CFD!'s Sage Knox takes a look at Pandemic Studios' final release - The Saboteur:
"Let’s face it: The Saboteur wasn’t on anyone’s immediate radar until creators Pandemic Studios got canned in late 2009. With virtually no hype and no marketing campaign, the circumstances surrounding the game’s final stages of development were more intriguing to most than the notion of actually playing the studio’s last project.
While the Pandemic brand lives on, the majority of its staff rushed to finish The Saboteur on time, only to be laid off days before its release. Some employees even went so far as to place a countdown clock in the building which predicted their job eliminations while others shook one last fist at the company who shook them off. Of course, the ultimate question was whether or not The Saboteur would be the doomed studio’s swan song or yet another of their current-gen disappointments."

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was released last year but now we have learned that the now closed Pandemic Studios were working on two unannounced projects, one of which would have been an online sandbox game based in the Mercenaries world entitled Mercenaries Inc.
A trailer for the unannounced game was posted on Vimeo.com by former Pandemic Studio's VFX artist Dorian Compo. Compo describes Mercs, Inc. as a "multiplayer sandbox game," but it is unknown whether it will contain an open-world single-player campaign as well, like the previous titles in the series.
Compo's personal LinkedIn profile details two Pandemic projects that are listed on his profile as canceled one of which is Mercenaries Inc.Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was released last year but now we have learned that the... more

Last week, we posted news that Pandemic Studios, creators of Destroy All Humans, Mercenaries, and December 8th’s The Saboteur, was being shut down.
EA representatives confirmed that nearly 200 people would be laid off. These bright (and opportunistic) Pandemic folks decided to post this final farewell to the world on behalf of the studio and give EA a big ol’ middle finger. Enjoy.
(Ed Note: Do be warned, the lyrics in the song are NSFW, so don’t crank this in your workplace unless you’re about to burn the building down – R.T.)

Yesterday, EA representatives confirmed the closure of Pandemic Studios, makers of such titles as Mercenaries, Star Wars: Battlefront, and the upcoming The Saboteur.
While the process of shutting the developer down is still underway, it appears that the vast majority of Pandemic’s 200 regular employees were shown the door. CEO Andrew Goldman, President Josh Resnick, and Vice President of Product Development Greg Borrud were included in that list.

When Pandemic Studio's The Saboteur hits the market in the fall of 2009, gamers won’t just see an incredibly intricate 1940s Paris, they’ll run through it, climb over it, interact with it, and go most anywhere they want to in it. Check it out:
Bringing this amazingly detailed world of Paris to life is the new Odin game engine, the result of years of blood, sweat and tears spilled by a highly dedicated and enthusiastic team of programmers and engineers.
In the Beginning...
The Odin engine started with a single polygon—just one simple shape rotating on the screen. Four years and several hundred thousand lines of code later, Odin has evolved into an incredibly powerful and versatile engine, one which promises to bring an open-world WWII-era Paris to life like never before. Co-lead programmers Dan Andersson and Fidde Persson were members of the original strike team assembled by the Pandemic studio shortly after they received their first Alpha Xbox 360 kit in 2004. At that time, the team consisted of four tech leads and a director. Today there are more than 30 people on the engineering team, plus a few more external contractors.
