Says artist Gabriel Dishaw (who works primarily in the medium of junk like old bolts and nails and scrap metal): "This piece was a continuation of my previous piece JUNK DUNK (Right) I wanted to attempt this approach again, with a more refined and detailed outcome. I used very little wire and more glue to keep the piece more clean, and less bulky. I also added new details, a hinged tongue and nike logo's on both the tongue and back of the shoe. On previous models I used a real nike sole to build of off. With this piece I started from scratch and build the sole from circuit boards."
They look pretty awesome. But would probably be difficult to run in.Says artist Gabriel Dishaw (who works primarily in the medium of junk like old bolts... more

"No one wants to see curvy women", Karl Lagerfeld has stated in response to a leading German women's magazine's ban on ultra thin models. He goes on: "You've got fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying that thin models are ugly."
He claims fashion is about "dreams and illusions", calling the size zero debate absurd, implying that consumers and readers have no need to identify with what they see on catwalks and in magazines, just to appreciate the aesthetic.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists has appealed to the government to do more to tackle the growing number of 'Pro-ana' and Pro-mia' (pro-anorexia and bulimia respectively) websites, as well as criticizing international catwalk shows, such as those featured during London Fashion Week, claiming they act as 'a showcase for underweight women' (Professor Ulrike Schmidt, chair of the college’s eating disorders section). The Royal College of Psychiatrists has appealed to the government to do more to tackle... more

In a move which both highlights and undermines her achievements (among them a bravery commendation in 2005), Corporal Katrina Hodge of the Royal Anglican Regiment (and runner up in this year's Miss England competition) has become the face of La Senza's offer of a 15% discount to members of the armed forces.
She said: ''I am enjoying the attention and profile but my job is still as an army soldier. I love the army life and if this encourages more women to join up then that would be brilliant.
''I'm so proud of this campaign and I really hope that it encourages other high street stores to offer discounts to men and women in the armed forces.''In a move which both highlights and undermines her achievements (among them a bravery... more

"Rage" is the new film by Sally Potter which boosts an awesome ensemble cast (Judi Dench, John Leguizamo, Steve Buscemi, Eddie Izzard and Diane West. Oh, and Jude Law in drag). The whole thing is a series of interviews and looks pretty amazing.
Judging by some of the quotes from the film (Dench: [fashion is] "pornography to which millions are addicted") and the general theme (Buscemi musing on shooting versus, you know, 'shooting'), this is going to be a slap in the face to the fashion industry as well as a visually interesting experience for the audience (we see nothing and have to imagine all the action)."Rage" is the new film by Sally Potter which boosts an awesome ensemble cast... more

Harvard University, one of the most famed sets of learning in the world, has branched out into fashion, signing a ten year deal with Wearwolf Group, a big clothing manufacturer.
But it won't be the standard Uni merchandise, like sweatshirts with HARVARD emblazoned on the front, and nor will the University's colors feature heavily in the designs. It's an actual clothing line to be sold (eventually) world wide, based on pictures of students from the '60s. And so far it's only menswear. And it's a little 'trendy'.
Why are they doing this? Is Harvard secretly broke? Want to shake up their image? Will Yale respond in kind?Harvard University, one of the most famed sets of learning in the world, has branched... more

No, seriously.
The TUC (which is predominately made up of men) wants to ban high heels from the workplace, citing the dangers they pose to women who wear them on a day to day basis (short term injury from losing balance, long term foot and back pain). The motion to introduce a height limit to women's shoes in the workplace goes to debate next month.
There are social implications as well as medical ones. As Nadine Dorries (Tory MP) says: "I'm 5ft 3in and need every inch of my Christian Louboutin heels to look my male colleagues in the eye. If high heels were banned in Westminster, no one would be able to find me."
Slow month for the TUC? Or important medical and social issue? Or utterly pointless and somewhat patronising? No, seriously.

Crocs are pretty much doomed, but not for the obvious reason of them being hideous. The company is crumbling due to poor sales put down to the recession (or people waking up to the fact that they are hideous), and while a lot of people are happy about this, the hardcore grourp of Crocs fans are mourning the soon loss of their favourite footwear.
Here we have a defense and somewhat of a eulogy for the fashion don't from The Guardian.Crocs are pretty much doomed, but not for the obvious reason of them being hideous.... more

F-listed have posted a poll, asking people to vote on what they think the ideal size of a woman should be, and then to explain themselves in the comment section. Corey Feldman attended Michael Jackson's memorial service yesterday dressed as the King of Pop from his 'Dangerous' era: a replica of his military jacket, fedora, sunglasses and strands of hair covering his face. Where did her eyebrows go? And how is her hair so high? And is she wearing fishing boots?
