Make no mistake, zombies are fun to kill. We’ve had years of pleasure dismembering these lumbering sacks of meat. They allow us to become murderous fiends without our consciences ever getting in the way, but should we feel guilty about all those heads we’ve blown off with a rusty sawn-off shotgun? Of course not; zombies don’t have feelings – we’re doing them a favour by freeing them from the undignified situations they’ve found themselves in.

Well, now that the rest of the October NPD Top 20 list is out, we can see why Brütal Legend didn’t make it into the top 10 – Eddie Riggs was seemingly unable to fight his way past the equally brutal Demon’s Souls on PlayStation 3. It all makes perfect sense now.

Normally, if there was an island infested with ”ferocious brain-eating zombies, carnivorous Were-Skags and more” I would be the last person to advocate actually visiting it. I mean, if they’re already isolated to a single island, why not just leave the zombies alone? Why even take the risk of exposing the general population to possible infection? But I’m not even going to bother trying to talk you out of it. I know you won’t listen to me anyway. Not when there’s sweet loot for your Borderlands character to be had.

No other words can possibly be sweeter to a developer to read than reports of “sold out” being associated with their new game. Music to their ears but much consternation to gamers eager to play said game but can’t due to its quick selling out. While it only released two days ago it appears that Gearbox’s new game is a hard-to-find commodity for 360 owners; at least if you live on the East Coast of the USA.No other words can possibly be sweeter to a developer to read than reports of... more

"Disregard all the goofy talk about Borderlands and its million-plus guns, or its "Diablo 2 starring Mad Max" premise; the one thing you absolutely need to know about Borderlands is that it's basically Mario Party for FPS fans. No, that doesn't mean that Borderlands is suddenly a board game full of mascots, fluctuating rules, and silly minigames. It's that Borderlands is a game where the single-player ranges from good to downright boring or frustrating; but when you add multiple players to a session, it becomes a delightful fusion of cooperative mechanics, a simple (yet effective) reward scheme, and solid gunplay. Not a huge week unless you’re a fan of the Charm Girls Club or Littlest Pet Shop franchises, in which case you’re in hog heaven. What’s out there for the rest of us, though?
Well, the other 90% of the world outside of the US rejoices this week, as FIFA Soccer 10 will be out. If you like your sports with a liberal dash of “entertainment” on top, you have half-naked men (and women – nobody ever said Vince McMahon wasn’t an equal opportunity exploiter) grappling in WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010. And if none of that appeals to you, then how about tons of guns in a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi setting? If that tickles your fancy more, then you should check out Borderlands.
