"Barbie. Happy 50th. You haven't had it easy, serving as both the template for idealized female beauty and a lightning rod for controversy. So, congrats on weathering the storm. And since we're talking: I need to tell you something. -- In the debate over whether you and your pronounced bosom, platinum blond locks and teetering stature have objectified women, well, I objectified you. Wherever and whenever I could. -- Let me explain. I had anti-Barbie parents. You know the type: Parents who want you to have your birthday party at a museum. Parents who think that the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer is a "fun" show. Parents who secretly wish that all you played with was a collection of hand-carved wooden spoons from a non-Western culture. To these parents, Barbie was anathema, a symbol from an earlier time, a Stepford wife in waiting. They looked at her, even in her '80s corporate wear, and saw the same plastic pin-up who debuted at the New York Toy Fair on March 9, 1959. "

"Remember the Sarah Haskin's show "Target Women"?
Sarah has been a subversive feminist comedic take on ads targeted at women (for a while) and is very funny, and, at least in the blogosphere, has a following.
So, why does Jimmy Fallon's "Target Demographic" routine seem to be an imitation of Sarah's "Target Women" current_tv show?
The presentation, the name, the subject (women) - everything seems so eerily familiar?
Are the writers for the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show seem to be so out of ideas the first week in that they have to imitate Sarah Haskins (and imitate her badly)?"
Another Source: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2009/03/jimmy_fallon_accused_of_idea_t.html
"Hell hath no fury like a Twitterer scorned. As you will no doubt recall, Monday night's debut of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon included a pre-filmed bit called "Target Demographics," which is essentially a comedic take on the customer-segmentation research tool known as PRIZM. However, when Current TV's Sarah Haskins saw the execution, she immediately accused Fallon of idea-thievery via the ubiquitous social media time-waster Twitter. Just how accurate is her accusation?"
Watch the videos on these websites and decide for yourself: Is Jimmy a rip-off artist?"Remember the Sarah Haskin's show "Target Women"?
