They made their vows and exchanged rings in front of family and friends before leaving under a shower of confetti.
But then things rapidly turned sour for the 23-year-old bride and her groom. They began arguing on the steps of the town hall where they had wed.
And she demanded a divorce - ten minutes after getting married. She dashed back inside and pleaded with the deputy mayor to annul her marriage to her 25-year-old husband.
Fighting then broke out between the couple's families outside the building in Tours in the Loire Valley, France, on Saturday.
A witness said: 'The two mother-in-laws were punching and scratching each other, and officers had to prise them apart.'
Officials were unable to annul the marriage and the couple will now have to apply for a divorce.
Deputy mayor Frangois Lafourcade, who conducted the ceremony, told local paper La Nouvelle Republique: 'For a while everything was going smoothly, the room was decked with flowers and everyone was smartly dressed and looking forward to happy occasion.
'During the ceremony, I went through the vows and looking back, the bride did say "yes" rather hesitantly.
'After it was over I pronounced them man and wife and they all left the room.
'I stayed behind and ten minutes later the bride came running back looking very flustered and insisted I divorce her on the spot.'
One guest at the wedding said police were then called to break up a violent punch-up outside the building between the families.
He added: 'The two mother-in-laws were punching and scratching each other, and officers had to prise them apart.
'The bride was guided out of the building later on her own under a police escort.'
Tours town hall's registry division said later it was unable to annul the marriage and the couple would now need to apply for a divorce.
A spokesman said: 'The only way we could have declared that ceremony invalid was if they had not consented willingly, if one of them was underage, or if there was a case of incest or bigamy.
'But this was apparently not the case, so they are going to have to find lawyers and apply for a divorce through the courts just like everyone else.'

A woman who ignored an Asbo which banned her from having noisy sex is due to be sentenced for breaching it.
Caroline and Steve Cartwright's sex life was so loud, a woman taking her child to school complained, and it was claimed they drowned out nearby televisions.
Neighbours and even the postman objected and the 48-year-old from Concord, Washington, Tyne and Wear, was first hit with a noise abatement notice, then an Asbo ordering her to quieten down in the bedroom.
Almost immediately after it was imposed she broke it and then failed in an appeal to have it overturned.
She claimed the Asbo breached her human rights.
At a previous hearing, Recorder Jeremy Freedman said: "It certainly was intrusive and constituted a statutory nuisance.
"It was clearly of a very disturbing nature and it was also compounded by the duration - this was not a one-off, it went on for hours at a time.
"It is further compounded by the frequency of the episode, virtually every night."
She will be sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court.

Federal agents have started interviewing people connected to Sen. John Ensign's (R-Nev.) sex scandal, a potential sign that the Nevada Republican could face a criminal probe over the matter, according to several sources familiar with the matter.
The FBI has contacted former aides to Ensign - in both Las Vegas and in Washington, the sources said. The sources said it appears that the FBI has begun a preliminary review of the case, and there's no evidence yet that it will become a full-fledged criminal investigation into the senator's conduct. At the same time, the Senate Ethics Committee has already launched an inquiry, issuing subpoenas last month to a slew of former Ensign aides.

Attending the International Alchemy Conference in Los Angeles last fall, was truly a healing experience! In the same way that informational medicine is the future of healing (sending new information to areas in the body that are poorly performing so as to re-inform our cells of their true capacity), so too is the Cultural Alchemy of Lovevolution: healing society by redefining our relationship to ourselves and the world we live in. Alchemy provides insight and information to realign our heart and mind with the divine, showing the interconnection of all life, spirit, mind, and matter.
“As above so below” is the most famous Alchemist saying I know. Ahead of the curve, Alchemists intrinsically understood the fractal nature of the universe centuries before the concept of fractals was ever articulated. Turning lead into gold is their most famous experiment. The superficial read is materialistic, but, that misses the main point of Alchemy’s mission: transformation and purification; in understanding the way the material world works, we gain understanding of ourselves; in transmuting lead to gold, the Alchemist synchronously purifies her/his soul!
Considered from the physical standpoint” alchemy is “the attempt to demonstrate experimentally on the material plane the validity of a certain philosophical view of the Cosmos” writes H. Stanley Redgrove in his book Alchemy Ancient + Modern. ”Alchemists always speak of their Art as a Divine Gift, the highest secrets of which are not to be learnt from any books on the subject; and they invariably teach that the right mental attitude with regard to God is the first step necessary for the achievement of the magnum opus.’
The Cultural Alchemy of Lovevolution is being created with the positive intentions of Seekers, Sages, Alchemists, Artists, Economists, Healers, Physicists, Business and more; all working to co-create Lovevolution from their unique perspective
The 2009 International Alchemy Conference, produced by the International Alchemy Guild with the Modern Mystery School @L.A.’s convention center, was the largest gathering of Alchemists in more than 500 years. “With movies like The Secret and What the Bleep? providing captivating glimpses behind the mysteries of life, the Third Annual Alchemy Conference, continued the quest for knowledge by assembling a field of internationally renowned experts for lectures, workshops, demonstrations, networking and discussions behind the positive changes afoot all around us” says Dennis Hauck, co-president of the International Alchemy Guild and conference founder. “The Turba Philosophorum ("Assembly of the Alchemical Philosophers") is an influential twelfth-century Latin manuscript that brought together the best thinkers and the key concepts of the alchemical tradition in a single volume. The International Alchemy Conference carries on that tradition.”
We all know the story of Issac Newton under the apple tree, gathering his scientific insights thru meditative stillness in connection to G*d, but did you know that he wrote more on Alchemy than any other subject? Though closeted during his lifetime due to the persecution of Alchemy’s followers, we now know Issac Newton as perhaps the most famous Alchemists that ever lived.
As we approach peak oil, 2012, the end of the Mayan Calendar and the direct alignment of Earth with the black hole in the center of our galaxy, we all feel the world changing. “I believe that we are living in a special moment in human history,” says keynote speaker Chilean economist, Dr Alfredo Sfeir-Younis. “The challenge is to shift and question is where shall we shift? We need to get out today from a number of fallacies like: economic growth now, environment later; lets have more wealth and do social justice later. This alchemy is defunct and this conference should come and let the world know that we are creating a new alchemy of collective destiny: from an individualistic, materialistic stance, to look at humanity in a collective way. We need to move from the material to the spiritual.” It is this Alchemical spell I call the Cultural Alchemy of Lovevolution, where science, spirituality, and philosophy all agree, its time we transmute ourselves, transform society and live in peace and love.
“That’s what we need” says Theresa Ibis conference organizer and Teacher at the Modern Mystery School. “We need everybody playing their part, because its not gonna happen from expecting our governments to be the ones to do it for us. We have to do it! If we want to create that Shambhala and that golden age, it is about every single person who has a purpose on this planet, and Every single one of You do, to Awaken to that! to remember what that is and to Be that change You seek, to give your gift to the world!”
The combination of information seeded infinite inspiration. It was amazing to experience the interdisciplinary confluence of Wisdom calling us to action in a Cultural Alchemy of Lovevolution where one moves beyond isolating individualism to understand themselves anew as a unique part of a giant whole including all scales and dimensions of life in the universe: Many luminaries believe we are evolving into homo luminous, a more spiritually grounded balanced version of homo sapiens. In Alchemy, science, spirituality, and philosophy all agree -- its time we work on ourselves to heal society and live in peace, joy and love.
Throughout the weekend the resounding call to action, empowering all people to live their truth and engage their personal power to create the best NOW one can imagine, nurtured all present. It is time this mission went worldwide! May the Culture Alchemy of Lovevoltion catalyze our daily lives as the Hopi prophesize “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for”

You don’t get nice abs from having sex, you get sex from having nice abs. At least that’s what women tell me and they better not be lying or else I’ve wasted the past eight years doing crunches on that damn giant inflatable ball thing at my gym. (Sometimes I think it would be easier just to buy a Ferrari and change my name to Paolo.) I’m still four cans short, but if I ever get a six-pack, I’ll let you know if it works.
The calorie question is murky, though. You can find all kinds of guesses on the Internet, but don’t believe them. Nobody really knows. The reason why nobody knows, explained Ray Rosen, chief scientist at the New England Research Institutes, a private research outfit, is that there are too many variables.
A marathon session of high intensity eroticism in which you two chase each other around the house with kitchen implements will be very different than the good night quickie after Conan while lying on that new pillow top mattress. But if you insist on quantification, Rosen suggests the average episode might be equal to walking up two flights of stairs. In other words, sex by itself is not a good weight loss strategy.
On the other hand, this past year has witnessed a raft of new studies further cementing the link between overall fitness and good sexual function. For example, an Italian research group led by Dr. Katherine Esposito found that premenopausal women with hyperlipidemia — high cholesterol — had lower sexual function scores. In fact, half the women with high cholesterol met the criteria for female sexual dysfunction.
The same group tested 209 male test subjects with erectile dysfunction or with high risk of E.D. Half the men were assigned to lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise. The other half, the control group, were given general information on those topics. After two years, erectile function improved dramatically overall in the test group, and much less dramatically in the control group. The more successful the men were in getting fit, the better woodies they got.
If that isn’t enough motivation for you to get out of that that La-Z-Boy what is?
A University of California San Francisco team led by Dr. Leslee Subak is hoping to confirm these sorts of findings in a new study now being planned. Current data is somewhat limited because getting funding for sexual function studies is difficult despite the fact that sexual dysfunction is now recognized as something of a canary in a coal mine for other conditions like cardiovascular disease, depression and diabetes.
“There are not many data,” Subak explained, “and the data that exist are not necessarily conclusive, however it does appear that decreased physical activity is an independent risk factor for sexual dysfunction.”
The benefits of exercise might even be immediate. No delayed gratification! Studies done at the University of Texas by Cindy Meston’s female sexuality group have shown “a significant increase in physiological sexual arousal with exercise” after just 20 minutes on a treadmill.
So, does good sex mean better health, or do people have better sex because they are already healthy? That intertwinement is tough to unravel, but, Rosen said, “the evidence is stronger that being healthy is a facilitator. It paves the way for good sex rather than the other way around, though there is some evidence for the second proposition as well.”You don’t get nice abs from having sex, you get sex from having nice abs. University of Pennsylvania Clinical psychologist, Dr. Mary Riggs Cohen, and her former patient, Jacob Heinz, share their thoughts about what it means to live with the silent disability called ASPERGER SYNDROME (ALSO CALLED HIGH FUNCTIONING AUTISM), a neurological disorder of the brain. Jacob Heinz was jailed in 2006 in a Bensalem, Pennsylvania Police Department sting operation via myspace.com where officers posed as a 13 year old girl and had sexual conversations. Alison M. Peck, 23, a music teacher at Greenfield High School in Greenfield, Missouri was arrested in the beginning of May on allegations that she had a sexual relationship with a student who is under 14-years-old. A couple of week later she was arrested again, this time on allegations of witness tampering and having sex with underage boy.
According to court records, Peck began exchanging text messages with the student in December, 2008 eventually leading to a sexual relationship. Peck reportedly told investigators that she repeatedly had sex with the student beginning in January at her home in Mt. Vernon and at Fiddler's Ford in Dade County.
Alison Peck pleaded guilty in the end of November for statutory rape. A judge sentenced Alison Peck to five years in prison but, in agreement with a prosecutor's recommendation, suspended execution of the sentence and placed her on probation for five years.
Peck still faces similar charges in two other counties. She's charged in Dade County with two counts of statutory rape and she's charged in Lawrence County with statutory rape and statutory sodomy.
As part of her probation, Greene County Circuit Judge Calvin Holden ordered Peck to complete a sexual offender treatment program and to register as a sexual offender. He also ordered Peck to have no contact with the student.Alison M. Peck, 23, a music teacher at Greenfield High School in Greenfield, Missouri... more

Think your kid is not "sexting"? Think again.
Sexting – sharing sexually explicit photos, videos and chat by cell phone or online – is fairly commonplace among young people, despite sometimes grim consequences for those who do it. More than a quarter of young people have been involved in sexting in some form, an Associated Press-MTV poll found.
That includes Sammy, a 16-year-old from the San Francisco Bay Area who asked that his last name not be used.
Sammy said he had shared naked pictures of himself with girlfriends. He also shared naked pictures of someone else that a friend had sent him.
What he didn't realize at the time was that young people across the country – in Florida, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania – have faced charges, in some cases felony charges, for sending nude pictures.
"That's why I probably wouldn't do it again," Sammy said.
Yet, "I just don't see it as that big of a problem, personally."
That was the view of nearly half of those surveyed who have been involved in sexting. The other half said it's a serious problem – and did it anyway. Knowing there might be consequences hasn't stopped them.
"There's definitely the invincibility factor that young people feel," said Kathleen Bogle, a sociology professor at La Salle University in Philadelphia and author of the book "Hooking Up: Sex, Dating and Relationships on Campus."
"That's part of the reason why they have a high rate of car accidents and things like that, is they think, `Oh, well, that will never happen to me,'" Bogle said.
Research shows teenage brains are not quite mature enough to make good decisions consistently. By the mid-teens, the brain's reward centers, the parts involved in emotional arousal, are well-developed, making teens more vulnerable to peer pressure.
But it is not until the early 20s that the brain's frontal cortex, where reasoning connects with emotion, enabling people to weigh consequences, has finished forming.
Beyond feeling invincible, young people also have a much different view of sexual photos that might be posted online, Bogle said. They don't think about the idea that those photos might wind up in the hands of potential employers or college admissions officers, she said.
"Sometimes they think of it as a joke; they have a laugh about it," Bogle said. "In some cases, it's seen as flirtation. They're thinking of it as something far less serious and aren't thinking of it as consequences down the road or who can get hold of this information. They're also not thinking about worst-case scenarios that parents might worry about."
Sexting doesn't stop with teenagers. Young adults are even more likely to have sexted; one-third of them said they had been involved in sexting, compared with about one-quarter of teenagers.
Thelma, a 25-year-old from Natchitoches, La., who didn't want her last name used, said she's been asked more than once to send naked pictures of herself to a man.
"It's just when you're talking to a guy who's interested in you, and you might have a sexual relationship, so they just want to see you naked," she said, adding that she never complied with those requests.
"But with my current boyfriend, I did it on my own; he didn't ask me," she said, adding that she was confident he would keep the image to himself.
Those who sent nude pictures of themselves mostly said they went to a boyfriend, girlfriend or romantic interest.
But 14 percent said they suspect the pictures were shared without permission, and they may be right: Seventeen percent of those who received naked pictures said they passed them along to someone else, often to more than just one person.

In early morn upon the moors
I walk in shades of colored light
Conflicted both in heart and mind
Searching for my soul
My solitude my only comfort
As the mist wraps itself around me
Longing for your arms to replace it
Your lips to make me whole
****
Where are you now at dawn's breaking
As the dew caresses my feet
I long to have you walk beside me
To take away this pain
Do you not know how much I love you?
How you fill my empty days?
Your face in my every thought
As I imagine your kisses on me sweet as rain
****
Looking out into the myst
A light rain falls upon me
I see you coming in the distance
As if in a dream
Do my eyes deceive me
Have you heard my heart?
After all these years that I have waited
Is this what it seems?
****
Make sweet love to me, wet and soft
Make this world melt away
Be my lover, my passion's end
Enraptured in the morning mist
