It’s not just magicians who can make something appear out of thin air; researchers can do it, too. A group at Princeton University has developed a way to shoot a laser beam at a specific point in the air where a second beam is created that can travel in the reverse direction.

As a builder, I think it is safe to say that I am a pretty good writer. I pondered for more than two years how I would go about building a greenhouse in my backyard. It was part of the The Plan. When I moved my family to the Sunshine Coast, we would do what ever we could to avoid buying produce from abroad, or for that matter, buying it at all.As a builder, I think it is safe to say that I am a pretty good writer. Recycling old car windshields seems to be the hot new thing amongst members of the Green community. It’s not hard to do and it’s good for the environment, so why not!? You’d be surprised by the number of consumer and industrial goods that are already produced from recycled windshields. These recycled greenhouses are catching on in French gardens and even urban areas.

Downtown Cleveland gets taken over by a mall, which gets taken over by a farm.
Shopping malls haven’t shown any sign of slowing down in their rampant development since the first one opened near Kansas City, Mo., in 1922. The economy, on the other hand, has shown woeful signs of slowing down to the extent that many retail centers are closing their doors due to the traumatic hit consumer confidence has taken in recent years.
Such was almost the case with the Galleria at Erieview in Cleveland, Ohio but it took the bright idea of Vicky Poole, their marketing and events director to do more than just drop the cost of rent.
I started, again, reevaluating the space and when this idea came for urban growing and I got, again, more involved in the local food movement, I realized that there was no reason why we couldn’t implement growing and still be a business center and an events center. We could still remain a community and yet benefit from the plants and the local food.
Vicky says the businesses will take time to come back, just as the plants will take time to grow. For now, the visibility and good feeling the greenhouse gives to the community is a solid foundation for a sustainable future.

Tans and many other researchers worry that the answer is no. Typically, the emissions of a company or nation are calculated from the bottom up—sort of like figuring out what you weigh by looking at what you eat. Start with data on, say, the amount of coal shoveled into a power plant or the millions of barrels of crude oil going into refineries.Tans and many other researchers worry that the answer is no. After making target goals ahead of the 192-nation climate change summit in Copenhagen, the United States and China have produced nothing more than headlines.
Wednesday, the White House vowed that President Obama, who is personally attending the summit, will submit his proposal that pledges U.S. emissions to be cut 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020. Over the pledges 10 year plan, the U.S. would effectively reduce emissions by 41 percent.
After hosting India and other major developing countries for a climate summit, China announced that Beijing will cut “carbon intensity”, a measure of carbon dioxide emissions per unit of production, by roughly 40 to 45 percent by 2020, compared with 2005 levels.
Swedish Prime Minister and European Union President, Fredrik Reinfeldt said that the Chinese bid was a move in the right direction, but didn't feel it was a large enough commitment for change.
"We feel that China could do more and we also hope to get further commitments," Reinfeldt states on his EU presidency website.
United Nation officials unofficially stated that China was on the track to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 13 percent. Not due to their proactive plans, but this would be reached by absolutely no action at all.
President Hu’s government was expected to place more pressure on India, a country not pledging any cuts.
However, Canada's own Prime Minister, Stephen Harper has opted out of attending Copenhagen even after his Conservative government pledged to cut greenhouse gases by 20 percent by 2020 from 2006 levels, which is quite more drastic than Chinese and U.S. pledges.
The U.S. plan to cut emissions have seem to not be as impressive to some, Denmark's Climate Minister Connie Hedegaard said, "but the U.S. seems to know that the price for coming late is that the pathway for reductions after 2020 will be extra steep."
However, she stated later, that "Governments from all over the world are delivering before the climate conference," Further stating, "All across the globe, things are moving."After making target goals ahead of the 192-nation climate change summit in Copenhagen,... more

Climate obstructionists are pushing a new way to gut the Clean Air Act — strangle the EPA.
Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska has proposed an amendment that would strip the EPA of the ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from "non-mobile" sources. This drastic move would leave over 70% of the CO2 emissions produced in the United States completely unregulated, including every single industry polluter and coal plant.
Senator Murkowski's amendment blocks EPA from taking any action for the next year — a delay tactic quite similar to the "triggers" being proposed to stall health care reform. This is just the kind of reasonable sounding cover that senators beholden to coal and oil interests can cite in being FOR global warming legislation but against anything that would actually make a difference.
As a result, the vote on the Murkowski amendment is a critical test for the Senate. The vote is expected to be very close. If it passes, polluters will know that they have enough friends in the Senate to win on critical issues.
Please consider signing this petition. Thanks.Climate obstructionists are pushing a new way to gut the Clean Air Act —... more
