Jokshan Anthony Simpson born on December 8th 1992 in West London, United Kingdom is better known by his stage name Jay Artiist the Singer/Songwriter/Rapper.
Jokshan Anthony Simpson (Jay Artiist) was Raised in a broken home.
Jay did not have aspirations to have a music career as a child due to his shyness and his lack of confidence, saying "Singing wasn't a reality for me" until other people started noticing how good he sounded.
Jay recognised his vocal abilities at the age of 13 during a music class, when he was sent to do an assignment which was writing and performing his own song. Reluctant to sing, he began performing with encouragement by classmates, friends and family whilst in secondary school, Leading up to being chosen to perform live on stage with the "Gorillas" at the Brit Awards in 2006 along side Big names such as Kanye West and Chris Brown (one of his biggest achievements to date).
During the years Jays confidence has grown and the once shy boy who couldn't sing infront of people has turned into a man who sings to strangers at a local supermarket.
Since then Jay Artiist has been described as the future sound of R&B bringing a new vibe to the music industry. He is currently working on becoming the big music artist he knows he can be and hopes to achieve his dreams in the very near future.
In the words of Jay Artiist, "I want to break boundaries creating new paths for the UK in the music industry, showing that you can be from any background, have the odds against you and still be able to become anything you want to be."
Jay Artiist is determined to make his path in the music industry. Keep an eye out for him in the near future.

Last night I dreamed of paper trails
Dolls without faces joined infinitely with fingerless arms
Blank as the air was dead and sound is chasing the stillness all around
Is choking the vibrations
Beady little tales of sewing needles and ball of string
Tear them apart and make them sing
Of sewing needles and ball of string
My useless heart, a wedding ring
Apologies are boring and they’re trite
But if desired, I will see what I can find
- Emmy the Great, Paper Trails
Emmy-Lee Moss was born and raised in Shanghai until she was 12, when she moved to London -- the homeland of her English father. I stumbled upon her music in pure luck, and am so completely glad I did. She is folksy and cute, her lyrics are creative and sweet, and often laced with delicious, scrumptious sarcasm. I discovered that she used to sing for the group, Lightspeed Champion (whose song “Stay the Fuck Away From Me” [caution: questionable and potentially obviously offensive lyrics] was a bit of an anthem for me last year…) which bodes well for both her sense of humor and the company she keeps.
“I wanted to be a backing singer and I wanted to have something to hand to people… ‘Emmy’ is a name they called me at university, which I hated, and ‘the Great’ I added on because I hated ‘Emmy’ so much.”
After some inspection and a little (only a little) stalking, I discovered that not only is she charismatic and talented, but also absolutely adorable.
Her face makes me want bangs, her style makes me want cowboy clothes, and her songs make me want a billion boyfriends to break up with and write about.
I’ve been listening to her for only about a week (I only discovered she existed last Wednesday!), but I know I am hooked. NPR calls Emmy “anti-folk”, which has long since been a genre I have followed… but could never describe. Regina Spektor falls under the same category, which I think I understand, but it still will never give me a clear idea of the concept of “anti-folk.”
Then again, I recently heard a quote (I wish I could remember where from) that said something along the lines of, “Folk music is not about the content, nor the sound, but how it is learned.” I like that better than the idea of whatever “anti-folk” is supposed to mean. And I like Emmy the Great even more than that.

Chase Reason
http://www.chicagomusicpromotions.com/chasereason
Label : Independent - Unsigned Artist
Genre : Hiphop
Contact - chasereason@gmail.com
Who: Chase Reason is a person that views music as a source of expression rather than simply putting words over a beat. “Chase: If it’s not from the inside then it’s not real music...” Growing up in a number of high risk neighborhoods in Toronto, He is no stranger to the reality of the streets, and the vicious toll they can take if one chooses to be consumed by that beast. Chase: Music is what stopped me from making many tempting decisions, so if I can make music for others to help them out in their lives, and help them become better at recognizing risks, then it’s a win-win…”
What: An artist, not just another rapper. As a writer, co-producer, and artists in the areas of Soft Rock, R&B and Hip-hop, Chase is very well rounded. He views himself as simply a “Song Designer” rather than all of these separate titles. Chase is usually involved in a song from the conception of the beat all the way to the final mixing and mastering Process. “Chase: This improves the quality of the music…” At many times, Chase will simply come up with a song in his head, without any sort of pre-production. “Chase: I don’t know where it comes from, it just happens, and I can hear the instrumental and everything at once…”
“The world needs an artist, not just another rapper.”
Where: Chase is ready to begin with home City Toronto, but has already completed collaborations with artists in Chicago and New York. This speaks volumes to the commitment that chase has to the craft. “Chase: A lot of people take Promotional blogs for granted, these are the vehicles that allow new artists a chance to be heard.
Why: With music at a revolutionary point, there is no better timing for an artist like Chase. A lot of people are losing faith in real music and with that we have seen a culture which is reluctant to buy albums because there is no actual faith in the artist’s talent beyond their single. Chase recognizes this gap and believes we need to go back to packaging pictures and stories of our lives in some type of order. There must be a flow to the overall body of the work rather than just a bunch of material slapped together.
How: Chase has a line-up of music ready to take off. He understands that people need to trust the artist before they can take a chance. “Chase: it’s like a relationship, if you show the fans that you can be trusted, they will stand behind you and trust you…Chase Reason

Chicago Music Promotions started out in 2006 to promote Independent and Unsigned Musicians and Bands in the midwest region and in chicago for consumers and potential music fans to listen to new music. Since the site has been available to the general public we have added Club DJS and also as well Record Labels to the site so the site gets tons of traffic from all over the united states and world. The site is free for music fans and consumers however talent does have to pay a small fee for marketing and promotions and to be on a professional media network (non of that myspace crap).

Independent Music is the fire for the Music Industry most of these signed artists were also Independent at 1 time, no one is just sucked out of the air and all of a sudden is a musician or band that is signed by a major label. I find it funny that most of the world survives on mainstream radio or mainstream radio news to find new music. There is tons of talent out there who has great music but you have to search for the music online to find most of this great music.
Also Most Independent Musicians & Bands wont sue you for downloading there music or even sharing it with your friends they want the music to be heard, downloaded, and given out to other people to hear that is what turns them into something major. Most Musicians and bands are starting to realize that they make money from Event Sales, and also selling there cds at events since the digital era is too massive, they understand music will be given out and traded and other things so usually they will "leak" out a few songs for people to rip and seed on the internet for public use.
Not saying the musicians or bands or even record label should not get paid however i do think the major record labels have taken the digital era a bit too much by the horns and they need to relax on there whole mp3 pirate issue or digital download issue. There has been so many people brought up on charges for downloading music and also some people have got massive fines where they range in the millions of dollars (yet how the hell are they going to pay for that?). Its a scare tactic by the major recording industry.
I have worked with many of Independent Musicians and Bands and its almost a requirement for them to be on my music site to have at least 2 free downloads for consumers to download and share with there friends, They do not have to be the #1 hit track or anything but something where the consumer feels happy about learning about this band or musician and also can enjoy the music from the talent without having a feeling they might get sued and or brought up on charges. You all should check out more independent music and keep real music alive that is not funded by major record labels.

Stop your bitching about how there are no good albums and nowhere with a conscience to buy them. April 17 -- this Saturday -- is Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent music stores.
As an independent media company, we're all about supporting our like-minded independent establishments. Not only did we sign the praises of what's probably the coolest the holiday around last year, but we were there when Embedded artists Silversun Pickups even played music from their album swoon at Rasputin Music in San Francisco.
Many of the Embedded Tour Stops also featured artists and bands stopping into their favorite indie spots as well:
K'naan visits FatBeats LA
Black Lips invade Fingerprints for an in-store performance
Fucked Up raid Amoeba Music
Each year, the organizers of Record Store Day create even more awesome videos, activities, and free events for people that love music. This year, Decibel Magazine and RED teamed up to create a mini magazine that features a free, 22-track metal sampler. REM, Them Crooked Vultures, and Embedded Tour Stop artists Passion Pit have all have limited edition box sets and EPs for sale at various shops.
For gear heads, Zoom and Samson have teamed up to create a prize pack full of recording equipment while Sony and Touchtunes are holding a sweepstakes to give away CDs, LPs, and a Sony USB turntable. Some stores are even giving away free t-shirts to celebrate the 17th.
And there wouldn't be record stores full of music to buy without artists supplying albums, so plenty of great bands have gotten involved.
Check out Northern Irish band Two Door Cinema Club talking about the very first and most recent records they've purchased:
Gogol Bordello put together a short but lively song promoting Record Store Day:
Salvador Santana, son of the famous guitar genius Carlos Santana, talks about his earliest experiences wandering record stores and bonding with his father through them:
Head over to RSD TV for droves of exclusive Record Store day clips and extras.
Once you've run that well dry, do yourself a favor and look up where you can find Record Store Day festivities near you. If you're in Hollywood, you might even be able to catch a Smashing Pumpkins' special performance at Amoeba Music.

With the rise in digital music & lack of funding. Many great independent artists such as: Velvet Acid Christ,Prometheus Burning, Collide & many others Including my own project! Are now fining it harder to put out their music! Today's industry lacks MTV support for such artists & very little (although some!) other media support!!! Most radio stations only focus on mainstream artists with more & more stations playing nothing but hip hop! Many great artists (many of which have donated their own personal time & money to things like cancer research!) Are now finding themselves asking for funds from fans & rewarding fans with such things as meeting the band & even the band's gear!!! Many independent artists have halted tours or stopped doing live shows altogether, just so they could finance putting out their CDs!!! Mainstream artists don't have these issues, because mainstream musicians get money from their record companies, advertising & other stuff!!! They are suffering ,yes!! But not NEARLY at the level that the independent artist do!!! In order for these artists to continue putting out great music, I urge you to check out their websites, buy their music, do what you can to support these artists!!! Music culture should be a LITTLE more diverse then just the mainstream!!!With the rise in digital music & lack of funding. Many great independent artists... more
