A Canton police officer could soon be out of a job. Daniel Harless is caught on tape cursing and yelling at people during traffic stops and threatening to kill them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-uK-Nwxn2ws
As we reported last week, a disciplinary hearing for Canton police officer Daniel Harless, which has already been postponed on two occasions, is scheduled to be held on Thursday, Dec. 15.
The hearing is the culmination of an investigation of Harless' conduct during a traffic stop in June involving a concealed handgun license holder. The officer's actions were captured on dash cam video, and subsequently posted on YouTube.
In the dash cam video, the officer can be heard unleashing a profanity-laced tirade, yelling "I should blast you in the mouth right now...I'm so close to caving in your head," and "you're just a stupid human being!" He continued to berate the license-holder, shouting "You want me to pull mine and stick it to your head?" "People like you don't deserve to f#$%g move throughout public. Period!"
Harless left the driver in the rear of the police vehicle, and returned several minutes later and began shouting at the driver again. "...I swear to God this little bull crap you pulled has me so hot. You know what I should have done? I tell you what I should have done. As soon as I saw your gun I shoulda taken two steps back, pulled my Glock 40, and just put ten bullets in your ass and let you drop. And I wouldn't of lost any sleep. Do you understand me? And he would have been a nice witness as I executed you because you're stupid."
The video went viral, as did two subsequent videos that were uncovered, also showing Harless behaving in a violent and seemingly uncontrolled manner.
In a July 2010 video, Harless can be heard saying "Don't f#$%g move. Let me see your f#$%g hands," Harless shouted. "I'll kill every one of you mother f#$%ers. There's a goddamned gun in this car. You f#$%g move, I'll shoot you in the head."
Harless also threatened to send the suspects "to the grave" if they moved, adding, "I'm telling you what mother f#$%er. I'll shoot you in the face and I'll go to sleep tonight. Do you understand me?"
In a December 2010 video Harless can be heard saying "If you scratch you balls wrong, I'm going to pull my gun and I am going to shoot you."
According to WEWS (ABC Cleveland), an internal affairs investigation concluded that Harless violated three department rules and regulations during the December stop, and also during two other stops where he was captured on dash cam video yelling, swearing and threatening to kill people during traffic stops.
Unfortunately, he was put back on the street, allowing the shocking and violent events of June 2011 to unfold.
After the most recent incident, Harless was put on administrative leave, and later went on medical leave. (The Canton Repository reported last week that he has since run out of sick days, but is still reportedly receiving pay thanks to a special clause in his union contract.)
Yet another investigation was launched, and a disciplinary hearing was set for September 7. On September 3, however, The Repository reported that the hearing has been postponed until December 1 days "at the request of the union [president Bill Adams], which claimed the patrolman has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder." (The Canton Police Patrolmen's Association had actually requested an indefinite extension, which was was denied.)
The progress that Dan Harless is making with his doctor visits would only be reversed with reliving this incident so close to his treatment for his PTSD disability," Adams wrote. "When his doctor or the city of Canton's doctor would clear him for duty, then an appropriate disciplinary hearing should be scheduled."
Adams also stated at the time that Harless could not assist in his defense or participate in his disciplinary hearing.
Last week, the hearing was again postponed. Canton Police Department Safety Director Thomas Ream told The Repository the hearing was "rescheduled because he had a scheduling conflict." While the "he" was undefined in the article, it may just have been Officer Harless whose schedule was to blame.
You see, Officer Daniel Harless, who only 90 days ago was deemed by the Canton Police Patrolmen's Association to be so mentally "disabled" that he was unable to attend his own disciplinary hearing, was busy last week testifying at a murder trial.
If Daniel Harless is well-enough to testify in a murder trial, in which the defendant was ultimately convicted, he is certainly well-enough to show up to his hearing, right? And he certainly won't attempt to claim a mental disability as a defense a week after he testified at a murder trial, right? After all, we wouldn't want the convicted killer's attorney to file an appeal based on Harless' self-admitted incompetence and possibly get his client's conviction overturned.

Every other case involving people arrested for filming cops has been thrown out of court, but media promulgates hoax that recording police is illegal.

41-year old Illinois mechanic Michael Allison faces life in jail for recording police officers after authorities hit him with eavesdropping charges based on the hoax that it is illegal to film cops, a misnomer that has been disproved by every other case against people filming police officers being thrown out of court.
The state of Illinois is trying to charge Allison with five counts of wiretapping, each punishable by four to 15 years in prison.
Allison refused a plea deal which would have seen him serve no jail time but would reinforce the hoax that it is illegal to film police officers, as well as acting as a chilling effect to prevent other Americans from filming cases of police brutality.
Allison has chosen to reject the plea bargain and fight to clear his name via a jury trial, arguing, “If we don’t fight for our freedoms here at home we’re all going to lose them.”
A judge is expected to rule on when the case will go to trial over the next two weeks.
As another report concerning the Allison case documents, in every other example where people have been arrested for recording police officers, the charges have been dropped and the case thrown out of court. Despite this fact, the state is so desperate to make an example out of Allison that an assistant from the Attorney General’s Office was recently sent to speak against him during a hearing.
The notion that it is illegal to film police officers is a mass hoax that is being promulgated by authorities, the media, and police officers themselves.

A man whose family said he was autistic was killed by police in North Miami Beach after pointing a real-looking toy gun at an officer, police said Thursday.
Police officers responded to 911 calls about a man seen walking around the neighborhood Wednesday afternoon with a rifle, North Miami Beach Police Director Thomas Carney said. Officers gave commands for the man to drop the weapon, but he refused and pointed it at an officer, Carney said.
The man identified as Ernest Vassell, 57, was carrying a realistic toy that could be confused with a rifle or shotgun, police said.
"It's very tragic," Carney said. "People don't understand that police officers are going to treat you like that's a real gun until we determine differently. They're not going to take any chances."
The victim's sister said Vassell was autistic and had mental challenges.
"Ernest did not deserve to die like this. Everyone is still in shock and disbelief," Marva Vassell-Gordon said.
His neighbors said it was obvious that Ernest Vassell had a disability, and police should have known.
"It's so strange to me that I can see it, and then, the police didn't see it. Or they didn't look for it," said Conroy Anderson, a family friend.
Police were not immediately releasing further information on the shooting pending an investigation. ( Of course not, they're trying to find ways to spin this and make it seem like it wasn't their fault)A man whose family said he was autistic was killed by police in North Miami Beach... more

SANTA FE, New Mexico (Reuters) - A uniformed on-duty New Mexico state police officer who was caught on camera having sex with a woman on a car hood, embarrassing his department, will not face criminal charges, police said on Thursday.
"At this time we don't believe that any criminal acts occurred," New Mexico State Police Sgt. Tim Johnson said in a statement.
He said the officer involved in the encounter was currently on paid administrative leave and that the case was still "in the disciplinary process" in the department.
Johnson told Reuters that after speaking with the woman, investigators decided the trooper hadn't broken any laws. (BUT IF A CITIZEN WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING, HE/SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED FOR PUBLIC INDECENCY)
"This officer made a horrible personal decision that will obviously reflect poorly on the whole organization," he said.
"The New Mexico State Police is very embarrassed by this incident and will work tirelessly to restore our good name and earn the trust of the citizens back," he added. ( WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!!)

University of Cincinnati officials are investigating the school's police department after a summer school student died after campus cops shot him with a Taser.
Everette Howard, 18, from Cincinnati, had a heart attack early Saturday after a confrontation with campus cops investigating a reported assault.
The incident took place outside a dorm where Howard was staying during a six-week college prep program. He was set to enroll at University of Cumberlands in Kentucky in the fall.
School officials said officers arrived at the dorm at around 3 a.m. and were approached by Howard, who was agitated and had balled his fists, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
The cops told Howard to back off but he refused, officials said. An officer then shot him once with a Taser.
Howard crumpled to the ground. When the officers checked on him, he was incoherent, officials said. Paramedics arrived, and Howard went into cardiac arrest soon after.
He was pronounced dead at University Hospital.
UC Spokesman Greg Hand told The Enquirer an investigation "ongoing."
The officer who fired the stun gun was on paid leave, local reports say.
UC Assistant Dean of Students Dawn Wilson said the school was "distraught" over the young man's death.
"I just wanted to be here to express my support to students and my condolences to his friends and family and the people who loved him," Wilson told WLTW television.
Howard was a champion wrestler in high school and graduated in the top 10% of his class this spring.
He was enrolled in the university's Upward Bound program, which helps prepare poor high school students for college, The Enquirer said.
On Sunday, dozens of students gathered on UC's campus for a candlelight vigil, and more than 1,400 people posted condolences for the young athlete's family on a Facebook tribute page.
"He was probably the most talented student as far as writing skills, oral, leadership; anytime I had trouble with the rest of the group he would help me out," Ekundayo Igeleke, Howard's mentor in the summer program, told WLTW.
"The world didn't get to see who he really was, to fully develop into the man he could have been," Igeleke said.
The Hamilton County coroner said Howard had been shot by a Taser once before in 2010.
Details of that incident were not immediately available.

Dept. of Education breaks down Stockton mans door
STOCKTON, CA – Kenneth Wright does not have a criminal record and he had no reason to believe a S.W.A.T team would be breaking down his door at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
“I look out of my window and I see 15 police officers,” Wright said.
Wright came downstairs in his boxer shorts as a S.W.A.T team barged through his front door. Wright said an officer grabbed him by the neck and led him outside on his front lawn.
“He had his knee on my back and I had no idea why they were there,” Wright said.
According to Wright, officers also woke his three young children ages 3, 7, and 11 and put them in a Stockton police patrol car with him. Officers then searched his house.
Check out the rest here…
And they weren’t even there for him…
The U.S. Department of Education issued the search and called in the S.W.A.T for his wife’s defaulted student loans.
We are in real trouble here folks.
I am afraid that we are beyond the point of no return…

Bay county sheriff's investigators have arrested one of their own, charging him with the rape of a woman in Panama City Beach. Twenty-seven year old Benjamin Logue was arrested yesterday and charged with 1-count of sexual battery.
Twenty seven year old Benjamin Logue is no longer a Bay County Sheriff's deputy. He was fired Tuesday after his colleagues arrested him for rape. Investigators say the incident happened on June 9th, while Logue was on-duty. He saw a woman walking down the side of highway 98 in the Philips inlet area. McKeithen says Logue approached the woman, and told her to get into his patrol car. Authorities say Logue then drove to a wooded area, and force the woman to have sex.
Sheriff's investigators didn't find out about the incident until this past Monday, when an acquaintance of the woman came forward. The alleged victim was hesitant to report the attack, which doesn't surprise bay county sheriff frank McKeithen. "The person that they are supposed to trust has just violated them and it would be kind of hard going to a person wearing the same uniform that they are wearing", said Sheriff McKeithen.
When confronted by investigators, Logue supposedly admitted to having sex with the woman, but he claims it was consensual. "There are certain ethical boundaries that are written and there are also some ethical boundaries that are not written. The ethical boundaries that are written certainly have been violated by deputy Logue and in law enforcement we have some unwritten codes of ethics that we believe also have been violated", said McKeithen
During the course of their investigation, sheriff's investigators say they learned of a second possible victim

They are there to watch and record us. Dozens, hundreds of cameras scattered throughout the city, as if it were not enough that there are vans filled with police, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs) on every block, and the security forces in their checked shirts. They have been installed with an efficiency rarely seen in the execution of any project of public benefit. Their sophisticated structure is the same on streets where half the houses are on the verge of falling down, as in the modern tourist enclaves and on the sumptuous Fifth Avenue. They capture those who traffic in beef, sell drugs, or steal a gold chain; but they also monitor those who don’t keep guns under their beds, but rather opinions in their heads.
When these “fish eyes” began to be installed everywhere, they generated a sense of paralysis among Havanans. I remember looking for blind spots where the crystal globes couldn’t see me. Then I relaxed a little and learned to live with them, though I still felt the itch on the back of my neck of a person who knows they are being observed. Among the speculations about these filming devices is one that they have face-detection programs – including a data base – that read anthropometric measurements. But comments of this kind may well belong to the fantasy catalog generated by everything new.
These public cameras – the embodiment of the Orwellian “telescreen” – have ushered in a new cinematography. Although they basically operate automatically, some hands have leaked their contents to the alternative information networks. Dozens of images are emerging from the police archives and circulating right now, by flash memory. Videos where we see ourselves committing crimes, surviving, stealing and rebelling. Minutes of police beatings, car crashes and images of prostitution between young boys and tourists twice their age. One is a complete and shocking snuff movie, which for weeks jumped from one screen to another, from cell phones to DVD players.
Without intending it, the police have given us the crudest testimony they could about our present reality. A succession of scenes that, no doubt, will be stored in the visual memory of this country.[Translated from Spanish from the Blog Generacion Y by Cuban dissident blogger Yoani... more

Of course he was handcuffed!
In a groundbreaking response, the Little Rock police broke the tradition of denial and downplay, took ownership, and even initiated corrective action against the offending officer.
(jaw drops - speechless)
Of course he is still a cop!
That being said, the "groundbreaking response" barely scratches the surface...

Seattle Police are investigating an officer for allegedly beating a man wrongfully accused of robbery. A video obtained by local news outlets, shows Officer Shandy Cobane stomping on a Hispanic man yelling “I’m going to beat the f*cking Mexican piss out of you homey. You feel me?” The man repeatedly said he had nothing to do with the robbery, despite being accosted by the police.
Police mistook the man as one of four robbers who stole from a man on the street. The victim of the robbery claimed that one of the men had a machete and took $40 from his wallet. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, in a statement, said “I watched the video and found it disturbing. Chief Diaz has informed me that SPD and the Office of Professional Accountability are investigating the incident. We won’t have any further statement until that process is complete.”

(April 1) -- Two police officers have been suspended for reportedly using a stun gun on a 10-year-old boy who had gotten out of control at a day care facility.
The incident occurred Tuesday, when a worker at Tender Teddies Day Care in Martinsville, Ind., called police to report that one of the children there was acting up and posed a potential threat to the kids, local news affiliate WRTV reported.
A spokesperson for the Martinsville Police Department told AOL News that Capt. William Jennings and Officer Darren Johnson arrived at the scene and found the boy to be "combative." Jennings then slapped the boy, and Johnson used his Taser to further subdue him, police said.
The boy, who weighs 94 pounds, received two marks on his arm where Jennings used the gun, WTHR news reported, but is believed to have suffered no lasting injuries.
While the day care center's owner, Heath Lancaster, did not comment on the case, police released a statement announcing that the officers had been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation.
"While the department will not condone the unnecessary treatment of any subject, regardless of age, in any apprehension situation, additional comments will not be made pending results of the final investigation," the statement read.
Separate investigations have now been launched by the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, the Martinsville Police Department and the Martinsville Department of Child Services.
"We need to look at it a lot closer because [the Taser gun is] not really made for 10-year-olds," Martinsville Police Chief Jon Davis said at a news conference.
While the police had been called to Tender Teddies Day Care on another occasion about the behavior of the same child, local resident Kenneth Frazier told WRTV that he thinks police went too far.
"I don't think that should have happened. I'm sure they could have detained him some other way," Frazier said. "They take big grown-ups down without tasing them ... why a 10-year-old?"

A Queens man has been awarded about $460,000 in federal civil court on his claim that Suffolk police officers brutalized him and violated his civil rights after he was arrested in 2006 on a misdemeanor charge.
Rafael Weizmann's lawyer said Weizmann, 62, broke down in tears in court in Brooklyn on Thursday when the seven-member jury came back with the decision in his favor. They deliberated several hours after a nearly weeklong trial.
"He felt that finally, he received vindication," said Earl Ward of Manhattan. "This entire incident totally changed his life. His physical injuries have healed, but he is still being treated for the emotional trauma."
Suffolk Attorney Christine Malafi said the jurors likely were confused in returning the verdict and giving him such a high award. She added Weizmann produced documentation for $4,000 in medical expenses.
"We may be making a motion to set aside that portion of the verdict," she said. "Clearly, the police acted appropriately."
