The Sony Eye Pet is the ideal gift for wannabe pet owners who just don't have the time to walk, feed or care for their animal.
EyePet, from Sony, is a computer game enabling players to view themselves on screen with their virtual animal in their living room. Players are filmed by video camera connected to a PlayStation 3 console and can give commands to their creatures simply by moving around in front of their TV.

From the Sony press release:
"Experience the first virtual pet who doesn't just live on screen, he lives in the living-room. Using the PlayStation Eye camera, EyePet will interact with users and the environment to deliver entertainment and fun for the whole family... With EyePet players will learn to care for their new pet, including teaching, feeding, and playing with them. Additionally, players can compete in daily challenges to make their EyePet more intelligent and agile, and to earn special rewards."Admittedly this does look like it's aimed at a younger market, but it looks so... more
