in Charleston, S.C. “But what we found is that the MDMA seemed to temporarily decrease fear without blunting emotions, and so it helped patients better process their grief.”
Psychedelic Drugs are Back
Doctors at top hospitals and universities in Canada, the U.S. and abroad are experimenting with LSD, MDMA (“ecstasy”) and psilocybin, the hallucinogenic compound in “magic mushrooms,” as treatments for, variously, tobacco addiction, cluster headaches, obsessive-compulsive disorder and suicidal thoughts — as well as anxiety and depression in people with end-stage cancer.
Other research is being conducted with the prescription sedative ketamine, known on the street as “Special K.”
Doctors are testing these drugs because effective treatments either don’t exist or simply don’t work for some patients. “It’s basically an unmet need in medicine,” says Dr. Pierre Blier, Canada Research Chair in Psychopharmacology at the University of Ottawa.
He’s been conducting pilot studies with ketamine which have so far proven successful with the severely depressed who might otherwise be subjected to electroconvulsive — or shock — treatments.
LSD and Ecstasy fight cancer anxiety and PTSD
Hallucinogenic drugs including LSD and Ecstasy are being used by doctors in tests to treat conditions including cancer anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Scientists are once again striving to prove that psychedelic drugs can be of medical benefit more than four decades after authorities clamped down on their use for both recreational and research purposes.
There are a handful of studies currently taking place across the U.S. with drugs like LSD, MDMA (Ecstasy) and psilocybin, the main ingredient of ‘magic mushrooms’.
While the research is still preliminary, early results from a New York University study suggest that participants are less fearful of death and have less general anxiety. They are also said to have greater acceptance of the dying process with no major side effect.
Magic Mushrooms ease Cancer Anxiety
A study from the Archives of General Psychiatry found benefits from the use of psilocybin in treating anxiety and depression common with stage 4 cancer.
Late-stage cancer patients given a moderate single dose of psilocybin were less anxious and significantly less depressed six months later, compared with patients given a placebo.
Ibogaine ends Addiction
I wrote previously how Ibogaine can cure addiction in individuals. This psychedelic plant has brought upon the creation of clinics in Canada, Europe, Mexico, and Latin America. It works however it is illegal in the United States. Charles Shaw, the author of Exile Nation, expounds on one of many gems from his book during his investigation into the healing powers of Ibogaine:
here’s how the miracle works. The conventional approach to treating opiate addiction is to employ a substitution therapy like methadone or suboxone, maintenance drugs that keep the addict addicted to a less potent, more manageable opiate analog. This means that the only available treatment does not actually stop the addiction. So what’s the point?
Ibogaine works, it is believed, by filling in the receptor sites that the opiate molecules once sought, ending the craving for the drug, while at the same time metabolizing in the liver into noribogaine, which is thought to have powerful detoxifying and anti-depressant properties. The million dollar jackpot is that ibogaine can eliminate the exceedingly painful and dangerous opiate withdrawal process, sometimes in a single dose. In effect, it has the power to hit the reset button on the brain’s neurotransmitter mechanism.
