Edun, created to support economic development and trade with Africa, utilizes ethical manufacturing practices and a commitment to expanding their African-made fashion line to create both high-fashion garments and retail lines that spread awareness about African struggles, hardships and the ways we can help. Their Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection is both exciting and wearable – for the most part.
Edun focused heavily on knits this season, and the best of the lot were body-skimming dresses and skirts mixed with silky patterned tops. They also utilitzed turtlenecks - similarly to BCBG's RTW collection - and brought those same patterns back to create almost-over-the-top dresses that floated down the runway.
Even paired with pants, each outfit had a feminine flow that was unmistakably primal and powerful. The designs were both exciting to view and utterly wearable - if you have the cash to pick them up.
