The launch of the online streaming service 'ITV Live' to contribute to the world cup, was marred with technical problems during the South Africa vs Mexico match.
An ITV spokesperson said "We had a problem with our CDN (content distribution network) which was preventing new members joining the stream... It was an issue since half time in the game." The game was also streamed on TV and mobile services. ITV also said that they won't be making a formal statement or respond on Twitter.

I would love to tell you what I think of the new music video super-site Vevo. I'd just need it to work long enough for me to form any real educated opinion that isn't simply a list of bugs (insanely long load times, many time out errors, bad links, bad search results, bad browser compatibility). Every new piece of tech has its bugs, though this seems like a high proportion for such a high-profile launch.
Instead I'll tell you what I think of this tweet from Billboard editor Bill Werde during the Vevo kickoff confab last night in New York City, which I've been thinking about all day:
@bwerde: Classic music biz event: stay for schmooze, execs speeches, leave when the music starts. Crowd noteably thinning.

It's holiday party season, and more than one of the reports I've heard back from friends and colleagues as they make the circuit here in LA said basically the same thing, the same old worst kept secret in the music industry: Very few people are in it for the music. There's no crowd worse to play than an industry crowd. People barely clap, let alone sing along (assuming they even like or know the music of the artists playing their swank events). If you're lucky, everyone leaves instead of standing by the open bar and talking so loudly the band can hardly hear themselves.
And at the biggest music business party of the year, it wasn't any different. If we want to talk about what's broken in the music industry, maybe we need to take a step back from the technology questions—and even the money question—and start somewhere a little more basic. Do you even like music? If not, seriously, get out of this industry. At least the people stealing music are enjoying it.
Also—no lie, we cannot find any footage from the performances except this one clip of Lady Gaga. There's a playlist on Vevo's homepage that hints they might have more launch coverage but, naturally: it won't load.
